Santo Domingo Travel Guide! In this video we're in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic exploring the Colonial Zone for this best things to do in city in 48 hours.
We start off at Independencia Park. Here you'll find a plaza with many statues as well as a mausoleum of the founding fathers of the Dominican Republic.
From here we make our way to El Conde, the main pedestrian street in this part of the city where you'll find vendors, performers, restaurants and lots of shops. We pick up a drink (Presidente beer) while we walk. Eventually ending up at Parque Colon (Columbus Park) which has a statue of Christopher Columbus in the centre. We also take a look at the amazing cathedral here in the square, which happens to be the oldest Cathedral in the Americas and is called The Cathedral of Santa María la Menor.
We pick things up the next day where we show off our cute hotel called Casa Sanchez, including the rooftop, pool and our room.
We then head to another big square in the Colonial Zone called Plaza de Espana where you'll find the Alcazar De Colon.
After walking down a beautiful and historic street we head into the Fortaleza Ozama where we walk around and explore the castle/fortress, the grounds and check out the amazing view.
Lastly we head to a rooftop bar called SugarCane which happens to have an amazing view of the cathedral and Parque Colon.

Did you know that Santo Domingo is the site of the first university, cathedral, castle, monastery, and fortress in the New World? Before the island was colonized by the Spaniards, the native Taino people populated the island why the called Quisqueya (mother of all lands) and Ayiti (land of high mountains).
Many tourists visit Punta Cana for parties and the nightlife, but if you are into history, Santo Domingo has a lot in store. You will find many things to do when you are visiting the capital city of the Dominican Republic. Our tour started in the Zona Colonial and it is the historic central neighborhood of Santo Domingo and the oldest permanent European settlement of the Americas. It has also been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

In this video we're exploring the 2nd biggest city in the Dominican Republic, Santiago de los Caballeros. As we explore the city we discuss one of the main questions we get asked all the time, Is the Dominican Republic safe and do we feel safe in the Dominican Republic. We talk about the most safe and unsafe things here in this country and also give some advice for how to protect your own safety while travelling.
In Santiago de los Caballeros we visit:
