Tejeda is a village and a municipality in the mountainous central part of the island of Gran Canaria in the province of Las Palmas in the Canary Islands.
Location
The village of Tejeda is situated 6 km (4 mi) north-west of the Pico de las Nieves and 23 km (14 mi) south-west of the island capital Las Palmas.
Geography
The municipality's area is 103.3 km2 (39.9 sq mi), spreading near the centre of the island, on the latter's west side.
The south-eastern part of its territory includes the second highest point of Gran Canaria island, Pico de las Nieves (Snows Peak) - 1,949 m (6,394 ft). Other remarkable summits in the municipality are Roque Nublo (Cloud Rock) 813 m (2,667 ft) and Roque Bentayga (Bentayga Rock) with its ritual place (almogarén) and other features. Close by are the cuevas del Rey (the King's caves, 1 km to the west of Rock Bentayga), an antique cave house village with granaries; and 2 km further west the antique cave house village of Acusa Seca. All these sites are listed Spanish Heritage as Properties of cultural interest (Bien de Interés Cultural).

The village of Tejeda sits on the eastern edge of a volcanic basin or crater that bears its name (caldera de Tejeda).
The caldera’s dimensions are 28 km x 18 km, with a surface that extends from the head of Agaete's ravine (barranco de Agaete) near Artenara, to Verde Andén (Green Platform) in the west, Veneguera and the head of Mogán ravine (barranco de Mogán) up to Arguineguín's ravine (barranco de Arguineguin). Only half of its perimeter remains standing; on what is left of it are found a few green-bluish peaks (such as azulejos de Veneguera - Veneguera's tiles) and below these are the oldest basalts of the island, primitive substrate of Grand Canary.
The caldera was produced in probably less than two hours, by the explosion of the residual magma chambers During the collapse of the caldera de Tejera ignimbrite rock was produced, with a pink matrix dotted with white crystals. It exists because the explosive eruption by which the caldera collapsed was so powerful that the magma was pulverized in a very fine spray and created almost microscopic structures in the matrix rock. Ignimbrita is found on the outside of the periphery of the caldera.
The caldera also bears traces of a 2 million year period of evolution. This is especially notable at the heads of the Agaete ravine (barranco de Agaete) and Mogan ravine (barranco de Mogan), where we can see horizontal basaltic lavas in their lower parts and, above, thicker material in sloping layers.
Another rare feature of the caldera is its system of conical dykes in its center, that were damaged by the eruptions and determined the structure of the island by their own structure. The lava passed through these dykes during some eruptions, in particular basaltic eruptions ; this created a crack in the surrounding channels where the lava was injected, and from them the volcano arose. In Grand Canary these conical dykes were centered on a focal point located roughly 2 km under sea level, at what was in the past the center of the island. New magma would then tend to also take the same conical shape. Conical dykes of this size are not found in other islands; Vallehermoso on La Gomera island has some smaller ones.
Biologist Juan Sergio Socorro considers this crater to be one of the few clear examples in the world of a very large collapsed volcanic crater, particularly in comparison to the Cañadas del Teide for which several theories are held regarding its formation.

Andalucia Property 4 bedrooms, two floor internal patio in Ventas del Carrizal 67,000 euros
A great property that is a blank canvas yet with some lovely original features and NEW roof.
The hallway feels light and airy on entering and leads to a living room, kitchen (with open fire) and gives access to the first floor which can be used as a separate apartment. The kitchen takes you to a lovely central courtyard which gives access to a bathroom, bedroom and hallway and a room with a fireplace that could be used as additional kitchen storage or hobby room.
The metal stairs in the patio lead to a first floor patio which then gives access to a further three rooms, one with a well to supply the water deposit tank. The water boiler is gas and located under the metal patio stairs.
The first floor of the property is accessed from its hallway which has a lockable door giving access to the stairs. The first floor comprises of three bedrooms, a kitchen and newly refurbished bathroom. The kitchen on this floor houses yet another open fire. There is no water supply to the kitchen but can easily be fed through, with new pipes.
Please note that all three open fires have been sealed off but can be reopened and used as an open fire or with a log burner.
Windows are all single glazed, iron upstairs and aluminium downstairs.
Malaga airport is 1 hour 45 minutes drive away and Grada airport is 40 minutes drive.
Ventas del Carrizal is a friendly village with three good bars/restaurants, shop and pharmacy.

Video con el tour completo DESIERTO FLORIDO 2022 PARQUE NACIONAL LLANOS DE CHALLE desde 'Santiago' en el norte de Chile. Viaje con la agencia 'Chile Sorpréndeme'.
Este tour sale desde 'Metro Los Héroes', viajamos toda la noche en bus y llegamos en la mañana a 'Huasco', lugar donde vemos la costanera y también el mar. El objetivo del tour es conocer las floraciones del Desierto de Atacama, fenómeno que existe solo en algunas primaveras después de una gran lluvia. El desierto florido del año 2022 se estima que será una de las mayores floraciones.
Los buses paran en el camino, la Ruta C-10, para que podamos ver flores en el desierto, además de zonas como 'Carrizal Bajo' y el renombrado Parque Nacional 'Llanos de Challe'. Esta área protegida es uno de los mayores puntos de observación de flores y fauna en el sector, teniendo una gran biodiversidad.
En el viaje pudimos ver flores muy lindas, destacando especies como el huilli (Leucocoryne appendiculata), adesmia (Adesmia eremophila), coronilla de fraile (Encelia canescens), añañuca amarilla (Rhodophiala bagnoldii), flor de jote o terciopelo (Argylia radiata), celestinas (Zephyra elegans), clavelillos (Schizopetalon maritimum), amancay (Balbisia peduncularis), tabaco cimarrón (Nicotiana solanifolia), copao (Eulychnia acida), pata de guanaco (Cistanthe grandiflora) , flores de suspiro (Nolana acuminata), y muchas otras.
En la tarde, disfrutamos de Playa Blanca, en el mismo lugar de Llanos de Challe. Es una playa hermosa de arenas blancas, aguas calmas, un lugar hermoso. Y después paramos en una quebrada, y en 'Huasco' tanto para conocer un tour de olivos centenarios, como para finalizar la ruta con el atardecer en el mar.

PUERTO DE MOGAN, GRAN CANARIA | A Taste of MOGAN (aka Little Venice)
Puerto de Mogan is one of our favourite places to visit in Gran Canaria. Situated on the southwest coast of the island this charming resort never fails to disappoint ???? It really is beautiful, which is why it is often referred to as 'Little Venice'. It's the perfect place to visit on a Friday when there is a weekly market selling traditional Canarian crafts including leather items, textiles, ceramics and lots more. As well as being home to an impressive Marina, Puerto Mogan also boasts a gorgeous beach which is perfect for relaxing on ????(which is one of the reason this vlog is shorter than some of our other ones!) When in Mogan chillaxing is definitely what we'd recommend. And of course sampling food from the various restaurants lining the waterfront. One of our favourites is Gelatomania which always offers fresh tasting food, delicious smoothies and amazing ice cream ????
