PNG work visit
Major road from Bulolo to Lae in Morobe region of PNG, 90klm trek that took 6 hours. Was there for work. Beautiful rugged mountains and jungle. Was good to see non-touristic parts of this country. Go there every couple of months for work.
Tufi - Papua New Guinea

Considering FIFO life in PNG? It's a great country and I met some great people, but their infrastructure takes a little getting used to. Standby to standby.
These clips were shot when I was in PNG late 2011. The Air PNG Dash 8 Fleet had been grounded due to a tragic air crash which resulted in 28 lost souls. Accordingly, we took the bus from Bulolo to Lae, where the local airport was most definitely not ready for us as all the shops bar one were closed. The one that was open had 1 pie. When my colleague tried to buy it, the shop attendant assured us, that we didn't want to eat it.
We took his word for it....
Four-lane Lae-Nadzab Road
The four-lane Lae-Nadzab section of the Highlands Highway at Bubia outside Lae on Saturday, April 30, 2022.
The drone flies from Bubia (10-Mile) down to 11-Mile, tracks up to Bulolo Junction (9-Mile), and heads back to Bubia.
Road works have gone to as far as Yalu Bridge with only the final stretch to Nadzab Airport Turnoff to be completed.
The Marape Government has paid for completion of work from 9-Mile to Yalu Bridge, and from Yalu Bridge to Nadzab.

PNG produces some of the best cocoa in the world
Papua New Guinea cocoa has some of the finest-flavors in the world, according to PNG Cocoa Board CEO Boto Gaupu.
He said this at the launching of the PNG Cocoa of Excellence Show in Port Moresby on Thursday night (September 9th 2021).
The three day-event will be held in Kundiawa, Chimbu, from October 7-9 and will showcase the best cocoa from PNG including from the new frontier of Karamui.
“PNG cocoa is one of the finest-flavored cocoa on the world market,” Gaupu told a fullhouse and appreciative audience at the launching dinner.
“Ghana and Ivory Coast may have the volume, but we have the quality, which they use to blend their cocoa.”

Famous Snake Man
The famous snake man in Morobe Province, and PNG, is Pathsy Saku from Widuru in the Labuta Rural LLG of Nawaeb district. He's a threatre dancer who used to roam around the country with a dancing troupe. His interest with snakes started in 1988 after researching a 100-year-old story that his ancestors charmed a python. The python was believed to be a messenger.
He can handle any species of snake and is fond of pushing their heads into his mouth, a feat he's proud of. All his family members can charm snakes, including his young son, who is seen in this video.
