Welcome to my Balikesir trip. I never had the chance to fully travel in this city before, but this time I had couples of days to enjoy Balıkesir. I had very good experiences here and I really liked the aura of the city. I especially loved Ayvalık and Cunda sides. If you haven't been before, definitely add it to your list. Enjoy!

Bazı kaynaklara göre, MÖ 9. yüzyılda yaşayan Homeros, şiirlerinde Akçay adının Stoies olarak geçtiği söyleniyor. Akçay konumu dolayısıyla tarihtede önemli bir yere sahipti. Avrupa'yı Efes'e bağlayan haç yolu üzerinde bulunuyordu. Assos ve Bergama yolu da buradan geçiyordu. Bazı kaynaklara göre burada kurulan şehirler korsan saldırılarından sonra burayı terk etmek zorunda kaldığı belirtiliyor. Osmanlı zamanında ise bölgeye yerleşen Türkmenler, Türk kültürünü Orta Asya'dan Balkanlar'dan buraya taşımışlardır.

Altınoluk, Balikesir, Turkey | Piece of heaven on earth | Vlog
Hello guys ..
In October, we wanted to go out for exploration with my father. This time, our stop was Altınoluk region and its surroundings in Balıkesir province. As you can see in the video, this is a small seaside town. Due to the fact that it is a coastal town, its population increases 5 times in the summer.
It also provides thermal tourism services during the winter months. Altınoluk is also known as the second region of the world in terms of oxygen density after the Swiss Alps. It is an area preferred by people with asthma.
During our two-day trip, we visited places such as Şahindere Canyon, Akçay and Ezine.
There are many hostels and hotels in the region. We chose the bacahan hotel. It was both close to the center and had an authentic structure.
For food, I try to choose places that are generally preferred by the local people. After a short research, we chose Mine's home cooking shop during our stay in Altinoluk.

Looking for a budget travel Paradise Holiday in Turkey?!? Look no further than Hidden Gems of Ayvalık and Cunda Adası (Island)! This quiet Aegean Coast summer beach town is much more affordable than Fethiye, Antalya, Bodrum and others and still has plenty of natural beauty to enjoy from land or by boat. So come see what it is like to travel Turkey and have a cheap Turkey summer vacation/holiday.
When visiting Ayvalık do not forget to try its famous Ayvalık Toast (toast) and then at sunset head up to şeytan sofrası (Satan's Feast) to catch an absolutely breathtaking view that can't be missed of the entire Aegean Coast. Entrance is free and parking is very cheap.
On Cunda Island, we recommend stopping in the morning at Taş Kahve (Stone Coffee House) where you can enjoy a Turkish coffee and breakfast overlooking the water. After that you can check out both the Necdet Kent library (free entrance) and Rahmi Koç müzesi (museum and 10 lira entrance), but affordable ways to spend time on Cunda.
Finally, for the summer months it is really tough to beat the affordable but absolutely fantastic boat tour (ayvalık tekne turu) with Cunda Tur (Tour) on Cunda Island. We cannot recommend them highly enough and hope you can enjoy a day out on the water with them soon! (

Close to modern Balıkesir was the Roman town of Hadrianutherae, founded, as its name commemorates, by the emperor Hadrian.[4] Hadrian came to the region in A.D. 124, as a result of a successful bear hunting he had established a city called his own name here. It is estimated that the city consisted of the castle, the homestead, the stud and a few homes. It is thought that the small town was the stadium where to be present.[5] Members of the Roman and Pre-Byzantine dynasty had used this castle as a vacation area and for hunting. During Byzantine period, the small town which had become increasingly neglected was known as Palaeokastron (Greek: Old Castle). Also, when the Turkmens came from Middle Asia to Mysia, they called it Balak Hisar because of the remains of castle, as Hisar is the Turkish word for castle.
