Sitges - The Jewel on the Mediterranean
Sitges is known as the ‘Jewel on the Mediterranean’ and offers many facets to cater for all tastes. Reputed to offer 300 days of sunshine a year, it is a quaint little coastal town surrounded by the hills of the Garraf National Park.
Sitges old town has typically Spanish narrow streets leading down to a palm tree lined promenade that runs along an open bay with it's many beaches.
The town has been built on an industry of fishing, commerce and wine, and has been much favored by artists, the bohemian crowd and more recently has developed a large gay community. A tourist resort since the 1800s, Sitges offers much more than just a beach resort.
Sitges is located just to the south of Barcelona, and is about a 20 minute drive from Barcelona’s El Prat international airport.

Sitges is a beautiful coastal town 35 kilometres southwest of Barcelona, in Catalonia, renowned worldwide for its Film Festival and Carnival.
Located close to the Garraf Massif, it is known for its beaches, thriving gay community, nightspots, and historical sites.
The town became a centre for the 1960s counterculture in mainland Spain and became known as Ibiza in miniature.
Almost 35% of the approximately 26,000 permanent inhabitants are from the Netherlands, the UK, France and Scandinavia, whose children attend international schools in the area. There are 17 beaches and Sitges has been referred to as the Saint-Tropez of Spain, with property prices approaching those of the most expensive European cities, due to the coastal setting and the surrounding Parc Natural del Garraf. It also has close Proximity to Barcelona-El Prat Airport.

Cunit se encuentra situado en la comarca del Bajo Panadés y en la provincia de Tarragona aunque está incluido en la tercera corona de la región urbana de Barcelona. Limita con Segur de Calafell (localidad del municipio de Calafell), de la misma comarca, así como con Cubellas, en la comarca del Garraf, y Castellet y Gornal, en la comarca del Alto Panadés, ambos de la provincia de Barcelona.
Su paisaje es típicamente mediterráneo; desde los 2,5 km de playas de arena fina, protegidas por los espigones que le proporciona sus formas semicirculares características, pasando por las planicies agrícolas (denominadas Prats de Cunit i Plana del Castell) hasta las sierras del centro (Sierra de Sant Antoni) y norte del municipio, siendo parte de las últimas montañas de la sierra litoral catalana.
Las montañas más altas se encuentran en las sierras del norte. Destacan el cerro de Cal Santó, con 141 metros de altura, el cerro del Avenc (141,2 m) y el pico de la Nina (194,9 m).

In this episode we head back into town to continue exploring the must see sites in the spanish city of Tarragona, Located south of Barcelona Tarragona is one of our favourite cities and it had a really nice Mediterranean vibe about it.
In fact we liked it so much that we ended up sleeping there for 2 nights.
We found a great free secure parking with services a short drive from the city , which acted as a great over night stop.

Trip to Altafulla Beach in Tarragona, Spain - Where to Eat in the Village
Getting to Altafulla Beach from Barcelona City is easy. Just took a Renfe Train from Passeig de Gracia, and stopped at Altafulla Train Station. It’s about an hour and 20 minutes ride (about 17€ two-way). The beach is lovely with many restaurants to dine in with family and friends.
