Kırklareli Province is a province in northwestern Turkey on the west coast of the Black Sea. The province neighbours Bulgaria to the north along a 180 kilometers (110 miles) long border. It borders the province of Edirne to the west and the province of Tekirdağ to the south and province of Istanbul to the southeast. Kırklareli is the capital city of the province. The province's and its central city's name means the land of the forties in Turkish and it may refer either to the forty Ottoman ghazis sent by the sultan Murad I to conquer the city for the Ottoman Empire in the 14th century or to the forty churches reported to be situated in the region before the Ottoman conquest, as attested by the former name of Kırklareli (Kırk Kilise in Turkish; Σαράντα Εκκλησιές). There is a memorial on a hilltop in Kırklareli city, called Kırklar Anıtı (the Memorial of the Forties in Turkish) to honor the Ottoman conquerors (For more on the name's origins, see Kırklareli). The province is bisected by the Yıldız (Istranca) mountain range. The north and northeastern parts of the province are among the least populated and under developed parts of Turkey. The districts to the south and west are more populated because the land is better suited for agriculture and industrial development. The north and eastern parts of the province are dominated by forests. Therefore, forestry is an important means of living in these areas. Fishing is done along the Black Sea coast.
Kırklareli is the capital of the province, but the Lüleburgaz is the largest city in the province.

The province of Kırklareli is an important region for viticulture and winemaking. A syrup called Hardaliye, made of grape, cherry leaves and mustard seeds, is a non-alcoholic beverage special to the region.
Kırklareli province is divided into eight districts, Babaeski, Demirköy, Kırklareli Merkez, Kofçaz, Lüleburgaz, Pehlivanköy, Pınarhisar and Vize.

BABAESKİ KIRKLARELİ İLÇESİ TANIYALIM NASIL BİR YER. TRAKYANIN ORTASINDA SARI SALTUK KAVAK AĞACI OK
Babaeski Köprüsü, Kırklareli ilinin Babaeski ilçesinde IV. Murat devrinde inşa edilen köprü. Köprünün ortasında bulunan 5 beyitlik bir kitabe bulunmaktadır. Bu kitabeden öğrenildiğine göre köprü 1633-34 tarihinde inşa edilmiştir.
Babaeski’nin tarihçesi
Babaeski’ye, Yunanlılar Bulgaros demiştir, Bulgarlar Phygon olarak adlandırmıştır, Osmanlılar ise Babay-i Atik adını vermiştir. Babaeski üzerine detaylı tarihsel araştırmalar ne yazık ki bulunmamaktadır. Ancak, 20. yüzyılda yazılan birtakım kayıtlara göre ilçe sınırları içinde Tunç Çağı’na ait olduğu bilinen çömlek kalıntıları bulunmuştur.
Tarihsel süreçte, Roma ve Bizans İmparatorluklarının hakimiyetine girmiş olan bölge, bu dönemlere ait eserleri de günümüze getirememiştir. Özellikle 6. yüzyılda Babaeski’de inşa edildiği bilinen Bizans surlarından eser kalmamıştır.
Babaeski, 14. yüzyılda ise Osmanlı Devleti tarafından fethedildikten sonra Babay-ı Atik adını almıştır. 19. yüzyıla kadar Edirne Sancağı’na bağlı olup, 19. yüzyılda Kırklareli Sancağı’na bağlanmıştır.
Babaeski’nin adı nereden geliyor?
Babaeski’nin adının ilçede bulunan kavak ağacından geldiği düşünülmektedir. Osmanlı Devleti’nin egemenliği sırasında Babaeski civarında kavaktan yapılan ok ve yaylar oldukça meşhurdu. Bu şekilde ünlenmiş ilçeye Babay-ı Atik denmiş olabileceği sanılmaktadır.
Başka bir rivayete göre ilçenin adı Saltukname’den gelmektedir. Saltukname’de bu kavak ağacından bahsedilmektedir. Saltukname’ye göre Sarı Saltuk’un Babaeski’de dikmiş olduğu kavak ağacı, on kişinin bile kucaklayamayacağı bir büyüklüktedir. Bu yüzden de ilçeye kavakların babası anlamında gelen Babaeski adı verilmiştir. Bu kavak aynı zamanda pek çok efsaneye de konu olmuştur.
Babaeski’de görülmesi gereken yerler
Babaeski’ye yolunuz düşerse görülmesi gereken yerlerin başında halkın Büyük Cami dediği Cedid Ali Paşa Cami gelmektedir. 1560 yılında Sadrazam Cedid Ali Paşa tarafından yaptırılan bu caminin mimarı da Mimar Sinan’dır. Hem Trakya hem Türkiye için çok önemli bir yapıdır.
Babaeski’de yer alan bir diğer önemli cami de Eski Cami’dir. Fatih Sultan Mehmet döneminde yaptırılan bu cami, Fatih Cami olarak da bilinmektedir. Babaeski Köprüsü ise ilçedeki bir diğer turistik değerdir. 17. yüzyılda inşa edilmiş bu köprü, Babaeski Deresi’nin üstünden geçmektedir. Yaklaşık 75 metre uzunluğundadır. Osmanlı döneminde İstanbul’a gitmekte olan yabancılarının kontrolünün yapıldığı yer olma özelliği taşır.

Overnight in Kırklareli, the Romanian part of Turkey
12. March 2021. Turkey. Kırklareli is a city in the European side of Turkey. Most of the inhabitants of the city are descendants of Turks who formerly lived in Thessaloniki until the First Balkan War of 1912. In 1923 most of the 3700 inhabitants of Notia, the only Muslim village of the Megleno-Romanians in northern Greece settled here. Most of their descendants still speak Romanian at home as their first language. We didn't find any Romanians, but I think maybe we found some Romanian influence in the form of food. Anyway, it was just a quick overnight, along the way to Bulgaria from Bursa.

After arriving in turkey successfully from Bulgaria, I had the first whole day here in Turkey. I really did not expect anything in Kirklareli, I just came here because it was halfway to istanbul. But I learnt so much about the history and facts about this small city. And I saw the muslim prayer in the mosque for the first time and I am super lucky that I got to see it. It was really interesting and I am excited to explore more of Islam World. And I made lots of cool friends today, at the cafe, on the streets, at the Japanese lesson etc... Who would expected there to be a Japanese lessons in this small Turkish city haha! It was so much fun and will return to check their improvement in Japanese haha. Now I am so glad that made a stop here. And what's going to happen next ?? You'll find out in the next video !!

Kırklareli Museum, Kırklareli | Turkish Museums
The Kırklareli Museum structure was built in 1894 as the municipality building and was even visited by Atatürk in 1930. The historic building was converted to a museum in 1994 after being restored by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. So the building itself is a living piece of history that you can explore along with the many wonderful artifacts inside. The museum has three sections: One dedicated to the wildlife of the region, one to the archaeological finds from nearby ancient cities, and the other to the ethnographic objects of the local people that lived there throughout history.
