Discover the Unexplored: 10 Breathtaking Sites in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan is a treasure chest that you can sort through endlessly. It is rich in both natural and man-made sights will surprise you with both historical buildings and cultural traditions. Of course, most of the tourists begin their acquaintance with Uzbekistan from Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara, where the tourist infrastructure is especially well developed. However, there are hundreds of natural and architectural beauties in Uzbekistan that do not often get into tourist ratings, although they deserve no less attention. In today's release, we decided to tell you about 10 mysterious and incredible places in Uzbekistan, visiting which you will be delighted. Get inspired and pack your bags!

1. Our list starts from the Urungach Jade Lakes, which are located 160 km from Tashkent, in the Ugam-Chatkal National Park. There are only 2 lakes - upper and lower. The upper lake was historically formed as a result of a rock collapse, which served as a natural dam. The lower lake is distinguished by ideal water purity due to the fact that water from the upper lake enters it underground, passing through a natural sand and gravel filter. They are named jade because of the color of the water in them: it is green, which is characteristic of jade.

2. Mountain range Khoja Gur Gur ota - which name means Father of all caves, is located not far from Boysun, in the Surkhandarya region. It is located at an altitude of 3720 meters above sea level. At the top, there is a beautiful view of a vertical wall up to 500 meters high, and on the other, of the endless expanses of Gissar with fossilized dinosaur footprints.

3. Another amazing place in the Boysun settlement is the Omonkhona healing spring, which is located at an altitude of 1217 meters above sea level. For several centuries now, a blessed stream of healing water for health and well-being has not dried up here.

4. One of the most beautiful places in Uzbekistan is the Paltau Valley, which is located 100 km from Tashkent, on the banks of the Chatkal River. Since ancient times, the mountains surrounding the Paltau Valley have been famous for an ore rich in iron content. The area is distinguished by a variety of mountainous landscapes.

5. One of the most amazing and outlandish places on the planet, full of mysteries and myths, is the Ustyurt plateau. Here everyone will find something for themselves: space landscapes, rich history, unusual and memorable fauna.

6. In the Surkhandarya region, in the Baysuntau mountain range, there is one of the most famous caves in the world – Teshik Tash, the name of which is translated as Leaky Stone. In fact, Teshik-Tash consists not of one, but of several caves, but the grotto in which the burial was discovered is popular among tourists.

7. In the vicinity of Tashkent, on the Pskem ridge, there is one of the most beautiful mountain lakes - Badak. The lake is located on the opposite bank of the Pskem river which bears the same name as the village of Pskem.

8. On the southern slopes of the Karatau ridge, 40 km from the city of Navoi, there is a unique natural-historical and tourist site - Sarmysh Gorge. Here, on the black basalt rocks polished by the winds, about 4 thousand petroglyphs (rock paintings) were discovered.

9. Arashan Lakes - one of the amazing places in Uzbekistan, which are located on the high-mountainous Angren Plateau on the border of the Tashkent and Namangan regions of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

10. At the end of our list of amazing places in Uzbekistan is Lake Aydarkul, which is located in the heart of the Kyzylkum desert. The shores of the lake stretch from the Nurata district of the Navoi region to the Farish and Mirzachul districts of the Jizzakh region.

Expedition: Ahangaran vallley, Uzbekistan

Expediton
Dunyo bo'lab channel
Akhangaran is a city in the south of the Tashkent region, located on the river of the same name and is the center of the district of the same name. It lies at the spurs of the Kuramin ridge on the Tashkent-Angren railway line. The official foundation date is 1960, when a large cement plant began to be built here. However, the settlement arose on the site of an ancient settlement of coal miners and ore miners, where Tajiks lived mainly. The toponym Akhangaran means blacksmiths from Tajik. The city (status since 1966) is an important industrial center of the region.
In the upper and middle reaches, it flows in a deep canyon along the Angren plateau. In the upper reaches, the Akhangaran gorge has a depth within the plateau of no more than 400 meters and a flat, up to 100 meters wide, floodplain, along which the river even forms bends in places. Below the Akhangaran gorge takes on the appearance of a typical canyon, the depth of which reaches 800 meters near the town of Yakkaarchasai [5]. The Akhangaran valley is characterized by the concavity of the longitudinal profile. At the confluence of the Arashan, the influx of large quantities of coarse material from the latter leads to damming of the channel and a local increase in the slope.

The culture of Turkmenistan holds an almost hypnotic allure with its raw and matchless authenticity. Influenced over time by ancient Iranian empires, Turkic nomadic tribes, the sedentary peoples of nearby Bukhara and the inhabitants of the Caspian Sea coastline, the customs formed across Turkmenistan’s fierce expanse have proudly survived the sands of time. The unique traditions of Turkmenistan can now be appreciated on a journey to this least-visited country in Central Asia, where tourists can ride a purebred Akhal-Teke horse, hear the exotic strumming of a gidjak, enjoy a traditional bakhshi performance, buy a Turkmen headscarf and stand in awe of the centuries-old carpet weaving process.

Turkmen Akhal-Teke Horses

Turkmen Akhal-Teke horses are among the rarest and most highly prized breeds in the world. Believed to be descended from the extinct Nisean horse of modern-day Iran, their name is a reference to an oasis called Akhal and a local tribe known as the Teke. These one-owner stallions have been the tireless helpers of local nomads and soldiers for centuries, yet their value goes beyond speed and agility: Graceful, thin-legged and beautiful, they look like statuettes come to life. In the 20th century, the Akhal-Teke horse gained international renown after proving its abilities in international competitions, and one even joined the stables of Queen Elizabeth II. A cultural treasure, Turkmenistan now has a national holiday dedicated to this stately steed. Tourists can visit stables near Ashgabat to take riding lessons and admire these luxurious animals.

Turkmen Carpets

Turkmen carpets are as much a symbol of Turkmenistan as tulips are of Holland and cigars are of Cuba. Historically, nomadic tribes have used carpets as prayer rugs, decorative items, wardrobes, beds, heating for yurts and padding for camels. Carpet weaving skills have been passed down from mother to daughter for generations, and in addition to following specified techniques, the women must be careful in their selection of quality materials and dyes. Turkmen carpets are defined by their strict geometric patterns and varying shades of red, yet each tribe employs an individual design and unique ornamentation that is not duplicated elsewhere. Every rug takes an astonishing amount of time and incredible skill to complete and is therefore highly prized, with some of the most historic examples on display at the Turkmen Carpet Museum in Ashgabat.

Turkmen Clothing and Jewelry

Turkmen clothing and jewelry is designed to reflect a person’s social status and region of origin, to protect from the evil eye and shield from the unforgiving climate. Even today, many people in Turkmenistan can still be seen in traditional costume, which for men includes embroidered shirts, custom shoes and sheep hats called telpek, and for women a robe and special headdress. Shades of red are especially common in Turkmenistan dress, for red is believed to have the ability to ward off evil. Jewelry is likewise valued as both an amulet and a sign of social status. It can be worn by men, women and even prized horses, and is traditionally made from silver. Turkmen jewelry often includes inserts of precious stones purported to hold magical properties and to include images of insects and animals, regarded as a link between man and nature.

Turkmen Music and Dance

The ancient roots of Turkmen music and dance is evidenced in centuries-old household items which are decorated with images of musicians and in the historic tales of skilled songwriters preserved in local folklore. Most notable among local dances is the kushtdepdi performance, endemic to the Yomut tribe of the Caspian Sea coast but now popular at national festivals around the nation. Now a UNESCO-recognized performance, kushtdepdi is carried out with precision in order to convey a special meaning. Such dances are often accompanied by traditional polyphony, ritual instruments and many types of bells. Other popular instruments today include the stringed dutar and the tuyduk, a wind instrument which is tied to shamanistic ceremonies that are reminiscent of ancient Turkmenistan religions and still performed at local celebrations.

How to get to the Arashan lakes (Uzbekistan) and what is interesting over there.

The system of Arashan lakes includes 4 lakes: Arashan, Khoja Arashan, Big and Small. All are alpine lakes, which are supplied with water from melted glaciers. All lakes are of different sizes and are at different heights. It is just beautiful over there!

Bukhara Uzbekistan Tour Ultra HD - A Tour Of The City Of Bukhara Uzbekistan - Dream Trips

Bukhara Uzbekistan tour in ultra HD Bukhara is the fifth largest city in Uzbekistan, long known as the center of knowledge and literature in the Islamic world. Bukhara has an important place in Islamic civilization. Even today there are many mosques and madrassas here but the biggest introduction of the city is Imam Bukhari. His book Sahih Bukhari does not need any introduction. You were born here and then visited many places to acquire knowledge. The city also fell victim to the barbarism of Genghis Khan, after which it joined the Chughtai Empire, the Timurid Empire, and Khan Bukhara in different periods.

The journey from Khiva, a well-known historical city in Uzbekistan and the capital of the former Khwarazm Empire, to Bukhara is about 450 km, which we covered in 7 hours by road and then left for the city after a short refreshment and belly worship. Happened Being an important site on the ancient Silk Road, Bukhara has been a hub of trade and culture for centuries. There are many historical sites and monuments here. That is why UNESCO has declared the center of Bukhara a World Heritage Site.

The city of Bukhara is now quite sprawling, but the historic buildings and monuments worth seeing are in the heart of the city. This was the original city in the old days, then the city grew over time and as needed. The main center of Bukhara city is Poi Kalyan Square, which is surrounded on 3 sides by great historical heritage. The magnificent mosque for prostrating before the true God, the magnificent madrassa for mastering the sciences and arts, and the lofty minaret for those who take full advantage of these two buildings, all these are undoubtedly impressive.

Arashan peak (3750m) and Arashan lakes - Hiking in Uzbekistan #hiking #travel #mountains

Tucked away on the Angren Plateau in Uzbekistan, the Arashan Lakes are a collection of four stunning bodies of water—Upper Arashan, Khodja Arashan, Big, and Small. Perched between 2770 and 3350 meters above sea level, reaching these lakes is an adventure in itself, involving a challenging journey through steep terrain and rocky paths from the village of Ertash.

The lakes, born of moraine origins, break free from winter's icy grip for a fleeting 2-3 months from mid-July to September. Nestled in the northwest corner of the plateau, they reveal a crystalline beauty against the backdrop of alpine meadows, colossal canyons, and ephemeral waterfalls.

Beyond their scenic allure, the Arashan Lakes cater to adventure enthusiasts. Peak Karakush, standing tall at 3864 meters, beckons mountaineers, while skiing enthusiasts find joy in descending slopes even in June. Rafting on the Ahangaran River in May and winter skiing accessed by helicopter add diverse dimensions to the lakes' appeal.

In essence, the Arashan Lakes encapsulate the raw beauty of Uzbekistan's highlands, offering a tranquil escape for nature lovers and a thrilling playground for adventure seekers. This hidden haven, with its blend of natural wonders and adrenaline-inducing activities, invites exploration and promises an unforgettable experience.
