Urfa is the city of prophets and perhaps the most interesting and historic city in Turkey’s southeastern region, It’s certain that Urfa dates back at least 3500 years.
I went to the old city, then Balıklıgöl (Sacred Fish Ponds), Hazreti Ibrahim Halilullah, the cave where the Prophet Abraham is said to be born, the Kazzaz Bazaar where you can see many traditional craftsmanship; Göbeklitepe (World's Earliest Temple, 11,000 years old), and finally up to the Urfa castle!

Population: 1.443.422 (2000)
The history of Sanlıurfa can be traced back around 9000 years and the atmosphere is one of living history, where traditional life, culture and even clothing is more akin to the Middle East with Turkish, Kurdish and Arabic all being spoken. Sanliurfa (often referred to as Urfa) is also a place of pilgrimage for many religions, containing what is thought to be the birthplace of the prophet Abraham. According to Jewish and Muslim scriptures, he was summonsed by god whilst living there.
The traditional and religious conservatism, combined with the ancient historical monuments, has also given it the name City of the Prophets and has made Urfa a unique place to visit. Away from the city, the ancient village and genuine living museum Harran with its famous bee-hive type houses, has been continuously inhabited for more than 6000 years.

Şanlıurfa is exist here way before 2000 BC, Şanlıurfa used to be under Mesopotamia or Babylon and was known by another name Urfa or Edessa in Arabic Al-Ruha. Şanlıurfa was a major Syrian culture, many people spoke Arabic rather than Turkish. Nowadays Most people here from the north of Iraq, and Syria which is also known as Kurdish. People here speak Kurdish Kurmanji and Zaza–Sorani(سۆرانی).
If you are practicing the Abrahamic faith, which is Christianity, Islam, and Judaism, then you must know the prophet Abraham the father of Ismael and Isaaq. in the Islamic world known, Prophet Ibrahim and Ismael together built the Kaba of Mecca which is in Saudi Arabia. Now you may be questioning so what is the relationship this place with Abraham?
So just to let you know as per the history and biblical information, Urfa is the birthplace of the prophet Abrahams. He was born in Mesopotamia in an area called Edessa which is the current day call as Sanliurfa where I'm standing now.
Prophet Abraham was born in URFA during 1996-BC. almost 2000 years prior to Christ. During that period the cruelest king Nimrod came to know there will be a male child who will be born and a threat to his thrones, so Nimrod didn't want to take a risk and he ordered to kill all the newborn male children, so Abraham hide here in a cave for 7 years.

Visit Harran ruins and the Syrian border city Akcakale in southern Turkey ???????????????? | EP06
Harran ruins is a major ancient city in Upper Mesopotamia whose site is in the modern village of Harran. It is famous for its traditional beehive adobe houses, constructed entirely without wood.
I hitich hiked to Akcakala, an ethnic Arab town in Şanlıurfa Province. Akçakale forms a divided city with Tell Abyad which already lies in Syria.

Göbeklitepe known history of the humans oldest pray place. and it has T columns everywhere. humans make had been T columns for pray to theese. this place is very interesting and magical. before discovered göbeklitepe there has been tree and people make wishes to that tree. according saids by people there has been unknown energy. and after a lot time has been discovering göbeklitepe on the here. it is a interesting story and woth a listen

My time in Eastern Turkey slowly approaches the end! This video is about my scenic bus ride and the beautiful village life in extreme far east of Turkey! I took a bus from Mardin and left for Ramazankent, a village just on the Turkey-Armenia border devided by the famous Aras river. The bus was slow but it was a scenic ride! Eastern Turkey is home to the Kurdish whereas it's overall less visited but still amazingly beautiful. Ramazankent is located on the foot of mount Ararat, the highest mountain of Turkey as well as the national Symbol of Armenia.

Where no tourists ever go: traveling alongside the Syrian border
Two years ago in the middle of the pandemic, I traveled across southeast Turkey, visiting places like Adana, Gaziantep, Mardin, Urfa, and other less touristy towns & cities. Spontaneously I decided to do a day visit to Harran, a town 18 km from the Syrian border known for its beehive houses.
My unplanned trip turned out to be very interesting as I got picked up at the bus station by a stranger who offered to be my guide for the day. He took me to his home - the traditional 300 yo clay made houses in the shape of beehives and dressed me up in traditional clothes.
We then took a car ride east to discover the area full of ancient caves where natives used to live, ruins and incredible landscapes. There wasn`t a single trace of tourism there, just open wilderness and it was probably one of the most unexpected and serene experiences ever. The locals we met were living in traditional stone or mud houses in the middle of nowhere, pasturing sheep and taking care of their offspring. Seemed like such a pristine and simple life.
The video ends back in Sanliurfa in a falafel place where I met the incredible owner who shared his refuge story with me. When I look back at this footage I`m so inspired by all these humble people and also myself for being so open and accepting.

The Ancient Bible City of Harran, Turkey: Once home of Abrah
The city of Harran in what is now southern Turkey is one of the world’s oldest major international transit centers. Located near the headwaters of the Euphrates River, virtually all overland traffic between Mesopotamia and the western regions of Canaan, Egypt and the Hittite Empire had to pass through Harran in ancient times. I met a Syrian refugee in Turkey | EP04
I met Mahmud from Idlib in Antakya. Syria is still being struck by the civil war and life hasn't been easy (for those who stayed as well as those who left the country). For Syrian passport holders it's almost impossible to enter another country visafree. Luckily, Mahmud has now been granted the Turkish citizenship.
We might know a Syrian refugee, but we hardly don't know anything about Syria in the west. We cannot really understand how difficult life can be for them, so I just want to share his words.

Turkey - Harran - Travel Video
Harran is south of Urfa and a few miles north of Syria. In Genesis Chapter 11, Verse 31 it says that Abraham and Lot, came from Ur and lived here for a while.You can visit the historic Beehive houses. There is also a Kale fortress dating from the 11th century.
