Merry Christmas & Happy New Year guys!! We hope you've all had a fantastic year and are looking forward to 2022!
We finished off 2021 in style where we swapped Van Life for Villa Life with our wonderful travel companions @johnmandy for a whole 12 days! We decided to treat ourselves and give van life Turkey a bit of a break over the festive period so we could all recharge, relax and live a bit more of a luxury life! It turned out that we ate, drank and were merry a lot more than we planned! This doesn't mean van life is over though as we'll be back in our beloved Dee Dee come the new year!
In this video we show you how we spent Christmas day, the feast we had and the fun we had using all the kitchen space we don't usually have in our tiny home on wheels. Then we take you on what has to be one of the most beautiful boat tours of Dalyan we've ever seen....
We head to Turtle Beach (also known as Itzuzu beach) where the Loggerhead turtles lay their eggs each year and BOY is it an amazingly beautiful place! As it is December when we visit Turtle Beach there is literally no one there, not even the turtles BUT we do get to experience the beauty and feeling of why the turtles choose this wonderful place as their nesting grounds.
Our next stop sees us visit the ancient ruin city of Kaunos, which dates back to 10,000 BC!!! The quality of these ruins is phenomenal and a place we felt in awe of! The theatre, with a capacity of over 5,000 was a spectacle to behold, slowly being taken back by nature and the towering olive trees. Plus, for all you animal lovers out there, we get to say hello to two extremely friendly goats!
We end this video with a wonderful meal out on one of the many restaurants on the Dalyan river where we celebrate with John & Mandy for reaching a whopping 40k subscribers on YouTube - what an amazing achievement guys! We're so happy for you!

We’re Marianne & Chris, a happily married couple from the UK. Marianne is a living kidney donor to her best friend, and realising that life was for living and never really knowing what’s round the corner - we decided to fulfil our dream of travelling full time.

Feeling like we needed a challenge, we planned the ultimate van life adventure! In Jan 2020 set off to drive around the World from UK to UK. But after arriving in Turkey, covid caught up with us and closed the borders, so we had a wonderful 18 months exploring this special country. Realising we were not going to be able to head further East, we decided to do a handbrake turn and go the other way and shipped our van to the USA.

Walking The Streets of Diyarbakir ???????? Kind Kurdish People | Solo Travel | Turkey Travel Vlog (Ep. 18)
In today's Turkey Travel vlog, I visit a place called Diyarbakir. I came from a different city and the bus dropped me off far from the castle.
While waiting at the bus stop to find a new bus, this man told me that he was going to the same location as me and that he would take me there. He ended up paying for my ticket and refused to let me pay. Then he helped me find a cheap hotel. And after that, he said that he wanted to show me around the castle. It turned out to be an awesome adventure!
I'm a little bit frustrated because during this whole process, I accidentally recorded a time-lapse of our interaction, rather than record a normal video. So our entire conversation of one hour is lost forever. Hopefully that doesn't happen again!
The temperature was really hot on this particular day. I stopped at many locations to drink local and freshly squeezed lemonade.
One of the places I stopped was Hasan Pasha Inn. This is a pretty cool cafe area. The bricks and architecture are rather appealing to the eyes.
The more I travel East in Turkey, the more I fall in love with it. I keep meeting so many friendly and kind Kurdish people in this area. The next time I return to Turkey, I will probably spend my entire trip in the southeastern region.

Trying Turkish Alcohol Raki. Raki is the most popular alcoholic drink in Turkey and we can’t believe we haven’t tried it yet! So, today’s Turkish food tour is a little different, since we’ll be tasting Raki for the first time.

When in Turkey, you must try the anise flavoured Turkish alcohol, raki! After being in Turkey for well over a month, we finally tasted raki for the first time. Being the national drink of Turkey, it’s a special alcohol that’s drank amongst family and friends, and has quite the culture around drinking it. It is a must try for any Turkish food tour, even though it’s not ‘technically’ food.
Raki can be fairly expensive at restaurants, however, so being frugal and all, we decided to try the Turkish alcohol Raki our own way, by tasting raki for the first time at our own, home-made, raki table!

WE DROVE 5,000 MILES FOR THIS! (Van Life Mardin - Turkey)
Mardin, the city of stunning streets and breathtaking beauty! This week we take you on a journey up Mount Nemrut and around the streets of Mardin!
We LOVED making this episode, the contrast of the two places and the joy we had in walking around the backstreets and finding hidden gems around every corner is a first for our Turkey trip!
Mount Nemrut is a tomb for a 1st Century king who decided to place his tomb on the highest mountain in the area and surround himself with 9m tall statues of gods, eagles and lions - sounds like he has a bit of an ego to us!!!
The site is so high up that snow still lies on the ground and the wind has a strong bite to it! Even with this we still fell in love with this magical place and the sunset wasn't half bad either!!
Mardin has been a place on our bucket list ever since we first thought about coming to Turkey! The views, the streets, the food and the coffee were all out of this world and we are so happy we got to explore and bring you along on this beautiful experience. We hope you agree that it is something totally unique and well worth the 5,000 mile trip!
