Sheffield is located in the south of Yorkshire, and this county is one the finest in England for being cold, rainy and damp. the south side is the scary part of Yorkshire, the east side of Yorkshire is one of the best, and west side is okay. The only thing good going for them is the peak district.

Leeds is a city in the northern English county of Yorkshire. On the south bank of the River Aire, the Royal Armouries houses the national collection of arms and artillery. Across the river, the redeveloped industrial area around Call Lane is famed for bars and live music venues under converted railway arches. Leeds Kirkgate Market features hundreds of indoor and outdoor stalls.

Leeds is a local government district of West Yorkshire, England, governed by Leeds City Council, with the status of a city and metropolitan borough. The metropolitan district includes the administrative centre Leeds and the ten towns of Farsley, Garforth, Guiseley, Horsforth, Morley, Otley, Pudsey, Rothwell, Wetherby and Yeadon.

The current city boundaries were set on 1 April 1974 by the provisions of the Local Government Act 1972, as part a reform of local government in England. The city is a merger of eleven former local government districts; the unitary City and County Borough of Leeds combined with the municipal boroughs of Morley and Pudsey, the urban districts of Aireborough, Garforth, Horsforth, Otley and Rothwell, and parts of the rural districts of Tadcaster, Wharfedale and Wetherby from the West Riding of Yorkshire.

For its first 12 years the city had a two-tier system of local government; Leeds City Council shared power with the West Yorkshire County Council. Since the Local Government Act 1985 Leeds City Council has effectively been a unitary authority, serving as the sole executive, deliberative and legislative body responsible for local policy, setting council tax, and allocating budget in the city, and is a member of the Leeds City Region Partnership. Thc City of Leeds is divided into 31 civil parishes and a single unparished area.

Short Walk in the dirtiest Neighbourhood in England / Page Hall & Surrounding areas

A winters stroll in Lancashire's past - visiting Edgworth, Chapeltown and Turton Tower.

We explore the history of southern Lancashire, finding a medieval tower with matching medieval railway bridges! Two villages where local philaphasis provided private baths and education!

Starting at Turton Tower we proceed to Jumbles Country Park and then follow Bradshaw Brook to the outskirts of Edgworth. Skirting Edgworth we pass the Old Russia Lodge Mill Chimney before descending on the Barlow Institute. From Edgworth we pass along the dam of Wayoh Reservoir to venture into Chapeltown. Here we view some of the buildings connected to the Chetham's family. Next, exploring the medieval turreted railway bridges we then approach Turton Tower from the North.

The walk is about four and half miles and is generally flat with just one set of steep steps, and underfoot conditions that are generally good as reasonable amount of roads and cobblestones. However, there are a few places where it can get very muddy when we have had persistent rain.

If you enjoy the great outdoors and appreciate the views of the countryside with a curiosity as to the development and history of the structures within the landscape, this video is for you.

Chapel Allerton In Leeds

A short Ariel view of the area

Holmes Chapel Cheshire

Holmes Chapel is a large village and civil parish in the unitary authority area of Cheshire East and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. Until 1974 the parish was known as Church Hulme.[2] Holmes Chapel is about 8 miles (13 km) north of Crewe and 21 miles (34 km) south of Manchester.

ECCLESFIELD: Sheffield Parish #1 of 3

Welcome to SHEFFIELD!

Open land near a Romano-British Christian church. That’s the meaning of this place, or at least one of them that’s believed anyway. An alternative suggestion is that the first element derives from a Saxon personal name or an association with water – and water is found in abundance here.

This parish is made up of five principal settlements including Chapeltown, High Green, Burncross and Grenoside and the small hamlet of Whitley. With some 32,073 people living here at the 2011 Census, this is South Yorkshire’s biggest in terms of population

The Minster of the Moors” is a title that could grace any church but here, that’s what this one was known as. It was once the church for the whole of Hallamshire, incorporating the parishes of Sheffield (which incidentally is now based at Sheffield Cathedral) and Bradfield.

You’ll find a priory here too along with several old buildings, some coal mining, ironworking and even sandstone workings in its past. This is the parish of Sheffield that gave us the Arctic Monkeys, and it’s also one steeped in railway history too. Way more than I could possibly fit into one episode of TVI, this one spans a huge area of the North Eastern corner of the City of Sheffield.

This is the stupendously large and very interesting parish of ECCLESFIELD.

My name is Andy. I am armed with a car, a GoPro and an unhealthy amount of time on my hands.

Leeds Lock down walk Chapeltown 4K

Chapeltown Central Lost Railway Station, Sheffield

Chapeltown Central Lost Railway Station, Sheffield and instructions on how to find it.

The next installment of Sheffield's Lost Stations and in episode 7 we are continuing along the Blackburn Valley line, the former South Yorkshire Railway and Great Central Railway.

Nestled away in the woods, Parkin Wood to be exact, is the old Chapeltown Central (also known as Chapeltown & Thorncliffe) station.

The station opened in 1854 by the South Yorkshire Railway. It closed in 1953 along with the other stations we saw on the line.

Now a private residence, it is difficult to get a clear view of the station other than at a distance from the road, or through the trees from the public footpaths within Parkin Wood. However, you can get a clearer view of some of the platform remains as well as the stunning semaphore signal gantry that still stands proud at the end of the station site.

Leeds City - A visit

City Life in March 2016.

Leeds UK walking tour 2022 4K UHD

Leeds is a city in the county of West Yorkshire, England. The city lies in the valley of the River Aire in the eastern foothills of the Pennines. The city is the largest in the county with a population of 812,000.
Leeds was a small manorial borough in the 13th century, becoming a major centre for the production and trading of wool in the 17th and 18th centuries, then a major mill town during the Industrial Revolution; wool was still the dominant industry, but flax, engineering, iron foundries, printing, and other industries were also important. From being a market town in the valley of the River Aire in the 16th century, Leeds expanded and overtook nearby York in importance, absorbing surrounding villages to become a populous urban centre by the 20th century, having attained City status in 1893.Leeds is well known for being the location where carbonated water was invented in the 1760s
