Tiny Tour | Gaztelugatxe Spain | The Amazing Islet 2019 Autumn
Hi guys, in this episode we visitied Gaztelugache(Euskera name: Gaztelugatxe ). it is an islet of the town Bermeo , in Basque Country (in the province of Bizkaia, Spain ). It is linked to the mainland by a bridge with two arches. On the island there is a chapel dedicated to San Juan dating from the 10th century, although some discoveries date from the 9th century. Together with another small neighboring island, that of Aquech , it forms a protected biotope , which extends from the town of Baquio to Cape Machichaco , in the Bay of Biscay . We’re here in Autunm and it’s already pretty crowded, it would be much more in Summer. All because this is one of the places HBO chose to film their show Game of Thrones. I hope you enjoy the view when climbing with us to the top of the islet.

Hiking Dragonstone: San Juan de Gaztelugatxe in Northern Spain
Dragonstone is real and it's on the Basque Coast. Take a day hike in Northern Spain to experience the ferocity of the sea, the zig-zag pathway, and the magical view.
San Juan de Gaztelugatxe dates from the 10th century. It's been rebuilt several times over the centuries. Most recently, a fire in 1978 destroyed most of the church. The current building was re-opened in 1980.
It's an easy day-trip from Bilbao. Public buses run near the trailhead. We rented a car and visited during our Iberian road trip in June 2019. Pro-tip, visit on a weekday to avoid some crowds.
After your hike, sit at the cliffside cafes and enjoy some pinxtos and a radler beer.

Here I need to apologize for not being able to reach the island, the path is getting extremely slippery when getting close to the island and the water was constantly pushed onto the path. I really wanted to reach it, but sadly I had to give up.
Lekeitio (Spanish: Lequeitio) is a town and municipality located in the province of Biscay, in the Spanish Autonomous Community of Basque Country, 53 km (33 mi) northeast from Bilbao. The municipality has 7,293 inhabitants (2005) and is one of the most important fishing ports of the Basque coast. Tourism has an important role during the summer seasons, when the town is a resort with one beach called Isunza and the nearby Carraspio beach in the town of Mendexa.

2018 September 03, Mon -- After Gaztelugatxe, we headed to Bermeo, a quaint fishing village not to be missed. This video laid out what actually transpired during our pleasant trip to Bermeo, a small fishing town that is refreshingly down to earth. Once a vibrant hub for the whaling industry, Bermeo's maritime past hasn't lost its soul, yet it continues to ignite interest to many visitors like us. The fishing port hasn't lost its charm and fire. The narrow streets and neighborhood, esp along the colorful Calle Doniene, looks just like the old days. Its history is written all over the walls as you walk and explore. There are so many sculptures, such as Enrique's The Fish Seller, spread all throughout the town to commemorate its historical living past. Our next stop took us to Santillana del Mar and Castro Urdiales.

Gaztelugatxe is an islet on the coast of Biscay belonging to the municipality of Bermeo, Basque Country (Spain). It is connected to the mainland by a man-made bridge. On top of the island stands a hermitage (San Juan de Gaztelugatxe in Spanish), dedicated to John the Baptist, that dates from the 10th century, although discoveries indicate that the date might be the 9th century. HBO filmed scenes for season 7 of its fantasy series Game of Thrones at the islet. Gaztelugatxe stood in for Dragonstone, with a digitally created castle on top of the islet.
There are so many beautiful places in Basque Country. More famous ones than Playa de Bakio, for sure. However, just arriving at this marvelous piece of the coast I was mesmerized with its gorgeous nuances of blue and green, the sand continuously being splashed by the foamy waves. I visited in October, there were just some surfers here and there and the locals enjoying the sun and the pintxos at the nearby terraces. It inspired the utmost tranquility and freedom of looking at the infinite ocean in front of me.

Gaztelugatxe is an islet on the coast of Biscay belonging to the municipality of Bermeo, Basque Country (Spain). It is connected to the mainland by a man-made bridge. On top of the island stands a hermitage (named Gaztelugatxeko Doniene in Basque; San Juan de Gaztelugatxe in Spanish), dedicated to John the Baptist, that dates from the 10th century.
