I start off buying a sombrero from a couple that have never left Trinidad and explain their difficulties in buying materials for their business. I then head to the local store to show the limited stock they have and how it's impossible for locals to buy anything because the stores don't accept the national currency. Ridiculous I know. After drinking a Cancanchara we get a bicycle taxi to the housing projects where tourists don't go to show a different side to Trinidad. We ascend a roof through a tiny hole and get shown photos of La Trova when the island was a popular tourist destination.

Cuba day4: Trinidad to Topes de Collantes
After leaving Trinidad, we transferred to an old Russian military truck for the drive up to the Topes de Collantes Park in the Escambray Mountains. We did an 8km trek to Hacienda Gallega, and after lunch did a further 5km circular walk to the Salto de Rocio waterfall and swam in the river. We spent the night in tents.

Después de 5 años vuelvo a Sancti Spíritus; una ciudad detenida en el tiempo. Es una ciudad de Cuba ubicada en la zona central de la isla, y capital de la provincia del mismo nombre. El gentilicio que corresponde a sus habitantes es «espirituanas»/«espirituanos»; y también «yayaberas»/«yayaberos», por el río Yayabo, el cual cruza el interior de la ciudad. Sancti Spíritus es el caso genitivo del latín Sanctus Spiritus (Espíritu Santo).
Fue fundada el 4 de junio de 1514 por Diego Velázquez de Cuéllar a orillas del río Tuinucú en la actualmente llamada localidad de Pueblo Viejo ( siendo la cuarta Villa fundada de Cuba ) a unos 8 kilómetros de su ubicación presente, y en 1522 fue trasladada hacia su sede actual a orillas del Río Yayabo.
La ciudad conserva un centro histórico con edificaciones de los siglos XVIII y XIX, entre los que se destaca la Parroquial Mayor, construida en 1680 y el Puente sobre el Río Yayabo, único en Cuba proveniente de la época colonial, declarado Monumento Nacional. Se destacan los museos de Arte Colonial, Provincial de Historia, el de Historia Natural y La Casa de La Guayabera.

Visiting a self-sufficient Cuban farm outside of Havana Cuba - Finca Vista Hermosa (SE01/EP01)
In this episode we show you what you can do with a Cuban SIM card and the 'La Nave' (Cuban 'Uber') mobile application in Cuba.
We used La Nave to visit a self-sufficient farm in Guanabacoa Cuba which is 45min-1hr outside #Havana #Cuba called Finca Vista Hermosa.
Finca Vista Hermosa has an onsite restaurant with some of the freshest food you will find on the island. And you can go horseback riding with a #genuine #cuban #guajira.
We walked all over this self-sufficient farm and discovered how they not only grow their own crops and raise their own animals in Cuba, but also how they make their own gas and generate their own electricity.
This is the type of thing that no other YouTubers will show you. Simply because they turn up in Havana for a couple of days, walk around the old town #havana or #habanavieja and then leave. They never see the #realcuba and simply can't show it too you.

Valle de los Ingenios is a valley in Cuba. Close to Trinidad, the valley was named after the sugar factories (Ingenios), of which dozens settled in this valley around 1800. From the surrounding hills of the Sierra del Escambray (or the Sierra of Trinidad), especially from a number of vantage points (miradors), one overlooks a tapestry of countless shades of green, sugar cane fields and tobacco plantations, as far as the eye can see. The remaining factories, especially the Iznaga mill, give an accurate picture of what it was like in the middle of the 18th century. The latter in particular still has an authentic railway system and a 45-meter high bell tower, which dictated the law to hundreds of slaves. Some parts of this video where filmed from this tower.
The Trinidad and the Valley de los Ingenios has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988.

This is a mini-series about bicycle touring in the western region of Cuba. In the span of 7 days, we pedaled from Havana to Viñales, and back to the capitol city, about 350 miles. My friends Dana and Dominic joined the adventure, and together, we leisurely cruised through the beautiful Cuban countryside. In this episode, we ride the mountainous terrain from San Diego de Los Baños to Guanajay.
