Bienvenido and welcome to Murcia! This region is sandwiched between Valencia and Andalusia, and has a ton of awesome stuff to do. So I'm going to show you my top ten favorite things to do in Murcia. Come on, let's go!

1) Beaches
With over 250km of coast, there are all kinds of amazing beaches and costal scenery, to be enjoyed year round. Thanks to 300 days of sun a year and an average temperature of 19 degrees Celcius.

2) Adventure
In the region of Murcia, there is no shortage of adventure activities. From hiking in the rugged mountains, to all along the picturesque coast………..Cycling enthusiasts, will be happy to hear there is also plenty of terrain for them to explore, too. A 150 peaks above 1000m makes it an ideal location for all types of adventure sports.

3) Gastronomy
Like the rest of Spain, Murcia is a food lovers paradise. Serving all the typical spanish dishes, as well as some locally inspired cuisine. Excellent choices for both land and sea fare, however, they are especially known for their produce

4) Vino
You have to wash down that delicious food with something, it might as well be some locally produced wines. There are three distinct wine regions, each producing several varietals worth savoring. So fill your glass and spend sometime with some good friends.

5) City life
If you are looking for something a lit bit more upbeat, head to the cities of Murcia and Cartagena, which make up the only two metropolitan areas in the province. Murcia is found inland and has a population of around half a million….while Cartagena is found along the coast with nearly a quarter million inhabitants. Both are great places to visit museums, cafes, markets, shops and just admire the architexture.

6) nature
The autonomous community of Murcia is blessed with some excellent and diverse natural settings. If you like green, head to the dense forests of Sierra Espuña, or if you want to see some crazy wind erosion go to Bolnuevo, pink salt flats and flamingos can be seen at Salinas de San Pedro, and one of my favorites is the Ricote Valley which has the look of an oasis, tucked between the desert and the mountains.

7) History & Culture
All throughout the region you will find remnants of past civilizations. Dating back more than 3000 years. This can be observed by visiting the many cathedrals and archeological sites. For a more cultural experience I recommend visiting some small towns. Ojós, Blanca, and Caravaca de la Cruz just to name a few.

8) Nautical sports (Kayaking, fishing, boating)
With all that coastline, there is plenty of adventure to be had here too. Kayaking, Swimming, fishing, scuba diving and sailing can be enjoyed all year round. So don’t forget your swimsuit.

9) Thermal Spas
One of the most leisurely activities to do in the region, is visit a thermal spa. I had the pleasure of experiencing the historic Balneario de Archena wellness facility. The minerals in the water have a therapeutic effect, making it A great place to relax and unwind, after a few days of exploring.

10) Golf
If you like to swing the clubs, the region of Murcia is one of the best locations in all of Europe. Great weather and A total of 22 golf courses are here waiting for you.

Well, that ends or top ten things to do in Murcia video. I hope it helps you out a bunch, but I've got to go because my foods getting cold. Until next time, see you later!

The Murcia Region of Spain has 250km+ of coastline (the Costa Calida), historic roman ruins in Cartagena, fantastic value tapas, an amazing wine route, and is perfect for a city break in the capital of Murcia, a road-trip, or a beach escape. Lesser known than other parts of Spain it makes for a less crowded summer getaway, while the year-round climate stays fairly mild along the coast, making it a contender for a winter break too.

The Palm Grove also constitutes the northernmost and one of the largest palm groves in the world.Today, the city of Elche contains 97 orchards composed of 70,000 date palms, concentrated in the east bank of the Vinalopó.

Considered the capital of footwear, Elche has a long tradition of shoemaking, which has turned it into the largest producer in Spain and a benchmark all around the world, so the shoe lovers will find in the city a place to indulge. In addition, shopping enthusiasts can enjoy the best companies and brands in various commercial areas of Elche, as the one located in the historical centre, its fantastic outlet route and its two large shopping centres.

Palmeral of Elche
The Palmeral of Elche, a landscape of groves of date palms, was formally laid out, with elaborate irrigation systems, at the time the Muslim city of Elche was erected, towards the end of the tenth century A.C., when much of the Iberian peninsula was Arab. The Palmeral is an oasis, a system for agrarian production in arid areas. It is also a unique example of Arab agricultural practices on the European continent. Cultivation of date palms in Elche is known at least since the Iberian times, dating around the fifth century B.C.

Huerto del Cura (Jardín Huerto del Cura)
Huerto del Cura, the jewel of Elche’s historic palm grove, the Palmeral. We invite you to stroll along the paths of the Huerto in peace, enjoying the coexistence of Mediterranean and tropical plants, in the silence of this haven in the centre of the city. Enjoy the light and its reflection in the numerous ponds where fish and birds accompany the palm trees in their daily siesta.
The Huerto del Cura Garden was declared a National Artistic Garden in 1943.
Has an area of 12,000 m2. Inside it is harmoniously housed a wide range of Mediterranean and tropical plants arranged to create an atmosphere of tranquillity and repose. The palm trees, the true protagonists of the garden, lend it its distnctive aspect.
A splendid collections of palms and cacti from all corners of the world, with many varieties which have been adapted to our climate, may also be enjoyed. In addition to the palm trees, many other Spanish Mediterranean plants, such as lemon, orange, pomegranate, carob and jujube trees are cultivated in the Huerto del Cura, alongside others from subtropical climes which have, over time, been added to from beautiful collection of plants from exotic places.

Ciudad Quesada is located approximately 8 kilometres inland from the Costa Blanca at Guardamar de la Segura.

It is only 10 minutes of the beaches of Torrevieja, but in the town itself there are many leisure activities to enjoy, such as golf, and you can sample international cuisine in the restaurants that line the town. You can also visit the salt marshes, which are a national park.

Alicante and Murcia airports are both 50 kilometres away and the nearest beach is within 10 minutes drive.

This is Torrevieja in Costa Blanca, Spain

Torrevieja is a seaside city and municipality located on the Costa Blanca in the province of Alacant, in south Valencian Country. Torrevieja lies about 50 kilometres south of the city of Alacant and had a population of 105,000 (2012). Torrevieja was originally a salt-mining and fishing village as it is located between the sea and two large salt lakes (Las Salinas), which give Torrevieja healthy microclimate.

In recent years the local economy has hugely expanded due to the tourist industry. This includes both a strong contingent of British, Irish, Germans and Scandinavians, many of whom live there all the year round, and Spanish people who have a second home in the city. By 2004, Torrevieja had the largest number of British residents of all Spanish municipalities (approx. 7,180) The high number of British expatriates has led to Torrevieja being nicknamed as 'the costa del Yorkshire' by some holidaymakers, often surprised that many British residents prefer imported cheap mass-produced bread from England such as Warburtons and Hovis.

Since 2001, the city's authorities, along with Random House's Spanish subsidiary, Plaza & Janés, award Spain's second most important annual literary award, the Premi de Novel·la Ciutat de Torrevieja, and its poetry correlative, Premi de Poesia Ciutat de Torrevieja.

Palmeral of Elche - UNESCO World Heritage Site

The UNESCO World Heritage site of the Palmeral of Elche is an enormous palm plantation area, near the city of Elche in south-eastern Spain. It's been around for thousands of years, and each of the various groups in Spain have left their mark on the area - the Romans, the Moors, the Phoenicians, and the Christians. It's a very unusual World Heritage site this one, and very beautiful as well. Enjoy!
