What are the most dangerous areas in England? In recent years, crime has been the single most potent threat to security in England as well as in other parts of the world. For that reason, you can’t afford to turn a deaf ear whenever the discussion is about crime-ridden areas. This video focuses on the recent crime situation in England. It is about the overall number of crimes and their rate in the policing areas of England. Thus, we present the 10 most dangerous Policing areas for crime in England. We modestly acknowledge the fact there can be contrary figures regarding the rate. Yet, we believe you and we can rely to a very large extent on figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS). That is the basis of our ranking in this video.
10. Durham
The first policing area we shall be talking about is County Durham, simply referred to officially as Durham. Its county town is the city of Durham. It is a ceremonial county spawning from the historic County Palatine of Durham. It is also one of the 10 most dangerous counties in the UK. The most common crimes here are violence and sexual offenses. About 40 out of 1,000 residents experience either of these. The crime rate in Durban is 89.6 per 1,000 residents, according to the ONS while the police force says it is 88 per 1,000 residents.
9. Northumbria
Northumbria is the next policing areas on our list. The early medieval Anglo-Saxon kingdom which is in what is now Northern England derives its name from an Old English word meaning “the people or province north of the Humber.” This differentiates the area from the home of the people south of the Humber Estuary. As far as crime is concerned, Northumberland is currently among the most dangerous in the record of the ONS. The overall crime rate in Northumberland in the year leading to June 2021 was 89.7 crimes per 1,000 people. The commonest crimes in the area during the period were violence and sexual offenses. More than 31 out of 1,000 residents experienced either of these during this time.
8. Kent
Kent is in South East England where it borders Greater London to the northwest while sharing its western border with Surrey, the southwestern border with East Sussex, and the northern border across the estuary of the River Thames with Essex. Maidstone is the county town of this one of the 10 most dangerous areas for crime in England. The crime rate during the year ending June 2021 in Kent was 91.4 per 1,000 residents. Another source while naming Kent as one of the top 10 most dangerous counties puts the overall crime rate there in 2021 as 87 crimes per 1,000 people. Violence and sexual offenses which were the most common crimes there happened to roughly every 44 out of 1,000 residents then.
7. Humberside
Humberside does not escape our attention here. The former non-metropolitan and ceremonial county in Northern England was composed of lands from the Humber Estuary on either side as a county. A national crime police report for June 2022 reveals that the Humberside Police received reports that were 5.2 percent more than the previous years. In our main source in this video, Humberside had an overall crime rate of 95.2 per 1,000 residents that year. Note also, that the area was one of the most dangerous for knife crime in 2021 and the situation hasn’t changed as of the time of this production.
6. South Yorkshire
This ceremonial and metropolitan county is in the area known as Yorkshire and Humber Region. It is one of the places discussed in our video mentioned with a 2021 knife crime rate of 43 offenses per 100,000 residents. In this video about the crime rate within the year ending June 2021, this county recorded 96 crimes per 1,000 residents. Another source listing South Yorkshire among the 5 most dangerous counties in the UK says the overall crime rate in the county in 2021 was 94 crimes per 1,000 people adding that the most common crimes which were violence and sexual offenses happened to about 38 out of 1,000 residents.

Mersea Island is an island in Essex, England, in the Blackwater and Colne estuaries to the south-east of Colchester. Its name comes from the Old English word meresig, meaning island of the pool. The island is split into two main areas, West Mersea and East Mersea, and connected to the mainland by the Strood, a causeway that can flood at high tide.
The island has been inhabited since pre-Roman times. It was used as a holiday destination in Roman Britain for occupants of Camulodunum (Colchester). Fishing has been a key industry on the island since then, particularly oysters, and along with tourism makes up a significant part of the island's economy. The Church of St Peter & St Paul in West Mersea is thought to have existed since the 7th century, while the Church of St Edmund in East Mersea dates from around the 12th or 13th centuries. The island became popular with smugglers from the 16th to the 19th century. It became a focal point for troops in both world wars, and a number of observation posts can still be found on the island. Tourism remains popular, and there are a number of beach huts and holiday parks on the island. A week-long festival of boat racing, Mersea Week, takes place every summer.
The island lies 9 miles (14 km) south-east of Colchester and 26 miles (42 km) east of the county town, Chelmsford. It is the most easterly inhabited and publicly accessible island in the United Kingdom and is one of 43 (unbridged) tidal islands which can be accessed on foot or by road from the British mainland. It is situated in the estuary area of the Blackwater and Colne rivers and has an area of around 7 square miles (18 km2). It is formed by the Pyefleet Channel to the north and the Strood Channel to the west, which connect the Blackwater to the Colne. The much smaller Ray Island lies adjacent to the north while the uninhabited Packing Marsh and Cobmarsh Islands lie to southwest.
Internally, the island is split between West Mersea, which is the main inhabited area containing the jetty and marina, and East Mersea, which is predominantly farmland and includes Cudmore Grove County Park to the east. There is also a small hamlet at Barrow Hill to the north of West Mersea. The land immediately facing the Blackwater is known as the Mersea flats, which is mostly beach that dries at low tide. The former Bradwell Power Station can be seen on the other side. West Mersea can be further divided into three areas. The Old City in the southwest of West Mersea serves the fishing and yachting industries and contains a number of listed buildings.
The main access to the island is via a causeway known as the Strood, carrying the Mersea–Colchester road (B1025). The road is often covered at high tides and especially during spring tides. On average the causeway is flooded for a week per month on average. During the 1953 North Sea flood, the Strood was submerged under over 6 feet (2 m) of water, cutting off access to the mainland.
A regular bus service links West and East Mersea to Colchester via the Strood and Abberton. A foot ferry runs from East Mersea to Point Clear and Brightlingsea on the other side of the Colne estuary, including a scheduled service in the summer and a dial-on-demand service in the spring and autumn.

Langport is a small town and civil parish in Somerset, England, situated 5 miles west of Somerton in the South Somerset district. The parish has a population of 1,081. The parish includes the hamlets of Bowdens and Combe. Langport is contiguous with Huish Episcopi, a separate parish which includes much of the town's outskirts.
Langport (old forms are Langeberga, Langeport) consists of two parts, one on the hill and one by the river. The former owed its origin to its defensible position, and the latter its growth to its facilities for trade on the chief river of Somerset.[2] Its name looks like Anglo-Saxon for long port, but it may well be long market place which could have been on the causeway which is now Bow Street. Many of the houses in Bow Street tilt backwards due to settlement of the land behind the causeway. It is speculated that Langport is the place mentioned in old Welsh sources as Llongborth = Ship-port, where the Battle of Llongborth happened. Longphort is a term used in Ireland for a Viking ship enclosure or shore fortress, using an identical etymology. Langport was previously also known as Langport Eastover, with the part on the western bank being Langport Westover, now known just as Westover. Langport is on the ancient way from Glastonbury to Taunton.
Langport could well have been important during the Roman occupation as there were several villas in the vicinity. It was one of the forts listed in the Burghal Hidage indicating its strategic position to King Alfred, as well as being close to the royal centre of Somerton. In 1086 according to Domesday Book it had 34 resident burgesses and was worth the large sum of £79-10s-7d. The parish of Combe was part of the Kilmersdon Hundred, while Langport Eastover was within the Hundred of Pitney.
Langport lies on the east bank of the River Parrett, below the point where that river is joined by the River Yeo (Ivel). There is a causeway across the moor and an important bridge over the river. Below Langport the Parrett is tidal. The rivers flow from the southern hills through Thorney Moor and Kings Moor, through a gap between the upland areas around Somerton and Curry Rivel, onto the Somerset Levels through which it flows past Bridgwater to the Bristol Channel. During the winter the low-lying areas around Langport are sometimes flooded. Langport Railway Cutting is a Geological Conservation Review site where Gravels are exposed which show scour-and-fill structures consistent with braided stream deposition from the Pleistocene age.
Two buildings in the town, the Tudor House and The Warehouse in Great Bow Yard, have been restored by the Somerset Buildings Preservation Trust. Close to All Saints Church, an archway crosses the road, bearing a Perpendicular building known as The Hanging Chapel. After serving this purpose it housed first the grammar school (founded 1675), then the Quekett museum, named after John Thomas Quekett (1815–61) the histologist, a native of the town, whose father was master of the school. The hanging chapel afterwards became a masonic hall.

Southend-on-Sea, commonly referred to as simply Southend, is a town and wider unitary authority area with borough status in southeastern Essex, England. Southend on Sea lies on the north side of the Thames Estuary, 40 miles east of central London.
Southend on Sea is bordered to the north by Rochford and to the west by Castle Point. Southend on Sea is home to the longest leisure pier in the world, Southend Pier. London Southend Airport is located 1.5 NM (2.8 km; 1.7 mi) north of the town centre.
Southend-on-Sea originally consisted of a few poor fisherman huts and farms at the southern end of the village of Prittlewell. In the 1790s the first buildings around what was to become the High Street of Southend were completed. In the 19th century Southend's status of a seaside resort grew after a visit from Princess Caroline of Brunswick, and Southend Pier was constructed. From the 1960s onwards the town declined as a holiday destination. Southend was reinvented as the home of the Access credit card, due to it having one of the UK's first electronic telephone exchanges. After the 1960s much of the town centre was developed for commerce and retail, and many original structures were lost to redevelopment. An annual seafront airshow, started in 1986 when it featured a flypast by Concorde on a passenger charter flight, used to take place each May and became one of Europe's largest free airshows.
Southend is served by two National Rail lines. Running from Southend Victoria north out of the town is the Liverpool Street line, a branch of the Great Eastern Main Line operated by Abellio Greater Anglia. The services operate to London Liverpool Street via Prittlewell. London Southend Airport was developed from the military airfield at Rochford, opened as a civil airport in 1935, and now offers scheduled flights to destinations across Europe. Local public transport is provided by two main bus companies, Arriva Southend (formerly the council-owned Southend Corporation Transport) and First Essex Buses (formerly NBC/Eastern National/Thamesway). Minor companies include Stephensons of Essex, and Regal Busways.

We visit a Traditional British Sea Side town which is 1 hour train ride away from Central London called Leigh On Sea in Essex. You need to add this on your list of things to do & places to visit when you are near London.

This is a fishing village still used to this day where you can walk around the harbour with cutest shops and cafes. You can still see the small boats going around. In summer time, you can also come and enjoy one of the cutest beach in summer time.
We then head out to the Leigh Broadway where there is some high end shops, classy cafes and a classic British church.
We finalise our travel guide trip with one of the best Fish and Chips you will find in the area (10 mins from Leigh). It is also worth visiting this area when you are going for a day trip to Southend on Sea.

Canvey Island is a civil parish and reclaimed island in the Thames estuary in Essex, England. It has an area of 7.12 square miles (18.44 km2) and a population of 38,170. It is separated from the mainland of south Essex by a network of creeks. Lying only just above sea level, it is prone to flooding at exceptional tides but has nevertheless been inhabited since the Roman invasion of Britain.
The island was mainly agricultural land until the 20th century, when it became the fastest-growing seaside resort in Britain between 1911 and 1951. The North Sea flood of 1953 devastated the island, killing 58 islanders and leading to the temporary evacuation of the 13,000 residents. Canvey is consequently protected by modern sea defences comprising 2 miles (3.2 km) of concrete sea walls.
Canvey Island is also notable for its relationship to the petrochemical industry. The island was the site of the first delivery in the world of liquefied natural gas by container ship and later became the subject of an influential assessment on the risks to a population living within the vicinity of petrochemical shipping and storage facilities.
