The Dominican Republic can be a gorgeous getaway for travelers of every stripe. Of course, as with any foreign travel, it’s important to do your homework before you get on the plane. Here’s how to make the most of it.
1. Check Out Historical Santo Domingo
You should think about taking a day to explore Santo Domingo, the oldest city in the Americas. Several day-long tours will take you to all the most exciting sites in this historical city. There’s plenty to experience in Santo Domingo.
2. Don’t Drink the Water
Play it safe. The drinking water in the Dominican Republic is mostly unclean, so you should avoid drinking any water that doesn’t come directly from a sealed bottle. Stay hydrated, but spring for the bottled stuff.
3. Take it Easy on the Coconut
If you want to avoid hugging the toilet for one of your days, you might want to take it easy on the coconut-themed drinks. While delicious, coconuts also act as a laxative. Exercise a little bit of caution.
4. Visit Indigenous Eyes Ecological Park & Reserve
Several hotels in the area offer free access to the reserve, which means you can enjoy some of the most pristine natural offerings the Dominican Republic has to offer.
5. Stroll Through the National Botanical Garden
It’s easy to lose yourself among this gorgeously curated selection of greenery that’s filled with carefully chosen plants and birds. Learn about the botany of the Dominican Republic, even as you enjoy the aesthetic beauty that abounds.
6. Visit the Alcazar de Colon at Night
This imposing Spanish castle was built by the son of Christopher Columbus in 1510. It’s especially breathtaking at night. And thanks to the abundance of se-curity personnel around the palace, you don’t need to be concerned about safety when the sun goes down.
7. Take a Dip at Hoyo Azul
This Punta Cana destination will surprise you at every turn. Hoyo Azul is a la-goon plopped at the bottom of a 65-meter-high cliff. Swimming is open to visi-tors, so be sure to spend a little time dipping your toe in Hoyo Azul’s turquois water.
8. Take a Tour With Hispaniola Aquatic Adventures

48 Hours in Santo Domingo. Dominican Republic 2021. Travel Guide + Colonial Zone Tour ????????
Santo Domingo Travel Guide! In this video we're in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic exploring the Colonial Zone for this best things to do in city in 48 hours.
We start off at Independencia Park. Here you'll find a plaza with many statues as well as a mausoleum of the founding fathers of the Dominican Republic.
From here we make our way to El Conde, the main pedestrian street in this part of the city where you'll find vendors, performers, restaurants and lots of shops. We pick up a drink (Presidente beer) while we walk. Eventually ending up at Parque Colon (Columbus Park) which has a statue of Christopher Columbus in the centre. We also take a look at the amazing cathedral here in the square, which happens to be the oldest Cathedral in the Americas and is called The Cathedral of Santa María la Menor.
We pick things up the next day where we show off our cute hotel called Casa Sanchez, including the rooftop, pool and our room.
We then head to another big square in the Colonial Zone called Plaza de Espana where you'll find the Alcazar De Colon.
After walking down a beautiful and historic street we head into the Fortaleza Ozama where we walk around and explore the castle/fortress, the grounds and check out the amazing view.
Lastly we head to a rooftop bar called SugarCane which happens to have an amazing view of the cathedral and Parque Colon.

EN: We at *Palms Island* Apartmentsrentals, warmly welcome our new tenants! Instead of our traditional barbecue, this time we decided to leave the house. Our goal was an art gallery Castillo Mundo King in Sosua. This is something unique and quite amazing! After negotiating almost abandoned streets above Sosua, there suddenly before your eyes appears this alien like structure with architecture from another world. Inside is a maze in which one can easily get lost. At one point I forgot my bag in after taking photographs. We then spent the next 30 minutes trying to find the area where I had left it! But not only did I forget my bag I felt like I was lost in time and space, in another world!! Every corner, every wall is another strange work of art. Sculptures, intricate Carvings, Paintings, Masks stimulating the imagination. Stone, Wood, Iron, Oil painting, Graffiti. Mythology, Modern Art, Futuristic Art and classic art typical to the country. Everything was found in this fantasy gallery. We were happy to share this experience with our new tenants and to open them to the possibilies of the Dominican Republic. Even for us this was a new experience, we live and learn about this country every day.

Его строение не охватить ни умом, ни взглядом. Внутри: это просто лабиринт. Забытую сумку после фотографирования мы искали 30 минут! Но там можно забыть не только сумку. Ты забываешь там время и теряешь пространство. Каждый уголок, каждая стена представляет собой произведение исскуства. Скульптуры, резка, картины, маски. Конкретного направления нет. Полёт фантазии: не ограничен. Камень, дерево, железо, картины маслом, графити. Мифология, арт модерн, футуристика, типичная стране классика. Всему нашлось место! Мы были безумно счастливы разделить этот опыт с нашими новыми жильцами и открыть с ними Доминикану и для себя тоже..

Traveling Solo To Santo Domingo Dominican Republic-Staying in a CASTLE and Eating Dinner With Locals
Many people warned me about the Dominican Republic traveling solo as a girl, and they warned me especially about Santo Domingo. So I am not going to lie I was a little worried flying into Dominican Republic, however, when I got there I was welcomed by a friendly driver sent by my Mauad Hotel. Also, when I got there the owners friend took me out to dinner where I got to meet a few other girls that made my first night in Dominican Republic super fun.
