GHANA: Kings and Kente, Beaches and Forts. From Axim to Kumasi // EPS. 15
They call Ghana „Africa for beginners“ - indeed it’s one of the most stable and versatile countries in
west africa. And it’s home to more than 100 tribes and ethnic groups. Follow me on my ride across the land of kings - and get to know some of their traditions.
Our first destination in Ghana: The fishingtown Axim. Axim is not only famous for it's fishing but as well for it's beaches. So we decided to stay a night and spoil ourselves with a stay at the hotel Lou Moon Lodge.
From Axim we went on a mission: I wanted to find a place where the traditional ghanaian Kente cloth is still made: a fabric that was and is still worn by the Ashanti king.
On the way we were heading along the coast to visit some Forts: One of them San Sebastian, that is half a museum and half the post office of the village.
On our search of Kente we had to leave the coast and head inlands torwards the city Kumasi. In Bonwire and Adanwomase we finally found a Kente factory. Join the journey and visit the weavers with me, who showed me their amazing crafts and how to produce fabrics for kings!

I still decided to use them - that's the authentic footage I have and I can't change that anymore. Remember: I just started out with filming and cutting - its a learning curve and far from perfect! 1.La Pleasure Beach.
La Pleasure Beach is popularly known as Labadi beach is Ghana’s most popular beach. Located at the western edge of Accra with some of Ghana’s finest Hotels for visitors who want to stay close to the sea. Entrance fee to those not staying in the hotels is charge. Labadi beach is also noted for hosting events and major entertainment shows on public holidays.
The beach has infrastructure and facilities that will make visitor enjoy their visit like, bathrooms, changing rooms, restaurants, bars, and many others. Free safe to visit Ghana’s most popular beach.
2.Bojo Beach.
Bojo beach is the most popular private beach in Ghana, with luxury and exotic pleasure. The private beach offers you world-class resort amenities including hotel accommodation and unrivaled service. Bojo Beach is 12 miles away from Accra and 13 miles away from the international airport. Free private parking space for visitors coming with their cars. The beach has been operating since 2013.

Fete is a small beach town located at a hillside that slopes down to the sandy beach. Fete beach is close to a fishing village called Senya Beraku. Situated only 80km from the capital Accra and 70km from Cape Coast, it is the perfect location to explore. Hammock along the shoreline provides a magnificent view of Apam, a picturesque fishing village 20 minutes away.

Although Abidjan doesn’t look that far from Ghana, the transport isn’t that easy if you don’t rent a car. But I made it, greetings from Axim, Ghana!
The coastal border is one of the borders of the two countries, I’ll go across another border later after finishing Ghana part of the trip, which could be more of a hassle, but this border already made me crazy enough. I guess I can’t really take the tropic heat that well. For the border crossing part, I’ll make another vlog later.
In this vlog, I’m talking about my first impressions on Ghana. I’ve tried African fufu dish finally! Back home, a Zimbabwe friend of mine has made it for us to try out. Interesting food.

Paradise In Ghana - Ankobra Beach Resort In Axim With The Famous Beach Swing. Bonus: Sunset Bats
By the time we arrived at Ankobra Beach Resort we've been on the road for 10 days traveling from Tamale to Ghana's North and then go south to finally arrive here in Axim ... back at the ocean. Finally! We were very much in need for some relaxation and the Ankobra Beach Resort was like staying at paradise.
Great resort, beautiful gardens and the BEACH which has an amazing beach swing hanging from one of the coconut palm trees! Plus we had some great food there as well but nothing beats the sunsets there. Also when you're there, check out the Ankobra River, which flows into the Atlantic Ocean, it's an interesting little spot! Also check out the bats at minute 3:10

Good Morning Ghana - Walking From The Ankobra Beach Resort - To Axim And Castle - Ghana Slave Trade
We wished that we had more time to explore the area in Axim and to have a few more days just to relax at the Ankobra Beach Resort:
That said, on our first and only morning in Axim we got up early and walked along the beach to get to Axim. Beautiful sandy beaches and coconut trees as far you can see.
Once we arrived in town, walked right through the center of Axim and went straight to the Axim Castle. The last slave trade castle we visited during our time in Ghana. And after visiting Cape Coast, we can tell you... skip the castle there and go to Axim or Elmina. The Cape Coast Castle is overrun with visitors and seems stressful and pleasant.
