I made this video of our brief walk in Bandirma, Turkey. There isn't much of a tourist draw here so there isn't much to see. We stopped here for a couple of days on our way to Çanakkale after taking the ferry from Istanbul. This was Thursday and there is a weekend lockdown so we didn't really get out much during our stay.

Büyük önder Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’ü İstanbul’dan Samsun’a getiren Bandırma Vapuru Müzesini geziyoruz. Bandırma vapuru bağımsız Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'ne giden yolda çok önemli bir görev yaparak tarihteki yerini almıştır.19 Mayıs 1919 tarihinde Atatürk'ün Samsun'a ayak basmasında ve Büyük Kurtuluş Savaşı'nın başlamasında önemli bir rolü vardır. Biz de 19 Mayıs Gençlik ve Spor Bayramı'nın şerefine, Bandırma Vapuruna biraz daha yakından bakalım istedik.
We visit the Bandırma Ferry Museum, which brought the great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk from Istanbul to Samsun. Bandırma ferry has taken its place in history by performing a very important task on the way to the independent Republic of Turkey. Atatürk played an important role in the landing of Samsun on May 19, 1919 and the start of the Great War of Independence. In honor of the May 19 Youth and Sports Day, we wanted to take a closer look at the Bandırma Ferry.

Samsun Milli mücadelenin başladığı yer. Türkiye Karadeniz turunda Bandırma Vapuru müzesini detaylıca sizler için görüntüledik.
Bandırma Vapuru, 9. Ordu Müfettişliği görevini icra edecek olan Mustafa Kemal Paşa ve silah arkadaşlarını 19 Mayıs 1919'da Samsun'a ulaştırması ve Türk Millî Mücadelesinin Anadolu üzerinden başlatılmasında çok önemli bir görevi yerine getiren vapur olarak tarihimizde yer almıştır. Bu nedenle önemi büyüktür.

BANDIRMA VAPURU VE SAMSUN'A ÇIKIŞ
Mustafa Kemal, 18 askerle beraber 16 Mayıs 1919 tarihinde, İstanbul'dan Samsun'a doğru Bandırma vapuru ile yola çıkmıştır. Bir İngiliz gemisi tedbir amaçlı Bandırma Vapurunu izlemeye başlamış ancak Karadeniz'e açıldıktan sonra fırtınalı havada izlerini kaybetmiştir.
Mustafa Kemal, İsmail Hakkı Bey'e karaya yakın bir rota izlemesini ve düşman saldırısı halinde gemiyi en yakın sahile oturtmasını emretmiştir. Sert havada, dalgalı bir denizde yol alan gemi 18 Mayıs 1919 tarihinde öğle üzeri Sinop Limanı'na yanaşmıştır.
Üsteğmen Hikmet Bey sandal ile kıyıya çıkmış ve yolda olduklarını Samsun Tümen Komutanlığı'na telgraf ile bildirmiştir. Bandırma Vapuru, 19 Mayıs 1919'da Samsun'a varmıştır.
