Gernika – Lumo es una ciudad con una gran carga simbólica por ser sede de las Juntas de Bizkaia, órgano de gobierno del origen medieval. También es un centro de reivindicación de la paz, como memoria de su terrible bombardeo. Los bombardeos que sufrió durante la Guerra Civil fueron inmortalizados en el genial cuadro de Pablo Picasso. Además de los atractivos que ver en Gernika es un centro de comunicación desde el que hacer excursiones a los mejores destinos de Bizkaia.

Our next stage along the Biscayan coastline takes us to the first part of the coast.

We start passing through Berango to later go to the beach area located in the municipality of Sopelana; frther on we go through the Barrika to go to the beautiful town of Plentzia and Gorliz.
We leave the coastal area of beaches behind to enter a cliff area that takes us to one of the most emblematic places in the Basque Country, San Juan de Gaztelugatxe ( -de-gaztelugatxe) a must to enjoy one of the most beautiful corners of the region.
We continue our way to the fishing and industrial town of Bermeo and to the Urdaibai Biosphere Natural Reserve ( there we visit small towns such as Mundaka and Sukarrieta until we reach Busturia.
Where we finish this stage and we encourage you to continue with us the next one that will take us through the rest of the Biscayan coast, relax and enjoy!!

Once we left the town of Bilbao behind, we drive through the right bank of the Nervión estuary to the towns of Erandio and Leioa, towns with an important maritime and transport industrial past.
Later we enter the Getxo municipality through the Las Arenas district where is located the Vizcaya Suspension Bridge ( a bridge that connects the two banks of the Nervión estuary and which will have a separate video to be able to observe it in all its splendor. We continue through the municipality of Getxo with its old palaces and stately homes as well as its marina area and the beach with the old port.
Our tour of this area ends in the town of Berango before starting our route through the rest of the Biscayan coast.

Hoy, lunes festivo en Bizkaia, he tenido que venir para adelantar trabajo y he aprovechado un ratito para despejarme un poco dando un paseo por la playa de Ereaga hasta el Puerto viejo de Algorta... os invito a que me acompañéis y descubráis un lugar muy interesante para pasar una tarde si os animáis a venir a esta zona... espero que lo disfrutéis con el paseo..

Hola mi amigos .... so after quite a lot of stress the past few weeks (see last week's video) we are on the road and heading from the north coast of Ireland down to Spain (via a pit stop to collect some VERY important documentation) ... Will we make it during these times of restricted travel ??

We are the Cookes, Nicola, and Nigel. We love to travel. In 2018 we bought and converted a VW Transporter van and spent 3 years traveling around the UK and Ireland. At the time we also travelled with our beloved cat, Guinness. She was 20. Sadly we lost Guinness in Feb of 2020 and then well the rest of the world went to pot.
After a few 3 month trips to northern Spain and France, In early 2023 we sold our property back in Ireland and hit the road full time. For the remainder of 2023 we explored Spain, Portugal, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.
2024 plans are being formed and we look forward to bringing your guys along for the ride.
This channel will primarily focus on our travels, with the odd smattering of photography and food thrown in for good measure.
