Cisneros es un municipio de Colombia, localizado en la subregión Nordeste del departamento de Antioquia. Limita por el norte con el municipio de Yolombó, por el este con los municipios de Yolombó y Santo Domingo, y por el sur con Santo Domingo.
Fue fundado a la par con la inauguración del servicio de trenes del Ferrocarril de Antioquia, habitado años atrás por indígenas Tahamíes quienes practicaban la agricultura, la orfebrería y la cerámica. En 1898 se dispuso que La Quiebra llevara el nombre de Cisneros, apellido del ingeniero cubano Javier Cisneros, responsable de la construcción del ferrocarril de Antioquia. Es en 1923 cuando el poblado adquiere la condición de municipio. A las 2:00 p.m. de la tarde de jueves 3 de febrero de 1910, con asistencia el señor Presidente de la República, General Ramón González Valencia, su Ministro de Obras Públicas, doctor Carlos J. Delgado; el general Pedro Nel Ospina; el doctor Carlos E. Restrepo, Nicolás Esguerra, Antonio José Uribe, Enrique W. Fernández, Carlos Cock, Gerente del Ferrocarril de Antioquia, el doctor Jorge Páez G, ingeniero jefe de la empresa y altas personalidades de Medellín, inauguraron solemnemente la Estación de Cisneros del Ferrocarril de Antioquia.
Este y no otro, es el origen de la población, y ésta también la fecha exacta de su fundación. Es pues Cisneros, obra del Ferrocarril de Antioquia. Por muchos años fue la Estación Cisneros terminal de la línea del Nús del Ferrocarril que habría de unir a Medellín con el río Magdalena.

Notes: It's about a half hour taxi ride from the international airport to the city centre so plan this quick trip accordingly.
Proof of vaccine was still required at the airport when I went in Jan 2023, so make sure you have that before entering Colombia.
The local currency is the Colombian peso and 1 USD = roughly 4700 COP.
I know the Medellin metro is iconic and the locals are very proud of it but I personally chose to take Ubers everywhere because of how little time there was and also it's very cheap (a 20 min journey will cost you roughly 2-3$).
I also know this video doesn't cover EVERYTHING Medellin offers, for example a visit to Communa 13, but as always - this is just my opinion on the best way to spend half a day here.
There was different ways to pronounce Medellin. I've asked a few locals and some say MedeYin whilst others say MedeZHin (how I say it). I feel there's no one correct way so whatever feels most natural to you. With my Argentine accent in Spanish, I always pronounce the double L sound as a 'zh'.

Medellín is the capital of Colombia’s mountainous Antioquia province. Nicknamed the “City of Eternal Spring” for its temperate weather, it hosts a famous annual Flower Festival. Medellín es capital del departamento de Antioquia. Es la ciudad más poblada del departamento y la segunda más poblada del país después de Bogotá. Se asienta en la parte más ancha de la región natural conocida como Valle de Aburrá, en la cordillera central de los Andes. Se extiende a ambas orillas del río Medellín, que la atraviesa de sur a norte, y es el núcleo principal del área metropolitana del Valle de Aburrá.
La ciudad tiene una población proyectada de 2 508 452 habitantes (2018), mientras que dicha cifra, incluyendo el área metropolitana, asciende a 3 821 797 personas (2016).
En 1826 fue designada capital de Antioquia, título que ostentaba Santa Fe de Antioquia desde la época colonial. Durante el siglo XIX, Medellín se desarrolló como un centro dinámico de comercio, primero exportando oro, y posteriormente mercancías provenientes de la industrialización de la ciudad.
Como capital departamental, Medellín alberga las sedes de la Gobernación de Antioquia, la Asamblea Departamental, el Tribunal Superior del Distrito Judicial de Medellín, el Área metropolitana del Valle de Aburrá y la Fiscalía General, así como diferentes empresas públicas, instituciones y organismos del estado colombiano; es sede de empresas nacionales e internacionales en sectores como: textil, confecciones, metalmecánico, energético, financiero, salud, telecomunicaciones, construcción, automotriz, y alimentos, entre otros.
