Benalmadena - The best of both worlds
Benalmadena is a municipality of the province of Malaga consisting of three main urban areas; Benalmadena Pueblo, Benalmadena Costa and Arroyo de la Miel.
The city's layout means that you have the best of both worlds: a traditional and tranquil Andalusian village, and a modern and vibrant holiday resort. The city of Malaga is about 12 km to the west with Marbella 42 km to the East. The area has grown rapidly in recent decades due to tourism and has become one of the Costa del Sol's prime locations.

Benalmadena hosts two main markets per week. One occurs on a Wednesday in the car park in Arroyo de la Miel which is located next to Paloma Park and Selwo Marina. The other happens on a Friday in the large car park located next to Tivoli world and near the main Benalmadena Train Station.
Street markets in Spain flourished in the early part of the 20th century and are now an integral part of Spanish life and culture. They represent a true melting pot of locals and visitors. Each one provides something different and unique to the local town and its people.
Both markets provide bargain hunters with an opportunity to find unique, and interesting products and stalls. Whether it is raking through the second-hand stalls to find a bargain, or looking for quality new products and bartering for a discount, these markets have something for everyone.

Benalmadena Arroyo de la Miel Spain Charming Town Summer 2022 June Update Costa del Sol | Málaga 4K
The charming town of Arroyo de la Miel is one of the three districts that make up the town of Benalmádena. Located between Benalmádena Pueblo and Benalmádena Costa, this vibrant town is full of wniding back alleys and beautiful plazas that adhere to the old village ways of life. Known as one of the most popular tourist destinations in Benalmádena, Arroyo de la Miel also has a large British expat community.
Arroyo de la Miel did not exist until the end of the 18th century, when the Italian Félix Solesio bought the farmhouse of the same name in order to create an industrial complex to manufacture paper for the Royal Factory of Macharaviaya cards.
After the bankruptcy of the paper complex at the beginning of 19th century, the land was sold in parcels among its creditors, paving the way to the current Plaza de La Tribuna. Today, only the entrance arch to the square and the recently restored La Tribuna building remain.
In the mid-19th century the arrival of investors looking for land cultivation, the constuction of railroad at the start of the 20th century, and the development of tourism from the 1960s largely contributed to the urban of growth of the zone.
Due to various factors such as epidemics, unemployment, and emigration, little by little the lands of the farmhouse were sold to workers, building their houses in the area and forming what is known as the old town of Arroyo de la Miel today.

Benalmadena Arroyo de la Miel Spain Wonderful Town Update February 2022 Costa del Sol | Málaga [4K]
The charming town of Arroyo de la Miel is one of the three districts that make up the town of Benalmádena. Located between Benalmádena Pueblo and Benalmádena Costa, this vibrant town is full of wniding back alleys and beautiful plazas that adhere to the old village ways of life. Known as one of the most popular tourist destinations in Benalmádena, Arroyo de la Miel also has a large British expat community.
Arroyo de la Miel did not exist until the end of the 18th century, when the Italian Félix Solesio bought the farmhouse of the same name in order to create an industrial complex to manufacture paper for the Royal Factory of Macharaviaya cards.
After the bankruptcy of the paper complex at the beginning of 19th century, the land was sold in parcels among its creditors, paving the way to the current Plaza de La Tribuna. Today, only the entrance arch to the square and the recently restored La Tribuna building remain.
In the mid-19th century the arrival of investors looking for land cultivation, the constuction of railroad at the start of the 20th century, and the development of tourism from the 1960s largely contributed to the urban of growth of the zone.
Due to various factors such as epidemics, unemployment, and emigration, little by little the lands of the farmhouse were sold to workers, building their houses in the area and forming what is known as the old town of Arroyo de la Miel today.

The name Arroyo de la Miel (Honey Stream) is due to the fact that many honeycombs used to exist there during the time of the Christian Reconquest, in an area that is characterized by its hills and where the torrents and streams flow.
