Granada is all about music and poetry, authentic architectural art and millennial culture. The province hugs the sky from the steep peaks of the Sierra Nevada, its monumental cities extend over the Altiplano and its white villages are scattered between valleys and slopes, which end in the cliffs and beaches of the Costa Tropical. The province of Granada, a privileged tourist destination, allows its visitors to ski in the Sierra Nevada, venture into the villages deep in the Alpujarras, travel the last frontier of Al-Andalus in the Poniente Granadino or explore the caves testifying to troglodyte life.
History :
The whole province is full of attractions for architectural and cultural tourism. The small town of Santa Fe witnessed the preparations for the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus, and Fuente Vaqueros was the birthplace of Federico García Lorca, one of the most important poets and playwrights of Spanish literature.
The Granada plateau preserves the remains of a hominid dating back to one or two million years ago. The inhabitants of Baza, an Iberian people, bequeathed to posterity a relic of great historical and cultural value: the Lady of Baza (Iberian sculpture).
Countryside :
The province of Granada is characterized by a staircase of plateaus that descend from the peaks to the Mediterranean. These high plateaus and the altitude of the land make the winters very cold. This climate has a heavy influence on vegetation, agriculture, livestock and game.
The province of Granada is divided into three well-differentiated regions: the coast, the plain of Granada and the mountain region. Each of them has particular climatic, orographic, historical and geographical characteristics, which make it unique.
Around the 5th century BC. J.-C., coins minted by the Turdules testify to the origins of the capital of this superb province. In the 8th century, the Berbers conquered these lands which would reach their peak with the Nasrids, who would bring economic, social, artistic and cultural development, and whose influence remains palpable today.

In this video I am walking through the streets of Granada city in Spain, Andalucia, on a October evening. You will see the main shopping, bar and dining streets, the famous cathedral and the beautiful Calle Caldereria Nueva. This walk ends at the spectacular viewpoint San Nicolás (Albaicin district) where you can see the Alhambra palace. Granada is undoubtedly one of the main references of Flamenco in Spain and in particular the Sacromonte one of its cradles. This gypsy neighborhood is the epicenter of what the experts call Jondura and Elf and emerges the Zambra, a flamenco dance and song party that dates back to the century XVI And in particular to the wedding rituals of the Moors of the city. Granada is located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains, at the confluence of four rivers, the Darro, the Genil, the Monachil and the Beiro. The city sits at an average elevation of 738 m above sea level, yet is only one hour by car from the Mediterranean coast, the Costa Tropical. The Alhambra, an ancient Nasrid citadel and palace, is located in Granada. It is the most renowned building of the Islamic historical legacy with its many cultural attractions and architectural elements that make Granada a popular destination among the tourist cities of Spain. Alberga otras instituciones autonómicas de índole cultural o científica como el Centro de Documentación Musical de Andalucía, la Biblioteca de Andalucía, el Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía, el Instituto Andaluz de Geofísica y Prevención de Desastres Sísmicos, el Instituto de Academias de Andalucía, el Centro de Estudios Escénicos de Andalucía o el Consejo Escolar de Andalucía. Asimismo, es sede del Mando de Adiestramiento y Doctrina del Ejército de Tierra de las Fuerzas Armadas Españolas.
En 2017 la habitaban 232 770 personas (108 889 hombres y 125 869 mujeres), en un área metropolitana de 498 365 habitantes. Los barrios que posee son muy diferentes entre sí, en parte por la continuada inmigración acaecida hasta la década de 1990; los más importantes son el Albaicín, el Sacromonte, el Realejo, el Centro-Sagrario, el Zaidín, La Chana y la Cartuja.
La Granada musulmana fue capital del Reino Zirí de Granada, durante el siglo xi, y del Reino Nazarí de Granada entre los siglos xiii y xv. Tras la toma de la ciudad por los Reyes Católicos, se mantuvo como capital del Reino castellano de Granada, que ya era una simple jurisdicción territorial y que se mantuvo hasta 1833, momento en que se produjo una nueva división provincial en España, todavía vigente. Su escudo municipal ostenta los títulos de «Muy noble, muy leal, nombrada, grande, celebérrima y heroica ciudad de Granada».
Granada constituye un núcleo receptor de turismo, debido a sus monumentos y a la cercanía de la estación de esquí de Sierra Nevada, así como a la zona histórica conocida como La Alpujarra y también a la parte de la costa granadina conocida como Costa Tropical. De entre sus construcciones históricas, la Alhambra es una de los monumentos más importantes del país, declarado Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la Unesco en 1994, junto al jardín del Generalife y el Albaicín. Su catedral está considerada como la primera iglesia renacentista de España; anexa a la catedral se encuentra la Capilla Real, que alberga las sepulturas de los Reyes Católicos, Isabel I de Castilla y Fernando II de Aragón, así como de la reina Juana I de Castilla «la Loca» y el rey Felipe I de Castilla, «el Hermoso».
La oferta cultural de Granada incluye una veintena de museos, entre los que destaca el Parque de las Ciencias de Granada y el Museo de Bellas Artes de Granada, considerada la pinacoteca provincial más antigua del país. Además, la ciudad alberga la sede del Archivo Manuel de Falla y del Centro Federico García Lorca. Por otra parte, la ciudad pertenece desde 2014 a la Red de Ciudades Creativas de la UNESCO como Ciudad de Literatura, siendo la primera ciudad hispanohablante en obtener dicha designación.
La Universidad de Granada, de acuerdo a los datos de alumnos de 2007-2008, es la cuarta a nivel nacional por número de alumnos y es uno de los destinos más populares para los universitarios europeos del programa Erasmus. En este ámbito, la Universidad de Granada es coordinadora del proyecto ARQUS European University Alliance, siendo desde 2019 una de las once universidades españolas seleccionadas para formar parte de los supercampus europeos enmarcados en este programa. En 2011, recibió del Ministerio de Educación un anticipo de 1,8 millones de euros en concepto de remuneración del personal investigador en formación; becas, ayudas y contratos de 256 investigadores dentro del programa de formación del profesorado.
Al sur de la ciudad se encuentra el Parque Tecnológico de Ciencias de la Salud, un complejo que, además de acoger el mayor hospital de la provincia, también reúne centros de investigación, facultades universitarias e industria en el área de la investigación biomédica.
En cuanto al transporte público, el municipio cuenta con un sistema de metro ligero, el Metropolitano de Granada, que recorre la ciudad de forma transversal y la conecta con los principales municipios de su entorno, desde Albolote hasta Armilla, y con un aeropuerto internacional. Además, está conectada a través de la Alta Velocidad Española, por medio de la línea Antequera-Granada.

Churriana de la Vega it is a close city to Granada and a very peaceful one. It sits on the Genil River and crossed by several smaller streams, providing the farmers around it with water and rich soil.
The first mention of Churriana de la Vega in writing comes from the 14th century Moorish polymath and writer Ibn al-Jatib. It was also the site of some of the negotiations for the final surrender of Grenada between the representatives of Boabdil and Isabella I of Castile.
It has a population of around 14.5 thousand inhabitants and it borders the municipalities of Granada, Armilla, Alhendín, Las Gabias, Cúllar Vega y Vegas del Genil.

I made a video about Sierra Nevada above Granada, so I thought I would compile a few videos and photos from my hikes below Granada as well.
It's a nearly flat area full of olive groves, farms, and fields. What looks like a lake is Cubillas - a reservoir built in 1956.
The video also shows Santa Fe, Sierra Elvira, Albolote, Atarfe, Armilla, Peligros, Cullar Vega, La Zubia, and other places below Granada.
The tower is an old watch tower from the Nasrid kingdom called Torreon.

Transcurriendo el metro ???? por el Centro Comercia Nevada. Desde que se inauguró el metro o tranvía en Granada transcurre desde el municipio de Albolote pasando por la ciudad de Granada hasta el municipio de Armilla.
