Holiday 2021!
It took some time for obvious reasons before we had decided where we wanted to spend our holiday in the year of 2021.
Northern Spain had been on our wishlist for some time and with cojona still reaching the headlines, we choose to cross some borders by car avoiding the hussle and bussle. The Costa Verde here we come.
In this 4th. and last video of our holiday to northern Spain we drove back towards Holland by taking the inland route. In Leon we enjoyed the Castillian kitchen and Burgos we visited only short before spontaneously arriving in Basques capital Vitoria Gasteiz. Another highlight on our way back was climbing the highest wandering dunes of Europe...Dune du Pilat.
Unfortunately this holiday came to an end in Belgiums Lokeren and short peddle tour in Hollands Biesbosch.

The city of Santa Fe, Granada was founded by the Catholic Monarchs in 1491.
It was originally a military camp, which has left hardly any remains. It was of quadrangular shape and consisted of towers, curtain walls, moats, parade ground and four access gates, one on each side of the castle.
This castle was a witness to the agreement between the Catholic Monarchs and Christopher Columbus.
On April 17, 1492 the signing of the Capitulations took place, which would allow Christopher Columbus to undertake the journey towards the Discovery of America. With this agreement, the Crown agreed to finance the Admiral's trip in search of a route to the Indies.
Now it is a very beautiful town to live in, both by having everything that you could need in your proximity, as well as being just 11 km away from Granada capital.

SANGÜESA A small town that hosts a big gem.
Sangüesa was founded in the year 1090, and has always been part of the route to Santiago. By the XIII century it was the border with the Kingdom of Aragon, this gave the city a strong fortification.
But the jewl of the city it is not the fortification, but the church. An incredible gem from the end of the Romanesque era.

S5 Ep 2 Motorhoming from France into Spain
Having traveled down the length of France from Dieppe in 3 days we arrived at a lovely place called Ondres. This is where the beach is long and golden and the waves come rolling in.
We took the dogs onto the beach first thing in the morning and felt very blessed to have stopped in this place to recharge our batteries and let the dogs run free before heading off to cross the Spanish border which was about 45km away.
We headed slowly south through Spain and our first overnight spot was a free aire not far from Burghos in a lovely old town called Briviesca.
We did a quick stroll around the lovely old city stopping at the Plaza Mayor and the two churches. The place was almost devoid of people and there was not much of a vibe but the buildings are gorgeous.
After a peaceful nights sleep at the free aire we continued heading south.
We had planned a stop not far from Bejar but unfortunately we did not feel particularly safe as there were some 'dodgy' looking people around and we felt unable to leave Roma for a stroll around.
So with plan B under our belts we headed further south. It was a very long day driving but we finally reached an ACSI campsite just outside of Plasencia. The sun was shining and the temperature had climbed 10 degrees from our initial earmarked spot. We were both happy bunnies.
The next day we decided to recharge our batteries and the doggies and went for a hike around the reservoir which was a short stroll from the campsite. Our hearts were lifted and the place was teaming with birdlife etc and oh so peaceful. The dogs were also in their element. It was just what was need before heading further south in the van.
