10 Most Hated Towns in England

What are the most hated towns in England? No matter how good a country is, every part of it can’t be loved equally. In fact, some parts of it are bound to be hated. Even the most fanatic lover of a country will love some parts of it less than others. I have heard some people complaining about some towns in England, the home of the Queen that some people are dying to live and work in. That prompts research into the 10 most hated towns in England.
This ranking is based mainly on the comments and complaints of residents of England and visitors to those towns. But it’s not limited to that since some complaints can be completely baseless. We dig deeper in researching these 10 most hated towns in England.
10. Slough
Let’s begin with Slough, a town in Berkshire, within the historic county of Buckinghamshire. This town is 20 miles west of central London and 19 miles northeast of Reading. You will find the town in the Thames Valley and within the London metropolis around the area at the intersection of the M4.
In spite of its location, Slough according to those visitors, is a town whose streets are littered with empty takeaway and full of packets or empty beer cans. This assertion hasn’t been contradicted by even just one resident. The quality of food in the town’s restaurants appears, kind of, made for losers who’re just out to eat as much unhealthy food as they can get away with.
9. Scunthorpe
It’s not desirable to find Scunthorpe among the most hated towns in England. Unfortunately, we can’t afford to take it out of our list because the facts obviously place it there. This industrial town in the unitary authority of North Lincolnshire should normally be the pride of Lincolnshire as its main administrative center. But the town with an estimated population of 82,334 in 2016 had many things going against it.
Residents of the UK’s largest steel processing center, also known as the Industrial Garden Town, are frustrated by a lack of the liveliness and diversity in the town only known for work. However, the loudest grouse that lists Scunthorpe alongside the most hated towns in England is the indiscriminate censorship and blocking of websites for spurious reasons.

CHORLEY TOWN CENTRE Walking Tour. England, UK

Walking around the town centre of Chorley. My Adventure Planet

Chorley is a town and the administrative centre of the wider borough of Chorley in Lancashire, England.

Chorley is 8.1 miles (13 km) north of Wigan, 10.8 miles (17 km) south west of Blackburn, 11 miles (18 km) north west of Bolton, 12 miles (19 km) south of Preston and 19.5 miles (31 km) north west of Manchester.

Chorley town centre is bisected by the A6 Roman road.

It is located near to junctions 6 and 8 of the M61 motorway and junction 27 of the M6; Charnock Richard services are sited within the borough.

The town's wealth came principally from the cotton industry.

In the 1970s, the skyline was dominated by factory chimneys, but most have now been demolished.

Remnants of the industrial past include Morrisons chimney and other mill buildings and the streets of terraced houses for mill workers.

Also, given its location on the edge of Lancashire Coalfield, Chorley was vital in coal mining.

The last pit in the area to close was the Ellerbeck Colliery in 1987 which was located south of Chorley, between Coppull and Adlington.

Chorley had a population of 33,424 at the 2001 census, with the wider borough of Chorley having a population of 101,991.

The town is the home of the Chorley cake. Every October, the Chorley Cake Street Fair promotes the cakes with a competition for local bakers to produce the largest ever Chorley cake.

Adlington Hall, Cheshire

Adlington 2018 - Views of Cheshire

Relax, and take a gentle walk with Views of Cheshire from Adlington towards Styperson and Whitley Green on this Bank holiday weekend.

18/Sep/2020. Walk: Adlington - Blackrod and more!

This video could also be titled; “The least likely place to visit by train”. During the walk from Adlington to Blackrod I had lunch at Bolton West services despite not having or arriving by car!

I later walked from Bryn to Garswood, Mossley Hill to West Allerton and finally Sankey for Penketh to Warrington West. By chance I did Sankey for Penketh back in December walking the opposite direction from Warrington West. If I’d had to wait for the train I got off I’d have been waiting approx. two hours! Luckily, there was a train in the station waiting at the red signal and the conductor allowed me to get on. This time I did it officially and in daylight!

As things stand now I’ve still got three more GMPTE stations to tick off: Gathurst, Ince and Orrell.

A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Lancashire! | Gawthorpe Hall

In this video we travelled north to the heart of Lancashire to explore another National Trust site called Gawthorpe Hall! This hall and it's surrounding grounds are considerably smaller than those we have previously visited but nevertheless it is a beautiful place to come for a stroll! The house is run as a museum by the National Trust but unfortunately all available slots were filled at the time of our visit so we weren't able to show you the interior. The grounds are small but free to enter so if you are just looking for somewhere to walk the dog or get out the house for an hour or two, Gawthorpe Hall is definitely worth a quick visit!

STOCKPORT'S £1BN BUILDING BOOM | + Redrock, Meadow Mill, a ruin & A Taste of Honey

#Stockportarchitecture #Stockportconstruction
In this video I look at Stockport, my home base, and the one billion pound transformation currently in progress in the town. There are a number of new construction projects, biggest of all, the new transport interchange and next to it, the restoration of Weir Mill along with a controversial residential tower standing much taller than the viaduct and just a few metres away from it.

We also visit Redrock, the controversial cinema and leisure complex, Merseyway and the controversial Stockroom project as well as Meadow Mill and not far away, a ruin.

Adlington Station 14/1/19

The videos from our first proper mid week trip out we had back in January, where the aim was to visit all the Northern stations which are served by the Northern Rail electric services, these being operated by Class 319’s and 323 units. The weather wasn’t the best but we made the best out of a bad situation and got what we needed doing done so all was well by the end of the three days! Enjoy!
