A Day in Eastern Turkey's Doğubayazıt
28. October 2020. Turkey. Ağrı Province. Doğubayazıt. Spent a day wandering about Doğubayazıt in Eastern Turkey. This means a drive around Mount Ararat, a quest for a meteor hole, an homage to Noah's Ark, not crossing over the Iranian border, a visit to Ishak Pasha Palace and an ancient Urartu castle, and, most importantly, dining on Abdigör köftesi. The day ended with a stay at Tehran Boutique Hotel.

Ahmed-i Hani 1650-51 yılında Hakkari'nin Çukurca ilçesine bağlı Han Köyünde doğmuştur. Babasının adı Şeyh İlyas annesinin adı Gulnigar'dır. Hânî Aşiretinden olmasından ve Han köyünde doğması ötürü Ahmed-i Hani (Ehmedê Xanî, Hani'li Ahmed) olarak tanınmaktadır
Hani ilk eğitimini aile içinde babası Şeyh İlyas'tan fıkıh derslerini aldı. ardından Beyazıt'taki Muradiye medresesine gider. Daha sonra Ahlat ve Bitlis medreselerinde öğrenim görür. Botan ve Mezapotamya'da devam eder öğrenimine. Bağdat, Şam, Halep ve İran medreselerinde de uzunca yıllar öğrencilik hayatı yaşadı. Hani özellikle Suriye medreselerinde Antik Yunan felsefesi'ni, Mezopotamya ve İran medreselerinde ise İslam felsefesi, astronomi, şiir ve sanat tekniğini öğrenmiştir.

Eastern Turkey: Igdir, Dogubayazit and Erzurum / Mount Ararat / January 2022
I am sure many of you have heard of the biblical Mount Ararat, which historically has been part of several countries. The mountain is especially symbolic to Armenia, but today lies in the territory of Turkey, on the border with Armenia, Iran and Azerbaijan.
This vlog features my visit to major cities in that area around Mount Ararat – Igdir, Aralik and Dogubeyazit in Eastern Turkey. I showcase some interesting sites around and in the Mt Ararat region.
One of the best things about this area is the local food, which is super delicious, but also the locals – especially lots of Kurds who were very hospitable and made my experience unforgettable.
Despite some little tensions in this area and historical conflict with Armenia, I hope one day this place will return to peace and both nations will become friends.
I know that many may think that it can be dangerous in this area, but it’s far from the truth. Don’t be afraid to go to these places – such hospitality I experienced in Eastern Turkey is rarely seen. I am absolutely in love with this part of the world.
Make sure to visit Eastern Turkey and have it your bucket list of places to visit.
On my way back to Istanbul my flight was cancelled and I was rebooked to fly from Erzrum - this gave me the opportunity to see another beautiful Turkish city!

The most historical place in Turkey is a small town in Eastern Turkey, Dogubeyazit. Over 2700 years ago, it was Daruynk back to the time of the Kingdom of Urartu (Armenia Dynasty). In the 4th century, Iranian Empire failed to capture Armenia stronghold and Royal Daruynk. Then Princes of Armenia Dynasty rebuilt the fortress into its present configuration. Then later on it was conquered and reconquered by Persians, Armenians, Byzantines and Selcuk throughout history. The town saw fighting in the Ottoman and Persian war in 1821. Then Russian attacked the town in 1856 in Russo-Turkish war. During WWI the town was further damaged. Then in 1930 Dogubeyazit was the capital of the Kurdish Republic of Ararat but the Turkish army destroyed it. With the shadow of Mount Ararat, Isha Pasha Palace is a must visit in Dogubeyazit. It's one of UNESCO world Heritage Site. The Castle and Fortress surrounding were also the witness of the history.

Doğubayazıt seyahatimde genel olarak insanlardan işsizlikle ilgili şikayetler aldım, halkın büyük bir çoğunluğu işsizlik illetinden şikayetçi ayrıca Doğubayazıt şehir merkezinden yol çalışmalarının yetersiz oluşu Doğubayazıt halkının epey canını sıkmış gibi görünüyor, mahalle aralarında asfalt çalışmalarının olmayışı ve alt yapı soru can sıkıcı bir hale gelmiş görünüyor, umarım en kısa zamanda Doğubayazıt doğunun Parisi olmaya aday bir şehir olur.
Doğubayazıt'da bulunan Meteor çukuru çok uzun bir zamandır Turistik ziyaretlere kapalı ve bu durum bir hayli can sıkıcı, bu güzide turistik lokasyonun en kısa sürede Turizme kazandırılıp rehabilite edilmesi ümidiyle.
Doğubayazıt ilçesi Ağrının en turistik ve güzel ilçelerinden birisi, Doğubayazıt'a girişte muhteşem Ağrı Dağı manazarası ile karşılaşıyorsunuz, tarihi İshak Paşa Sarayı, Nuh'un Gemisi silüeti ve Meteor çukuru da ziyaret edilebilir yerlerin en başlarında gelmektedir, Meteor çukuru şu an ziyarete kapalı umarım en kısa zamanda ziyarete açılır ve bu sayede bölgeyi ziyaret eden Turist sayısı eskisi gibi artışa geçer.
