Exploring the sights of Almeria Spain

Exploring the sights of Almeria Spain

In this episode our friends Rocio and Javier show us the sights of their hometown - Almeria. Almeria has had a number of movies made there and there is walk of fame in the city.

If you want some great views over the city then head up to the Alcazaba. This fortress over looks the city of Almereia and you get the most wonderful aerial views - especially as the sun is going down. Famously the site was used as on of the filming locations for the TV series Game of Thrones.

In the evening we were treated to some home cooked Paella , which was delicious and Trudy got her brakes checked.

We hope that you enjoy this episode .

MOJACAR - Is this Spain’s prettiest town? Van Life Spain ????????

Mojácar, the white washed village on the coast of the Spanish province of Almería is a popular destination for holiday makers as well as for people who are looking to live permanently under the Spanish sun.

Mojacar was declared one of Spain’s prettiest towns in 2003, and it’s no wonder why. With more than 3000 hours of sun a year, less than 200mm of rain per year, an average yearly temperature of around 20 °C and a minimum temperature never dropping below 4 °C - we think this makes it a great place to visit any time of the year!

Mojacar is in fact made up of two parts: Mojacar Pueblo (the town) and Mojacar Playa (the beaches).

The town is an elevated mountain village of whitewashed houses located about 170 metres above sea level on a hilltop, at the end of Sierra Cabrera, in Almeria province.

Mojacar town has a long history. Back in 1488, when all the towns of the region had surrendered to the Catholic Monarchs, Alavez, the Moorish ruler of Mojacar at the time, refused to hand over the town. He reportedly said that he was as much Spanish as the Catholic Monarchs and that he didn’t want to engage in a war against Christians, but rather wanted the inhabitants of Mojacar to be treated as brothers, and not as enemies. King Ferdinand and Queen Isabel accepted Alavez’s pledge of loyalty and the village kept prospering.

The town enjoyed a period of great economic prosperity after silver was discovered at the beginning of the 19th century. However, this didn’t last long and at the start of the 20th century, the silver mines closed and the town suffered wars, droughts and diseases. This led to a drastic drop in population, leaving less than 300 inhabitants living in the Mojacar area during the mid-20th century

Then, in the 1960s, the mayor of Mojacar began offering land to those who would commit to restoring the ruined town. The mayor’s proposal was extremely appealing to artists, intellectuals, and journalists from every part of the world, who fell in love with Mojacar’s location and long-time history.

Together with the renovation of Mojacar Pueblo’s houses and streets, new residential areas also began to be built along the seashore, thus giving birth to the impressive Mojacar Playa as a tourist destination that we see today.

The beaches of Mojacar are some of the most appealing along the seashores of Almeria. Almost half of the 17 km worth of sandy beaches have been granted the Blue Flag status.

Agua Amarga (Cabo de Gata Natural Park) Almeria, Spain

Personal record of a visit to Agua Amarga.
This follows on from our dashcam drive starting at Garrucha and going to Sorbas before coming down to Agua Amarga. We will be heading up to Carboneras and a fantastic viewpoint/mirador on the way back to Mojacar and Garrucha where we started in our next video.
Agua Amarga is a lovely little pueblo in the coast in the Cabo de Gata Natural Park. Great being able to park on the beach, probably not so easy in summer.
Just a very short drive south from Carboneras. A really nice beach with toilets and changing facilities in season. Well worth a visit, we have a few times.

Cabo de Nata-níjar Natural Park in Almeria Province is like no other area in Europe. Classed as a semi-arid dessert it is a place to explore crystal clear seas, white sandy beaches and the dry dusty interior.

This is How People Live in RURAL & FORGOTTEN Spain ????????

Rural Spain videos:

@RealLifeLore Did a video on population and demographics in Spain so I thought I'd go an adventure Northern Spain to find out for myself. Bald and Bankrupt is always showing Eastern Europe, but in this video I bring you to the abandoned ghost villages of Western Europe - this time in Northern Spain. It's hard to believe there are places like this in Western Europe (Asturias Spain) in 2022.. Whilst on the Camino de Santiago I discovered several desolate and empty ghost towns/villages where some people still inhabit the villages.

Adventure Elliot is a bilingual travel vlogger (English and Spanish) with a particular interest in the Spanish speaking world. I enjoy taking adventures - big or small - and my goal is to show the Spanish speaking world 1 video at a time.
The goal of my channel is simple yet complex: I want to document and share authentic & educational content of anything related to Adventure Travel, Geography, & Language in the Spanish-speaking world. It's kind of a loaded topic, but it allows me to never exhaust my creative outlets. The truth is, I've always been extremely passionate about what I'm doing on my channel, but I never properly documented it when I started adventuring as a younger man in my college years. I've made over 150 Youtube videos in both English and Spanish, and I have aspirations to make 1000s more. If that sounds interesting to you, join the community and follow me along the way.. After all, we're just getting started.

Carboneras Almeria Spain

Anaga TF-9 Three Villages Trail with a stunning ridge walk ⛰️ | Las Carboneras - Taborno - Afur

NEED HELP WITH PLANNING YOUR HIKES IN TENERIFE? WHICH ARE THE BEST ROUTES?
➡️ Guide to all routes in the Anaga Rural Park in Tenerife:

⭐ TRAIL DESCRIPTION ⭐
A video tour of the TF-9 Three Villages trail in the Anaga Rural Park in Tenerife. This official one-way trail goes from Las Carboneras village to Taborno village to Afur village (or vice versa).

The trail would not be a first choice for a novice hiker in Tenerife, but has its highlights like the superb ridge walk at the start of the video and the possibility to see three villages in one hike. Consider doing this trail after you have done the circular TF-8 (or TF-6) and TF-11 from Cruz Del Carmen to Punta del Hidalgo.

The trail is a bit more than 7km long. If you want to make the hike more impressive, consider adding a 3,5km circle around the ⛰️ Roque the Taborno in the middle of the trail. This will make the experience more special.

If you want to finish the hike with a meal ????️, go from Afur to Las Carboneras, as the latter has at least 2 eateries, while Afur has only a bar with some snacks and pastries.

CAN YOU TRUST THIS VIDEO?
