The Wild Coast Eastern Cape South Africa

A Wild Coast Road Trip in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. A 2000 km round trip over 7 nights, staying at the Storm's River Mouth Rest Camp in the Tsitsikamma section of the Garden Route National Park for our first night. What an awesome place, with log cabins and camp sites right on the ocean, and a must do is a hike to the pedestrian suspension bridge over the mouth of the Storm's River itself.

Then it was onto the Wild Coast, although we spent one night along the way at Port Alfred. Morgan Bay is about 100km past East London and is very close to the mouth of the Kei River, the start of the Wild Cost proper. A really pleasant town with friendly people, awesome views and a spectacular hike along the cliffs on the edge of the village.

A short ferry ride across the Kei River and we were in the are previously known as the Transkei, rural South Africa where cows have right of way and life is synched to a much slower pace. The road the Coffee Bay ranges from excellent on the N2 national route, to pretty awful once you get off the main roads. Loads of potholes, unmarked speed humps and an assortment of domestic animals wandering around.

Coffee Bay itself is a strange place, there are no facilities as such, no shops other than spaza shops, some basic back packers and pizza joints, but we managed to find a decent guesthouse which was awesome. The village is spoilt by the abundance of rubbish lining the streets, and even beaches, locals told us that the local municipality has long since ceased to function. Which is a pity, because it has so much potential.

The Hole in The Wall is a must visit, we were told that the road was terrible and only passable in a 4x4. Which is incorrect, there is maintenance on the go and it can be done in a normal car. The informal guides can be a problem, I found that a firm but friendly approach was the way to go. It's a spectacular natural wonder, I highly recommend it.

NB! I've Re-published this video, the soundtrack wasn't right for the content on the earlier version; same video here, different soundtrack, I do hope you enjoy it.

map of South Africa

South Africa, officially the Republic of South Africa (RSA), is the southernmost country in Africa. With over 60 million people, the country is the world's 23rd-most populous nation and covers an area of 1,221,037 square kilometres (471,445 square miles). South Africa has three capital cities: executive Pretoria, judicial Bloemfontein and legislative Cape Town. The largest city is Johannesburg. About 80% of South Africans are of Black African ancestry, divided among a variety of ethnic groups speaking different African languages. The remaining population consists of Africa's largest communities of European (White South Africans), Asian (Indian South Africans and Chinese South Africans), and Multiracial (Coloured South Africans) ancestry.

The RSA is bounded to the south by 2,798 kilometres (1,739 mi) of coastline of Southern Africa stretching along the South Atlantic and Indian Oceans; to the north by the neighbouring countries of Namibia, Botswana, and Zimbabwe; and to the east and northeast by Mozambique and Eswatini (former Swaziland); and it surrounds the enclaved country of Lesotho.[18] It is the southernmost country on the mainland of the Old World, and the most populous country located entirely south of the equator. South Africa is a biodiversity hotspot, with a diversity of unique biomes and plant and animal life.

South Africa is a multiethnic society encompassing a wide variety of cultures, languages, and religions. Its pluralistic makeup is reflected in the constitution's recognition of 11 official languages, the fourth-highest number in the world. According to the 2011 census, the two most spoken first languages are Zulu (22.7%) and Xhosa (16.0%). The two next ones are of European origin: Afrikaans (13.5%) developed from Dutch and serves as the first language of most Coloured and White South Africans; English (9.6%) reflects the legacy of British colonialism, and is commonly used in public and commercial life. The country is one of the few in Africa never to have had a coup d'état, and regular elections have been held for almost a century. However, the vast majority of black South Africans were not enfranchised until 1994.

During the 20th century, the black majority sought to claim more rights from the dominant white minority, which played a large role in the country's recent history and politics. The National Party imposed apartheid in 1948, institutionalising previous racial segregation. After a long and sometimes violent struggle by the African National Congress (ANC) and other anti-apartheid activists both inside and outside the country, the repeal of discriminatory laws began in the mid-1980s. Since 1994, all ethnic and linguistic groups have held political representation in the country's liberal democracy, which comprises a parliamentary republic and nine provinces. South Africa is often referred to as the rainbow nation to describe the country's multicultural diversity, especially in the wake of apartheid.

South Africa is an upper-middle power in international affairs; it maintains significant regional influence and is a member of both the Commonwealth of Nations and G20. It is a developing country, ranking 114th on the Human Development Index. It has been classified by the World Bank as a newly industrialised country, with the second-largest economy in Africa, and the 35th-largest in the world.] South Africa also has the most UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Africa. Since the end of apartheid, government accountability and quality of life have substantially improved in South Africa.] However, crime, poverty and inequality remain widespread, with about a quarter of the population unemployed and living on less than US$1.25 a day. South Africa is in southernmost Africa, with a coastline that stretches more than 2,500 km (1,553 mi) and along two oceans (the South Atlantic and the Indian). At 1,219,912 km2 (471,011 sq mi),[86] South Africa is the 24th-largest country in the world.[87] It is about the same size as Colombia, twice the size of France, three times as big as Japan, four times the size of Italy and five times the size of the United Kingdom.[88]

Mafadi in the Drakensberg at 3,450 m (11,320 ft) is the highest peak in South Africa. Excluding the Prince Edward Islands, the country lies between latitudes 22° and 35°S, and longitudes 16° and 33°E.

The interior of South Africa consists of a large, in most places almost flat, plateau with an altitude of between 1,000 m (3,300 ft) and 2,100 m (6,900 ft), highest in the east and sloping gently downwards towards the west and north, and slightly lso to the south and south-west.[89] This plateau is surrounded by the Great Escarpment[90] whose eastern, and highest, stretch is known as the Drakensberg.[ mapa de Sudafrica

THE WILD COAST | Transkei, South Africa

I escaped to the Wild Coast with my mates Naude and Gustav. We decided to road trip the beautiful garden route coastline and spend some time in the Transkei. It felt amazing to explore an area within South Africa I’d never been before and of course I had to take my camera with to remind myself how to use it again haha. We had our mate Ozzy’s Land Rover Defender to get us to some incredible locations by car, we hiked the coast lines and went up the Mthatha river by boat (probably my favourite part of the trip) while camping and staying at backpackers along the way. It was a road trip to remember and I hope this video can show just a hint of what the experience was like.

Top 10 Luxury Trains

Hi everyone!

Here we come with a brand new video in which we are going to discuss the Top 5 luxury trains. Before the start of video kindly subscribe our channel for new and interesting updates. Traveling on a luxury train will make the experience even more special if you want to see some of the most fascinating places in the world from a distinctive perspective. These trains come equipped with all the amenities you could need, delicious food and drinks, excellent guides and staff, and a wide range of fun activities.

These extraordinary trains guarantee one-of-a-kind adventures that will far exceed your expectations, whether they take place in the grandeur of Siberia or the Australian outback, the beauty of an African safari, or one of India's enchanted palaces. The top 10 most opulent trains in the world right now are listed below.

Number 10: Australia and the Indian Pacific.

One of the few transcontinental trains in the world, this famous passenger rail service travels from Sydney, on the Pacific Ocean, all the way to Perth, on the Indian Ocean, crossing an astonishing 4,352 kilometers. The Indian Pacific train has been operating continuously since its initial trip in 1970, traveling 478 kilometers of the longest stretch of dead-straight track in the world.

Number 9. India's Palace on Wheels.

After undergoing considerable renovation, this well-known Indian train service was reopened in 2009 with new furnishings, a slightly modified route, and an elegant dining experience. The railway in front of you has 23 exquisite coaches that can hold up to 104 passengers, each of which is named after a former Rajput state. Four of the cabins have opulent amenities, including Wi-Fi.

Number 8. South Africa's Blue Train.

The Blue Train is, well, blue, as you can see from this picture. It travels 1,600 km between Cape Town and Pretoria, two of South Africa's most significant cities. It is also one of the world's most opulent trains, offering butler service, two charming lounge cars (one for smokers and the other for non-smokers), an observation car, as well as fully carpeted soundproof compartments with your own en-suite.

Number 6. The Canadian Rocky Mountaineer.

The trains only run during the day so that the passengers may see whatever they want. The cost varies depending on the route, but it is often around $1,600 each night, with a maximum trip length of 12 days.

Number 5. South East Asia's Eastern & Oriental Express.

This exquisite train, run by Belmond Ltd., a name that is synonymous with elegance and perfection, travels via Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand on its four-day, three-night voyage. From Singapore's Woodlands to Hua Lamphon in Bangkok, the Eastern & Oriental Express travels by way of Kuala Lumpur, Butterworth, and Kanchanaburi.

Number 4. Europe, Venice Simplon Orient Express.

This exclusive luxury train, which exudes a timeless elegance, frequently travels between London and Venice, but it also occasionally connects some of Europe's most significant cities.

Number 3. Scotland's Royal Scotsman.

The Royal Scotsman is, to put it mildly, a beautiful train. This incredible train will take you on an exciting journey through the Highlands, allowing you to see some of Scotland's most significant monuments along the way, incomparable style, and five-star luxury. The train is a small space that could only accommodate 36 passengers. The train has 10 amazing cars, including two dining cars, five state cars, one crew car, a lovely observation car, and even a stunning SPA vehicle. It is also operated by Belmond, which should come as no surprise.

Number 2. The Russian Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express.

Get ready for a journey through the vastness of Siberia that will last a lifetime. You can take the epic 15-day Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express tour, which spans two continents and seven time zones, for the world's best train ride. The renowned Trans-Siberian railway connects Moscow in the west with Vladivostok in the east by crossing the Urals like a steel ribbon across the enigmatic country of Russia.

Number 1. India's Maharajas' Express.

India used to be the land of maharajas, a fantastical world of kingdoms and monarchs, where civilizations thrived and evolved side by side. For this reason, we believe there is no better name for this opulent train. The Maharajas' Express, which operates between October and April and covers more than 12 fantastic locations around North-West and Central India, was specifically created to give you a look into this rich legacy and culture of India.
