Si quieres aprovechar al máximo tu escapada en ALMAGRO, te propongo recorrer los rincones más significativos de este pueblo de Ciudad Real (Castilla La Mancha), entre ellos el CORRAL DE COMEDIAS o la singular PLAZA MAYOR. Para mí estos son los rincones 6 rincones más bonitos o especiales. Aunque si dispones de más tiempo, te sugiero algunos más en la ciudad y alrededores para que completes tu estancia.
Te acompañaré en el recorrido con algunos datos para que pongas en contexto la historia de Almagro, sus hitos más destacados o el valor histórico-artístico de lo que vas a conocer en la ciudad.
La importancia de personajes históricos como Diego de Almagro, los banqueros más ricos del renacimiento europeo (los Fugger), los monjes caballeros de la orden de Calatrava y un amable recorrido lleno de casas blancas, calles empedradas, palacetes renacentistas y rejas de hierro forjado tras las que se esconden un sinfín de tesoros.
Almagro tiene también el corazón de candilejas y durante el mes de julio se transforma en anfitrión del Festival Internacional de Teatro Clásico. Un imprescindible para viajeros culturetas.
La ciudad ha seducido a nuestro cineasta más internacional Pedro Almodóvar, que ha envuelto a sus personajes de costumbrismo manchego en al menos dos de sus películas: “La flor de mi secreto” y “Volver”.
Gastronomía, bebidas del siglo de oro, alojamiento con encanto…la ciudad te da todos los elementos para que disfrutes de una experiencia completa.

It had been a LONG time since Yoly and I had been in Cordoba. And it’s a city that I have always loved. It’s full of mystery, history and of course incredible food! So in this video Yoly and I decided to do a tapas crawl across 5 of the top tapas bars in Cordoba, plus a few extra stops for good measure.
So where did we go?
1. Bodega Guzmán. A fantastic old bodega where they fill the glasses of Montilla Moriles to the brim (seriously) and the walls are lined with bullfighting memorabilia. This is a tertulia taurina, which means it’s a place where bullfighting aficionados get together to talk shop. And there were a few old boys there having their aperitif while we were there.
2. Taberna Salinas. A classic in Cordoba, and the best place for traditional dishes in my opinion. It’s been open about 100 years, and you can sit in the bar or the restaurant. We hit the bar, and ordered three local classics - rabo de toro (bull tail stew), salmorejo (cold tomato soup - thicker than gazpacho) and berenjenas fritas (floured and fried eggplant slices). All were fantastic.
3. Cuatromanos. Now a modern stop. Run by the couple of brothers, these guys are doing modern interpretations of classic dishes. We actually ate there for dinner that night as well. It was excellent. This is more of a restaurant than a tapas bar - so heads up there.
We next hit the famous mosque (mezquita) and also a place for Spain’s largest tortilla, Bar Santos. Does big mean delicious?
4. Taberna Góngora. Another classic joint in Cordoba. These guys are famous for their flamenquín, which is a local dish which is effectively rolls of pork which is then breaded and fried. It’s intense - but worth it. Especially when you dip it in mayo.
Next, another off-road stop. Snails! Cordoba’s snail seasons runs from about February until June and during the season stalls pop up all around the city. The caracoles come in different sizes and in different sauces - best one is the delicious cuminy and minty brother.
5. La Sastrería. Last stop was another modern joint, and we hit the bull tail stew again… this time in the form of a taco. We were seriously stuffed by now, but Yoly managed to pack it away.

The village of Almagro has a handsome main square with open-air restaurants and shops selling local handicrafts. Adjoining the square is the 18th c. church of San Agustin with a richly frescoed interior. The nearby church of San Bartolome is of a similar age, completed in 1735. Considerably older is the 16th c. monastery of Santa Catalina, which is now a Parador hotel where we stayed overnight. The video ends with several still photos taken by my wife, Pam.

SEVILLE CATHEDRAL, Santa Maria de la Sede. The BIGGEST Gothic CATHEDRAL in the WORLD!!
Seville Cathedral is the largest gothic Cathedral in the world and recognised as UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is located in the centre of the city close to other important highlights such as the Real Alcazar and Archivo de Indias. The outside features of this magnificent monument is absolutely beautiful but going inside will stunned you even more.
‘Let us build a church so beautiful and so grand that those who see it finished will think we are mad’
That's the famous legend behind Seville Cathedral. Words said by the church elders before the beginning of the construction which was lasted over a century from year 1401. Santa Maria de la Sede also known as Seville Cathedral is not your ordinary Church. This marvellous building is so extraordinary making your visit memorable. It is the burial site of important members of the church, the Spanish Kings and Queens and the famous explorer Christopher Columbus.
In this Seville cathedral walking tour you can see the combination of Gothic and Baroque architecture styles makes this monument so magnificent and is widely renowned as one of the most significant symbols of the city. But aside from it's amazing physical features, the history behind each walls will interest you more.
The cathedral of Seville has its origins with the Moors like other famous buildings in Andalucia. It was the site of the Almohad mosque but those in charge of the Catholic kingdom wanted to build the largest cathedral in the world to prove their wealth and importance to outsiders. That's how the construction of the Cathedral began. There are some parts leftover from the Moorish reign like the Giralda, the old minaret before, is now the cathedral’s bell tower.
In this Spanish Cathedral is so much to see, with a total of 15 doors and 80 chapels.
Inside you will see the Tomb of Christopher Columbus. He is in a coffin being carried by four figures which represent the kingdoms of Spain during his lifetime: Navarre, Aragon, Castile and Leon.
Another important highlights is the Great Chapel and Altarpiece. it is the largest altarpiece in the world made up of 44 reliefs from scenes of Christ which are made up in polychrome wood and copious amounts of gold.
Another important chapel is the Royal Chapel where you will find the crown on top of the Virgin's head. It has nearly 12,000 precious stones and is made of 22-karat gold.
Next is Giralda, the crown jewel of the Cathedral of Seville which will give you the best panoramic views of the city. There are no stairs climbing up to the top but a series of 35 inclined ramps which is wide and easier for visitors.
