5. Lankaran is one of the oldest cities in the Republic of Azerbaijan, the largest city in the southern region, the administrative center of Lankaran district. It is considered the pearl of the south, it is a republican subordinated city. The city of Lankaran is located on the south-western shore of the Caspian Sea, where the River Lankaranchay flows into the Caspian Sea.
Humid subtropical climate, not having a harsh winter, dry and hot summer days, rainy fall have conditioned the rich flora and fauna of this region.
The history of Lankaran is very old.
Favourable humid subtropical climate, availability of good arable land, water and sufficient labour resources of the city provides a good basis for the development of agro-processing enterprises. The first tea factory in Azerbaijan was built in Lankaran and is currently operating. The Lankaran International Airport's international terminal was opened in September 2008.

4. Mingachevir, one of our modern cities, is known as the city of light.
Mingachevir is a young industrial city created after the Second World War. It was built in connection with the construction of a hydroelectric power plant on the River Kur. It is located 323 km from Baku. It is 17 km from the Baku-Tbilisi railway. Mingachevir reservoir is located in the north-west of the district, 3 km from the city.
The climate of Mingachevir is mildly warm.
Mingachevir is the 4th largest industrial center of the republic. Along with the Azerbaijan Thermal Power Plant and HPP chain, which generate more than 60 percent of the country's electricity, there are electrical engineering, chemical and petrochemical enterprises, machine-building enterprises, light industry enterprises, food industry enterprises and other industries.
Mingachevir State University, Mingachevir Tourism College and Medical College operate in this city.

3. Sumgayit is the second largest modern city in the Republic of Azerbaijan after Baku in terms of population and industrial importance. It is located 35 km north of the capital, in the European part of the country, on the Absheron Peninsula, in the plains on the west coast of the Caspian Sea.
The River Sumgayit flows through the city. North wind is more, south wind is less observed in the area.
The Samur-Absheron canal flows from the south of the city. The canal flows into the Jeyranbatan reservoir.
The monument, located at the entrance to Sumgayit with 15 spiral stones and pigeon wings on them, is the symbol of the city.
There are many industrial enterprises in Sumgayit, which is called the city of youth.
At present, there are 49 secondary schools in the city. Sumgayit State University also operates here.

2. Nakhchivan. As the capital of the autonomous republic, Nakhchivan has become one of the important educational, scientific and cultural centers of Azerbaijan.
Nakhchivan is one of the oldest cities in Azerbaijan, the city is more than 3,500 years old.
After becoming the capital of the Atabey state of Azerbaijan, Nakhchivan became the political, economic, cultural and artistic center of Azerbaijan, the territory of the city, enriched with magnificent architectural monuments and magnificent ensembles, expanded to the River Araz.
Nakhchivan has a continental, semi-desert climate. Winters are short, cold and snowy, summers are long, dry and very hot.
Nakhchivan International Airport has been operating in the city since 2004. Railway transportation is important in the Autonomous Republic. An agreement has been signed with the Islamic Republic of Iran for the movement of passenger and freight trains in the direction of Nakhchivan-Tabriz and in the opposite direction.

At the Fluted Minaret: Live from Antalya
Helen Page is in Antalya, looking out over the Old Town, Kaleiçi, and the Yivli Minare, the famous Fluted Minaret, one of the oldest of Antalya's Seljuk monuments and an icon of the city.
So here we are in the old town of Antalya. We came this morning and started walking down to the harbour and had a look at people taking off on cruises in very nice wooden boats. And, we walked all the way round to the truncated tower and all the way around the back and now we're here past Hadrian's Gate to the clock tower.
Behind me you'll see the fluted minaret, which is the symbol of Antalya. It's kinda like their Eiffel Tower. It's really hot here, another hot day in Turkey. There are lots of flags around... and lots of people around so I'm going to get out of the way now.
At this stage a large group walks past Tony's camera, including a dog, who decided that he likes Tony and started licking his ear. In Turkey, even the dogs are friendly!

Hi, i'm Vince and I was on the road for a moment ! i hitchhiked across Europe and towards Georgia for 5 months. Nothing really planned just the desire to travel freely and of course with a big. Here is a quick summerazy of this crazy journey.
Episode 8:
On this episode i crossed Turkey. I had some amazing and difficults situations when i was hitchhiking over there. I never felt insecure and i really enjoyed the turkish hospitality. All the diversity of these landscapes are just breathtaking. Hoewever i fell from the hill very badly and i had to rest for a couple of days. So no more hike or moutains climbing. And now i'm on my way to Georgia. i'm so exicted .

Waiting to see the inside of the Blue Mosque, Listening to Prayers
At the Blue Mosque in Istanbul. OK, not much of a video really. I was sitting on the steps waiting to get into see this amazing Mosque and filmed a few seconds of what I was seeing/hearing. The Blue Mosque closes 5x a day to outsiders (that would be me) during the prayer.

Early in the morning about 5am, I leave my hostel & went to the airport to Nakhchivan region alone.
Departure from Baku at 8am & reached Nakhchivan approx 9:30am. Met Natig at Natig/Nakhchivan Travel, he was my guide for the day in Nakhchivan. It was great - thank you Natig!
Alinja Castle dated back to the 6th-8th centuries, is located at the mountain slope, rising up to the top in a stepped form. It was the strongest & biggest fortresses in the Middle Ages that time. Also it was the residence of Atabey (Atabeks) dynasty of Azerbaijan.
To reached the ruined fortress you will climb for about 2,000 steps which is at first tiring but when in the top - the view it's worth it.
