Barbate is a Spanish municipality in the province of Cádiz (Andalusia). It is located at the mouth of the Barbate River, on the coast near Cape Trafalgar.
Barbate lives mainly from tourism, highlighting Zahara de los Atunes and Los Caños de Meca as important tourist centers. It has 43 hotels from 1-4 stars.
Zahara de los Atunes is a village (a local autonomous entity of Barbate) on the Costa de la Luz, right next to Barbate. The climate of Zahara is the oceanic Mediterranean of the Atlantic coast. This is characterized by having mild winters, whose temperatures are always above 10º, and temperate summers, which register average temperatures around 25º.
Zahara de los Atunes has become one of the most important places in Andalusia in terms of coastal tourism, due to its good climate, its beaches and its nightlife.
The Zahar coastlin , about 1,600 meters long, extends from Zahara to Cape Plata. The seawater in this area is characterized by being a mass of water with marked oligotrophy, high transparency, well oxygenated and with efficient mixing phenomena.

Vejer de la Frontera is a Spanish municipality located in the province of Cádiz (Andalucía). The core of the town stands on a 200-meter-high mountain, on the banks of the Barbate River and 8 kilometers from the coast.
Its walled historic center, which still preserves the castle and several significant churches, was declared a historic-artistic complex in 1976. Vejer is part of what is known as the 'Association of the Most Beautiful Towns in Spain'.
Vejer has been inhabited since the early Palaeolithic and was already fortified in the Bronze Age. Remains dating from the 7th century BC have been found from Tartessian and Roman times.
Nowadays, the population lives from agriculture (generally viticulture), from wild cattle (especially from the resurgence of the Retinta breed) and from the tourism that it usually receives in summer.

Informationen zum Naturpark:
Los Alcornocales ist ein in Andalusien (Spanien), genau nördlich der Straße von Gibraltar gelegener Naturpark, in dem die größten Korkeichenwälder der Iberischen Halbinsel wachsen, die zugleich einen der größten naturnahen Wälder im Mittelmeerraum überhaupt darstellen.
Der Naturpark hat eine Fläche von 167.767 ha und liegt größtenteils in der Provinz Cádiz sowie zu einem kleineren Teil in der Provinz Málaga.[1] Er befindet sich auf dem Gebiet der Gemeinden Alcalá de los Gazules, Algar, Algeciras, Arcos de la Frontera, Los Barrios, Benalup-Casas Viejas, Benaocaz, El Bosque, Castellar de la Frontera, Jerez de la Frontera, Jimena de la Frontera, Medina-Sidonia, Prado del Rey, San José del Valle, Tarifa, Ubrique und Cortes de la Frontera.
Geologisch gehört das Gebiet zum Campo de Gibraltar, entsprechend herrscht hier Sandstein vor. Der Naturpark bildet ein Mittelgebirge mit Höhen meist um 800 m, der höchste Gipfel ist der im Norden des Gebietes gelegene Pico del Aljibe mit 1092 m. Besonders die Berge im Süden des Gebietes bieten fantastische Aussicht auf die Straße von Gibraltar, auf die afrikanische Küste und die nordafrikanischen Gebirge. Im Naturpark liegt auch der Tajo de las Escobas, eine der Säulen des Herkules.

Localizado entre los municipios de Arcos de la Frontera, Villamartín y Bornos, del cual recibe su nombre, el embalse se establece sobre las aguas del Río Guadalete. Este lugar declarado paraje natural es un humedal de gran valor ecológico. Entre sus diversos atractivos destaca la presencia de abundantes aves, entres las que se encuentran especies protegidas. Por otro lado, los frondosos tarajales que existen en sus orillas proporcionan un magnífico enclave para la nidificación y/o el refugio de importantes colonias de ardeidas, de entre las que destacan algunas tan singulares como la espátula, la garcilla cangrejera o el martinete con su belleza inquietante. Located between the municipalities of Arcos de la Frontera, Villamartín and Bornos, from which it receives its name, the reservoir is established on the waters of the Guadalete River. This place, declared a natural site, is a wetland of great ecological value. Among its various attractions, the presence of abundant birds stands out, among which are protected species. On the other hand, the leafy tarajales that exist on its banks provide a magnificent enclave for nesting and / or shelter for important colonies of ardeidae, among which some as unique as the spoonbill, the squacco heron or the martinete with its haunting beauty. Further from the shore, the gentle slopes dotted with mastic and wild olive trees take center stage. Although it is of special interest to bird watchers, a visit to this place will not leave any visitor indifferent.
