You’ve probably seen the picture of mysterious statues on top of a mountain but did you know that these statues are right here in Turkey? And that’s exactly where I went - over 1000km away from Istanbul - to climb the mountain where this picture was taken and to find out what else the province of Adiyaman has to offer.

➡️ What you can find in Adiyaman is not only Mount Nemrut but also ancient cities and castles.
Adiyaman is such a fascinating place because you can go back in time and visit places that are as old as human history!
✈️ Adiyaman is located in southern central Turkey and the easiest way to get there from Istanbul is by plane. A ticket was realllyyyy expensive: 700 liras for a return ticket, but I believe this is going to be a once in a lifetime experience and definitely worth the effort and money to go there.
Most people come to Adiyaman because they wanna see Mount Nemrut, but there is more than that!
????Cendere Köprüsü for example is an ancient bridge on the road to Mount Nemrut. You can stop by, have a look, have tea next to the bridge or even camp and swim here in summer.
????Another hidden gem is The ancient city of Arsemia which is right in the heart of nature. Some people say it’s even better than Mount Nemrut, so definitely don’t forget to check this out.
????The Perre ruins are very close to downtown Adiyaman and they used to be one of the big citie’s of the kings of Mesopotomia. It’s a very large area so make sure to bring enough time. There are over 200 rock tombs which are connected and it’s just mind blowing how this site must have been looked during the Roman Empire.
????Kahta Kalesi is one of the impressive castles in Adiyaman which lies on top of a mountain.
???? At the end of January temperatures are really low, it’s very cold and going up Mount Nemrut won’t be an easy game. Especially in the mountain area it’s getting extremely cold, up to -20 degrees during the night time.
Let me tell you how I felt while I was walking up to the peak:
For the first time in a very long time I felt very happy. Because when you are out there, surrounded by all this snow and nobody else around, it really gives you a special feeling.
Also I am grateful that I started this project of visiting all 81 cities of Turkey, because I am learning so much. Not only about Turkey, but also about history in general.
And it feels really good to go out, meet other people and go on little adventures from time to time.
When you climb to the top of the mountain you may get tired but when you see the view, you will feel just grateful for being alive and experiencing such amazing wonders.
There are 2 groups of these god figures. One group of them was placed to greet the sunrise and the other to greet the setting.

???????? In this episode of our South East Turkey trip we explore Sanliurfa. This is not hugely popular despite being a huge city with one of the richest and most unique cultures and history in Turkey. It is the birth place of Prophet Abraham as well as the pit stop for merchants on the Silk Road who traded in the big bazaar. We spent the day exploring the city and felt like we went back in time as the masters were continuing to build stuff by hand. This is truly a hidden gem in this part of the world and more people need to visit this place as the people were so welcoming!

One of the most iconic desserts in Turkey is baklava. And in the southeastern city of Gaziantep, a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, master chef Mehmet Akincioglu runs a traditional baklava shop that bakes hundreds of trays of this dessert every day.

My travels in Eastern Anatolia took me to the Sunken village at Halfeti .

A beautiful town that partially got submerged when the damn flooded the valley. Some of the buildings can still be seen looking down in to the waters below. We got there bu boat at 8.30 am and what a great day out on a boat. We approached Rumkale which is a fortress on the rocks over looking the waters. This part of the world is steeped in ancient history long before biblical days! The Mosque minaret stands tall out of the water and the rest of the building is of course submerged. A very picturesque location. We danced on the boat and it was not even 10 am. Awesome start to the day.
We then moved on to the center of Gaziantep which is famous for it's food so we had to sample some of it's traditional Kebabs. Super!
Then it was a wander and a walk oot and aboot the old town just mingling with shop owners and a walk down the copper street it is called were you can see the locals decorate and make their stunning designs on copper and silver. What a lovely lively place to visit. We ended up ending this day in a nice hotel in the old Town ready for our adventure the following day. Follow our adventure! Thank you for watching.

The last three months in Turkiye have been absolutely incredible, and it is with full hearts we have to leave and make our journey home for our MOT. We have a long journey back to Ireland and have realised we had to split it up into two videos. In today’s video we share our last day in Istanbul and experience getting across the Greek border and into Greece for a whirlwind trip across this very beautiful country. Experiencing vanlife around rural Turkey and up into Istanbul and then back into Europe through Greece has been an epic adventure and one we won’t forget!!

We are Philly and Keely and we live full time in our tiny home on wheels Martha. After building our DIY home in a Citroen Relay camper we spent a year living on the streets of London before quitting our jobs only to be met with lockdown. So after waiting for six months for the borders to reopen in Ireland we have finally hit the road in June 2021 and spent 90 days enjoying vanlife in Spain. Then we spent the next two months enjoying vanlife in Croatia before heading onto Serbia which stole our hearts. Now we have journeyed from there into Turkey where we are meeting lots of fellow vanlifers.

Merhabalar ben Reşat Taman, Diyarbakır doğumlu, seyahat ve fotoğrafçılık tutkusu ile yanıp tutuşan, 13 senedir fırsat buldukça hayallerinin peşinden gitmek için Dünya’yı arşınlayan ve bu hayalleri gerçekleştirirken gittiği her yerde zıplayarak imzasını koyan, 31 yaşında kısmi zamanlı bir gezginim. Kamuda yatırım uzmanı ve eğitmen olarak görev almaktayım.
13 senede 3 kıtada ve 60’a yakın ülke ve 280 civarında şehir gezdim. Hatta bazı şehirler/kasabalara ayak basan ilk Türk olduğum konusunda iddialıyım. Seyahatlerime başlarken önce bir kıtayı bitirip diğerlerine başlayacağım demiştim. Bu yüzden ilk Avrupa kıtasını İzlanda hariç tamamen bitirdim. Son zamanlarda özellikle zaman ayırma anlamında seyahatin zor olduğu Afrika ve Asya kıtalarına başladım. Son olarak benim için işin en zevkli kısmı olan zıplama muhabbetinden de bahsetmek istiyorum. Ben oldum olası kadraj karşısında durup poz vermeyi ya da selfie çekmeyi bir türlü sevemedim. Ama sonuçta gittiğimiz yerlerde bir hatıramız olmalıydı. Ben de kendime bir imza bulmaya karar verdim. Bu imza öyle bir imza olmalıydı ki benim seyahate olan aşkımı, tutkumu ve enerjimi yansıtmalıydı. Sonunda gittiğim tüm şehirlerde ve kasabalarda zıplayarak yüzlerce imzadan oluşan bir koleksiyonum oldu. Bu kanalı 11 yıllık eski ev arkadaşım, can yoldaşım ve birçok gezimde beraber yol katettiğim Veysel Levent AKKOR ile kurduk. Umarım videolarımızı izlerken keyifli bir zaman geçirirsiniz.

The World's Biggest Airport - New Istanbul Airport is fully operational from 6th April 2019. All existing flight operations from current Ataturk Airport will be moved to the new Istanbul Airport.
Let's take a quick peek inside the new Istanbul Airport. The airport took just 42 months to build and represent over 10 billion Euros of investment. Once fully complete it will have capacity for 200 million passengers annually.

Join us for a first glimpse and tour of the brand new, lavish Istanbul airport, which has now replaced Istanbul Ataturk airport as the airport in Turkey for the processing of all commercial passenger flights, leaving the Istanbul Ataturk airport processing mainly only cargo flights.
The new Istanbul airport is situated on the European side of the city in the Arnavutkoy district of Istanbul and is the third international airport to be built in Istanbul. The first stage of the airport’s construction, which has now been completed, has seen the creation of the airport’s main terminal which is now officially the world’s largest airport building under a single roof, spread over a colossal area of a mind boggling 1.4 million square meters.
The airport is expected to handle and process 90 million passengers a year to start with in its current form but there are very ambitious plans to make the airport considerably larger – at the second stage of development, there are plans to add a third independent runway to the airport and the third stage will involve adding a second passenger terminal with a capacity for 60 million more passengers a year, bringing the airport’s capacity to 150 million people per annum and adding a fourth runway.
The final stage of development will involve bringing the number of runways to six and adding satellite terminals providing an extra 50 million passengers a year capacity, bringing the airport to its maximum and fully developed capacity of 200 million passengers a year.
Completion of the airport in its entirety is expected to be finished in 2027, at a cost of 10.2 billion euros. In the end, the airport will have four terminal buildings, interconnected with specially built railway access and will be spread over 3.2 million square meters, with a 6.5 million square meter apron consisting of aeroplane parking for 500 aircraft, VIP lounges, parking for 70,000 cars and even a state palace! It really is an extremely ambitious project and will provide a world-renowned airport for Turkish airlines and other airlines to travel to and from.
In this video, we meet Stephan Schwolgin and also Imbat Boyar, customer experience manager of the airport, for additional insights in to the world’s largest airport and see the 566 check in counters and 228 passport control points, all waiting for the flood of passengers to come. The airport is truly a colossus – it would take you eighteen minutes to walk from end to end of the main terminal building.
