Vilafranca del Penedès is a municipality in the province of Barcelona in the community of Catalonia, Spain. Capital of the Alto Panadés region, around 40,000 inhabitants. It is situated in the Penedès Depression on the left bank of the Foix River. It is known for its sparkling wines, Catalan cava, and wines from the Penedés designation of origin.
The town was founded in the middle of the 12th century as a result of the decline of Olèrdola, which had been until then the main local centre. Vilafranca is known internationally for its wines : Catalan cava and wines from the Penedès Designation of Origin (DO), with multinational brands such as Bodegas Torres . Apart from wines and cavas, Vilafranca is also known for the Castellers de Vilafranca and its Festa Major, which has one of the oldest dragons in Europe (around 1600) and about twenty dances, snacks and casteller groups.
The Castellers de Vilafranca group was founded in September 1948, by Oriol Rosell, who was its first leader. The beginnings were marked by the achievement of the first castles of seven and by the close relations with the other gangs of the time. During these years, the gang leaders were Oriol Rosell (1948-1952) and Ramon Sala (1953-1955) and the color of the shirt was pink, first, and red, later.

From this set stands out the whole Jewish quarter and more particularly the Miqvé.
The Miqvé or ritual bathhouse of Besalú is, with the Miqvé of Girona, the only Jewish bath enclosure discovered so far in the Iberian Peninsula. It is a stone house with a barrel vault, typical of the Romanesque style, dating from the twelfth century.
The majestic Romanesque bridge that spans the river Fluvià is one of the other vestiges of the County of Besalú, which together with that of Barcelona, Ripoll and Girona, saw the birth of the Catalan nation. However, it is not enough to appreciate Besalú only for its monuments but also for the medieval air of its streets full of memories.
Among the religious monuments are the churches of Sant Pere, Santa María and Sant Vicenç, which combine Romanesque and Gothic elements. In addition, the church of Sant Julià has a remarkable portal decorated in a profuse way. The Jewish Quarter, meanwhile, is home to medieval baths, dedicated to Jewish ritual ablutions.

The town of Besalú is situated on an important and traditional crossroads in the east of La Garrotxa. Bisuldunum, its original name, was a fortress between two rivers: the Fluvià to the south and the Capellades to the north.
Besalú was the seat of an important independent county. It has a historical and artistic medieval core considered to be one of the best conserved in Catalonia. Forming part of this core is the old church of Sant Pere Monastery from the XII century, the highlight of which is the originality of its ambulatory; Sant Vicenç Church from the XII century, where a gothic side chapel is dedicated to La Vera Creu; the façade of the old church hospital of Sant Julià from the XII century; the Casa de Cornellà, a Romanesque monument from the XII century and the gothic room of La Cúria Reial palace. The Jewish Call is also a highlight, and especially El Miqvé.
Besalú's El Miqvé, or ritual bathhouse, is, with Girona's Miqvé, the only example of its kind so far discovered on the Iberian Peninsula. It is a stone house with a typically Romanesque barrel vault dating back to the XII century.
The majestic Romanesque bridge over the Fluvià river is another vestige from the County of Besalú, that together with Barcelona, Ripoll and Girona, were the birthplace of the Catalan nation. Besalú has to be appreciated not just for its monuments but also for its medieval atmosphere that permeates its memory-filled streets.

Casa Milà, popularly known as La Pedrera or The stone quarry, a reference to its unconventional rough-hewn appearance, is a modernist building in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It was the last private residence designed by architect Antoni Gaudí and was built between 1906 and 1912. The building was commissioned in 1906 by Pere Milà and his wife Roser Segimon. At the time, it was controversial because of its undulating stone facade, twisting wrought iron balconies and designed by Josep Maria Jujol. Several structural innovations include a self-supporting stone façade, and a free-plan floor, underground garage and the spectacular on the roof-terrace. In 1984, it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. From 2013 is the headquarters of the Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera which manages the visit to the building, exhibitions and other cultural and educative activities at Casa Milà.
