Our visit Granada travel guide documentary covers some of the top attractions including a food guide to local Moroccan cuisine and Spanish food, top sightseeing tourist attractions and the city by day including visiting cathedrals, tea houses, the old town, quirky neighborhoods, Alhambra and museums in Granada, Andalucia. We also cover off-the-beaten-path outdoor activities you won't find in a typical Granada tourism brochure, Granada itinerary or Granada, Spain city tour also known as Granada España.

10 Things to do in Granada, Spain Travel Guide Video Transcript:

Wrapping up our travels in Spain, our last city to visit was Granada. Set in Andalusia at the foot of the snow capped Sierra Nevada, this is a place where Moorish influence is palpable. From hilltop fortresses to Moroccan markets, and tranquil gardens to quaint teahouses, in this travel guide we’re going to show you some of the things you can do in Granada:

This Cathedral was as grand as you’d expect. The stark white interiors were a bit of a contrast to the ornate churches we had seen in other cities, but that just made your eyes travel towards a glowing, golden altar.

The Moroccan souk turned out to be one of our favourite spots in the city. The street was packed with tiny shops standing shoulder to shoulder, all filled with leather handbags, glass lamps, wool slippers, colourful scarves and pashminas and souvenirs.

We continued our way up the hill into Albayzín. This is one of the oldest centres of Muslim culture in Granada. The neighbourhood is a maze of narrow cobbled streets, white-houses with tiled roofs, and small courtyards sprinkled in between.

We made time to stop at one of the teterías, or teahouses. This was the perfect place to rest on a cold winter day and enjoy some afternoon treats.

You can find numerous Moroccan restaurants in this part of the city for food. One place we ate at on more than once occasion was Al-Faguara. They offered set menus for lunch featuring hummus, falafel, couscous, tajine, and of course, lots of baklava.

Let’s take a moment to talk about Granada’s main tourist attraction: the Alhambra!

The Alhambra is a massive complex of palaces, gardens and fortresses that once formed the citadel of the Nasrid Kingdom of Granada, which was the last Muslim dynasty to rule along the Iberian Peninsula from the years 1230 to 1492.

This is the one attraction you can’t miss when you visit Granada, and you’ll want to book your tickets well in advance as they can sell out during high season.

We spent half a day touring the grounds during which time we visited the Nasrid Palaces, the Palace of Charles the Fifth, the Alcazaba, and the Generalife.

We decided to find a cafe where we could indulge in a delicious Spanish breakfast.

Another spot we explored in Granada is Carrerra del Darro, a small lane that runs along the Darro River at the base of the Alhambra. This street is lined with arched-stone bridges and historic buildings.

We’ll leave you with a few scenes of Granada at night and one last glimpse of the Alhambra lit up against the evening sky.

We hope you enjoyed this video and that you got ideas of things do in Granada on your own visit.

This is part of our Travel in Spain video series showcasing Spanish food, Spanish culture and Spanish cuisine.

Camino de Santiago Portugues 2019 Day 10 Oct 22 Pontevedra to Caldas de Reis

Arguably, day 10 was our best day on the Camino. The weather was perfect, the walking was excellent, the scenery was spectacular and we felt good. Our 15 mile walk was filled with familiar faces and we met some fellow Mainers we'd been hearing about. Our Albergue Agarino was exquisite and our meal at Sagasta 27 was one of the best on our trip. AND.......we soaked our Camino-weary feet in the healing thermal waters for which the town is named. Our plan now is three days to Santiago. Hard to believe we're so close to our goal and to the end of our trip.

Day 10: Portela to Caldas de Reis

Greetings, fellow adventurers! Day 10 of our Camino Portuguese in 2023 takes us from the tranquil village of Portela to the charming town of Caldas de Reis. This leg of our pilgrimage is a soul-soothing experience through the beautiful Galician countryside.

Morning in Portela

Our day begins with the gentle embrace of Portela's serene surroundings. The morning sun casts a golden glow over the landscape, and the rustling leaves of age-old trees welcome us to a new day on the Camino.

Into the Galician Heartland

Leaving Portela, we venture further into the heart of Galicia, known for its lush greenery, rolling hills, and an abundance of natural springs. The Camino Portuguese has a way of immersing you in the authentic charm of the region, and Day 10 is no exception.

A Walk to Remember

The Camino offers pilgrims a unique combination of solitude and camaraderie. As we walk, we meet fellow travelers from all corners of the world, each with their own stories, reasons for walking, and hopes for the journey. These encounters make the Camino a walk to remember, filled with moments of connection, inspiration, and shared experiences.

A Pause for Reflection

One of the Camino's gifts is the space it provides for introspection. As we tread the ancient paths and absorb the breathtaking landscapes, we have the opportunity to reflect on our own journeys. The pilgrimage often serves as a metaphor for life, where we face ups and downs, push our physical and emotional boundaries, and find the strength to keep moving forward.

The Healing Power of Nature

Amidst the natural beauty of Galicia, we are reminded of the healing power of nature. The soothing rustle of leaves, the scent of wildflowers, and the gentle babble of streams create a harmonious environment that eases the mind and nourishes the soul.

Calming Waters of Caldas de Reis

As we approach Caldas de Reis, the sight of its famous thermal springs and fountains promises a calming and rejuvenating experience. After a day of walking and contemplation, these thermal waters provide a perfect opportunity to unwind and relax.

Conclusion

Day 10 of our Camino Portuguese has been a serene journey through the Galician countryside. It's a day of reflection, shared experiences, and the soothing embrace of nature. As we reach Caldas de Reis, we look forward to experiencing the town's healing thermal springs and finding renewal in the heart of Galicia.

Stay tuned for the next chapter of our Camino adventure, and don't forget to like, subscribe, and hit the notification bell to join us on this remarkable journey. Buen Camino!

You HAVE To Do This Once In Your Life! Walking el Camino de Santiago (Day 10)

CAMINO DE SANTIAGO | Day 10 walking the Camino Portuguese and we leave the town of Pontevedra to walk 23km to Caldas de Reis. Leaving the town of Pontevedra we realised that the Old Town is beautiful and where we would have liked to have stayed overnight. The majority of the walk was quite picturesque through woodland and by streams before arriving into the charming town of Calais de Reis, where we stayed in a fantastic, private albergue.
