AKÇAABAT Trabzon - Doğu Karadeniz #11 (with Eng Sub)
Akçaabat; Trabzon iline bağlı, Karadeniz'in nadide ve şirin sahil ilçelerinin başında gelmekte. İlçenin tarihi şüphesiz Trabzon tarihi ile yakından alakalıdır. Madrid Milli Kütüphanesinde bulunan Klavion’un “Şark Seyahati” adlı eserinde: “Hava elverişli olmadığı için fındık yüklü gemi, Trabzon’un batısında 6 mil uzakta olan ‘Blâton’dan geri dönmüştü” diyerek Blâton adını anmakta ve burasının eski bir merkez olduğunu söylemekte. Bu da M.Ö. 4’üncü asırda Akçaabat’ın önemli bir yerleşim birimi olduğunu göstermekte.
Kentin bilinen en eski adı ‘Platana’ olup Yunanca ‘çınar ağacı’ anlamına gelmekte. Bıjışkyan (1817) seyahatnamesinde kentin adı hakkında şu açıklamayı yapmıştır: “Platana, altı mil uzakta Yoros Koyu’nun içinde bir kasabadır. Platana çınar ağacı demektir, çünkü eskiden bura halkı aynı ağaca tapardı. Bununla beraber, bazıları Polathane yani ‘demir fabrikası’ olarak zikrederler.”
İlçenin yüzey şekilleri bakımından genellikle dağlık. Arazi fazla engebeli ve eğimli. Dağlar kıyıya paralel olarak uzanmakta ve bu dağlar küçük dereler ve derin vadilerle birbirinden ayrılmakta. Arazinin engebeli oluşu nedeniyle “tepe” niteliğindeki büyüklü küçüklü yükseltilere her yerde rastlanılabilir. Dağların ise üzerlerinde geniş düzlükler bulunur. Bu düzlüklerin yükseklikleri ise 1800- 1900 m civarlarında. Önemli yaylalarımız arasında; Hıdırnebi, Kayabaşı, Büyük Oba, Balıklı Obası ve Işıklar Obası bulunmakta.
İlçede tipik Karadeniz iklimi görülür. Genellikle yazlar orta sıcaklıkta, kışlar ise ılık geçer. Bütün mevsimler yağışlı. Ortalama % 73,3 nem, aylık ortalama yağış m2’de 54 kg’dir. İlçe merkezinde rakım 10 metre. İklimin ılıman karakterde olması, kıyıdan başlayarak yükselen dağların, özellikle karayel rüzgarını alması, yörede gür bitki örtüsünün oluşmasına yol açmış. Yaygın ağaç türleri ladin, kayın ve yer yer sarıçamdır.
‘Akçaabat’ adının verilmesine gelince; rivayete göre ilçenin ismi üzerinde etimolojik ayrıştırma yapılarak “Akça’dan âbad olmuş yer, zengin yer” anlamında “Akçaabat” adının verildiği söylenmektedir. Kentin adının ticaretin gelişmesinden, paranın bolluğundan ve beyaz evlerinden dolayı veya eski Türkçeden kaynaklanan ‘batıdaki şehir’ anlamına geliyor.
Türkler ilçeye 12’nci yüzyıldan itibaren Selçuklu döneminde Türkmen beylerinin bölgeyi fethetmesiyle yerleşmeye başlamışlar. İlçe, Trabzon’un 1461 yılında Fatih Sultan Mehmet Han tarafından fethedilmesi ile Osmanlı İmparatorluğu topraklarına katılmış. Akçaabat, 1461 yılında Türk idaresine katılmasından 1 inci Dünya Savaşı yıllarındaki 1916 Rus işgaline kadar geçen 455 yılda herhangi bir işgale uğramamıştır. Şehrin tarihinde 1810 yılı Ramazan Ayı ayrı bir yer tutar. Bu tarihte Rus donanması Sargana mevkiine çıkarma yapmak istemiş, Akçaabat halkı 48’i kadın olmak üzere 969 kayıp vererek Akçaabat’ı savunmuş ve işgali engellemiştir.
20 Nisan 1916 yılında Rus gemileri Trabzon ve Akçaabat’ı topa tutarak yakıp yıkmışlar ve karaya asker çıkararak Akçaabat’ı işgal etmişlerdir. Çaresiz kalan halk, ülkenin batı ve iç bölgelerine göç etmek zorunda kalmıştır. İşgalden iki yıl sonra Türk ordusu Akçaabatlı milis kuvvetlerinin de yardımıyla 17 Şubat 1918’de işgalcileri kovmuştur.
İlçenin gerek coğrafi konumu gerekse de iklim yapısı sebebiyle insanlar geçimlerini çoğunlukla tarım, hayvancılık ve balıkçılıktan temin etmekte. Kırsal kesimlerde ekonomik sıkıntıların yaşanması sebebiyle çalışmak için şehir dışı ve yurt dışı göçler olmuş ve gurbetçilik kavramı da gelişmiş.
İlçenin eğitim ve kültür tarihi eskilere dayanıyor. Merkez İlkokulu 1889 yılında eğitim süresi 5 yıl olan tek İlkokul olarak açılmış. İlçede eğitim seviyesi yüksek olup okur- yazar oranı %94,5.
1991 yılından bu yana her yıl Temmuz ayında ilçede müzik ve halk oyunları festivali düzenleniyor. İlçenin folklor faaliyetleri çok eski yıllara dayanıyor. Başta Hıdırnebi Yayla Şenlikleri olmak üzere birçok yaylamızda yaz aylarında yayla şenlikleri düzenlenmekte. Bu şenliklere ilçe halkı başta olmak üzere yurt içi ve yurt dışından birçok misafir gelmekte.
Sosyal hayat; yayla şenlikleri, festivaller, kalandar, Hıdırellez, dini bayramlar gibi günler ile zenginleşmiş. İnsanlar arasında aile, akraba ve arkadaşlık bağları kuvvetli olup spor, sanat alanlarına da hem gençler hem de yetişkinlerce ilgi fazla.

STREET FOOD IN TURKEY - Today, I will take a street food tour in Trabzon to explore its cuisine.
We started our street food tour in Trazbzon in one of the oldest restaurants in the city by having their amazing pilav with kavurma and beans.
After that, we went to have the local famous Akçaabat Köfte, the best meatballs I've had so far in Turkey.
To continue our Trabzon street food tour, we went to have the best dessert you could possibly have in the Black Sea region, Hamsiköy Sütlacı.
To end our first day of eating in Trabzon, we went to the King of Turkish Pide in Turkey to try Trabzon Pide, the best pide in Turkey.
The following day, we decided to have a Black Sea-style Turkish breakfast specifically for one reason, Kuymak.
To end our Trabzon street food tour, we couldn't leave the city without having a seafood feast.

Our Turkish food tour continues as we try out two very different köfte, Trabzon Akçaabat Köfte and Çiğ Köfte. These two ‘meatballs’ fall on opposite ends of the spectrum, one straight up meat, the other completely vegetarian, yet neither are any less delicious than the other.
Our first stop for this street food tour in Turkey is in town to try Çiğ Köfte from one of the more well-known places that specialize in this dish throughout Turkey. Afterwards, we continue our Turkish food tour and head to a local shop to try the special Trabzon Akçaabat Köfte. The quality of Turkish food in this restaurant is like no other, and the hospitality was unbelievable.

Trabzon (Turkish pronunciation: [ˈtɾabzon]; Ophitic Pontic Greek: Τραπεζούντα, (Trapezounta), Armenian: Տրապիզոն, romanized: Trapizon), historically known as Trebizond in English, is a city on the Black Sea coast of northeastern Turkey and the capital of Trabzon Province. Trabzon, located on the historical Silk Road, became a melting pot of religions, languages and culture for centuries and a trade gateway to Persia in the southeast and the Caucasus to the northeast.[3] The Venetian and Genoese merchants paid visits to Trabzon during the medieval period and sold silk, linen and woolen fabric. Both republics had merchant colonies within the city – Leonkastron and the former Venetian castle – that played a role to Trabzon similar to the one Galata played to Constantinople (modern Istanbul).
Trabzon has four lakes: Uzungöl, Çakırgöl, Sera and Haldizen Lakes. There are several streams, but no rivers in Trabzon.
Trabzon has a number of tourist attractions, some of them dating back to the times of the ancient empires that once existed in the region. In the city itself, one can find a hub of shops, stalls and restaurants surrounding the Meydan, a square in the center of the city, which includes a tea garden.
The Hagia Sophia (Turkish: Ayasofya Müzesi), a stunning Byzantine church, is probably the town's most important tourist attraction.
Trabzon Castle ruins are visible in the town but cannot be visited as they fall in a military zone. The outside wall of the castle now serves as the back wall of a military building.
The Atatürk Köşkü is a villa built in 1890 by a local Greek merchant. In 1924 Mustafa Kemal Atatürk stayed in the villa during his visit to Trabzon. He stayed there again in 1937. It houses period rooms and serves as a monument to the memory of the founder and first President of the Republic of Turkey.
Boztepe Park is a small park and tea garden on the hills above Trabzon that has a panoramic view of nearly the entire city. The terrain in Trabzon is ascending in such a way that although the view is far above that of the buildings below, it is still close enough to be able to observe the flow of traffic and the people moving about in the city.
Uzun Sokak is one of the most crowded streets of Trabzon.
Trabzon Museum is located in the town center and offers interesting exhibits on the history of the region, including an impressive collection of Byzantine artifacts.
Trabzon's Bazaar District offers interesting shopping opportunities on ancient narrow streets, continuing from Kunduracılar Street from the Meydan (town square).
Kostaki Mansion is located to the north of Zeytinlik near Uzun Sokak.
Other sites of the city include: Fatih Mosque (originally the Panagia Khrysokephalos Church), Yeni Cuma Mosque (originally the Agios Eugenios Church), Nakip Mosque (originally the Agios Andreas Church), Hüsnü Köktuğ Mosque (originally the Agios Elevtherios Church), İskender Pasha Mosque, Semerciler Mosque, Çarşı Mosque, Gülbahar Hatun Mosque and Türbe (commissioned by Sultan Selim I), Kalepark (originally Leonkastron).
Within Trabzon Province, the main attractions are the Sümela Monastery (i. e. the Monastery of the Panagia Soumelá) and the Uzungöl lake. The monastery is built on the side of a very steep mountain overlooking the green forests below and is about 50 kilometres (31 miles) south of the city. Uzungöl is known for its natural environment and scenery. Other sites of interest in the broader region include:
Kaymaklı Monastery, a formerly Armenian Monastery of the All-Saviour (arm. Ամենափրկիչ Վանք, Amenaprgič Vank),
Kızlar Monastery of Panagia Theoskepastos (the God-veiled Virgin),
Kuştul Monastery of Gregorios Peristereotas (gr. Ιερά Μονή του Αγίου Γεωργίου Περιστερεώτα, Ierá Moní tou Agíou Georgíou Peristereóta),
Vazelon Monastery of Agios Savvas (Maşatlık),
Cave churches of Agia Anna (Little Ayvasıl), Sotha (St. John), Agios Theodoros, Agios Konstantinos, Agios Christophoros, Agia Kyriakí, Agios Michail and Panagia Tzita churches.

You probably know by now that we love being in nature and the Black Sea region of Turkey is the perfect place for nature lovers! We were so lucky with the weather and enjoyed the most perfect Fall days in the middle of November while exploring Uzungol, the Sumela Monastery and some of the area's most famous Yaylas. You definitely have to add these places to your Turkey itinerary!

Bu hafta Trabzon gezilecek yerler bölüm 3 ile karşınızdayız. Bu video Trabzon gezimizin son videosu. Trabzon vlog serimizin 3. videosu. Karadeniz turlarının en önemli şehirlerinden Trabzon'da muhteşem bir tatil geçirdik. Trabzon gezimizin ilk iki bölümünü de izlemeyi unutmayın. Bu bölüme meşhur Kalkanoğlu Pilavcısı ile başladık. Kalkanoğlu Pilavcısı oldukça meşhur ve tarihi. Trabzon gezinizde mutlaka Kalkanoğlu Pilavcısından pilav ve kavurma yemelisiniz. Trabzon ekmeğinin ününü duymayan yoktur. Rüştü'nün Fırın'da Trabzon ekmeği nasıl yapılır onu görme şansımız oldu. Trabzon merkez de birçok tarihi mekan var Fatih Büyük Cami de onlardan bir tanesi, mutlaka görmelisiniz. Trabzonspor tutkusu oldukça yüksek bir şehirde Trabzonspor Müzesi mutlaka gezilmeli. Karadeniz denizce akla ilk gelen lezzetlerden olan laz böreği de mutlaka denemesi gereken tatlardan. Biz de laz böreğini en iyi yerlerden bir tanesinde deneyimledik. Akçaabat'ın parlayan yıldızı Oramahalle tarihi konakları ile çok etkileyici. Akçaabat ve Ortamahalle mutlaka rotanıza eklenmeli. Trabzon gezimiz burada sona erdi. Biz gezerken çok keyif aldık. Umarım sizler de izlerken keyif alırsınız.
