What you will get for breakfast @ Akan Sunset Otel in Aliaga, Turkey
Breakfast at Akan Sunset Otel in Aliaga, the breakfast is poor (3/10) compared to the rest in Turkey
Although the Hotel is ok, it is extremely busy as the hotel is on the main road.
The room was spacious and nicely decorated, it was a smoking room and we asked for a non-smoking.
The hotel walls are also very thin and breakfast was really really bad.
Maybe for a quick 1 night stopover it is ok, as we did, but would not stay longer.

Akan Hotel | Aliağa | Turkey - room review
On our trip across Turkey we had a few surprises when it came to hotels, good surprises and bad surprises. Akan Hotel was a good surprise, the rooms are big and spacious and the décor stylish. Although this is a holiday/vacation type town the hotel had a business feel to it. It was inexpensive and ticked almost every box.
The room had a sofa and sitting area or lounge with a TV plus a bedroom with TV, wardrobe, desk and coffee/tea station.
The only let down perhaps was that there was no mini fridge and that it was a bit noisy (traffic). For the price though we could live with it.
One thing I have to mention that impressed us, was the fact that they catered for people with walking disabilities with a chair-lift at the stairs in lobby and outside.
Breakfast was included in the room rate and was a standard traditional Turkish breakfast. We had better breakfasts in other hotels around Turkey.
We were also surprised by the town of Aliağa. It is a smallish sea side town, but big enough for an active night life and enough restaurants and a very nice waterfront/harbor/promenade.
For a middle class hotel we give the Akan Hotel 7/10

Radisson Izmir Aliaga and local artisans
Discover Radisson Izmir Aliaga from a new perspective. For their hotel opening, the hotel worked on a social responsibility project about the lost heritage of the North Aegean, all about the traditional handmade Turkish carpets named 'Helvacı' rug. They worked with local artisans to produce beautiful local gifts to give during the opening.
Helvacı is a small village close to the Radisson Izmir Aliaga hotel and the rug's name comes from there. The rugs are made by unemployed women in Aliaga who started during the pandemic to try to earn some money. Alongside the rug, the hotel supported other local artisans including old-world parchment paper from Pergamon, only 30 minutes from the hotel and a Unesco World Heritage site. For the hotel opening, letters were hand-written on this old-world parchment paper by a local artist from the Old-Bazaar Kemaltı in Ancient Symrna. Also for the hotel opening, the rugs are given as hotel opening gifts to guests.
