Antonio, Jackie, Bonnie (my dog) and myself walked to a house called La Carrasca. The owner of the house introduced the mountain goats in the 70’s for hunting. Above the door of the house is a plaque, the original was stolen 15 years ago. It said - 1806, days 16,17,18, 19 of April was snowing incessantly, there were over 14 spans of snow in the opening, 33 mares died and a beef. The goat was released on the 18th day for two hours in clear weather. 25th of it snowed more.
The smaller plaque underneath was the owners - Mr Alfonso Ramon de Canovas and his wife.
Antonio had the key for the door and we all explored the house. We then went further up the Sierra Espuna to view the snow wells.

Cehegín cuenta con un bonito casco histórico y en las proximidades también se encuentra la ciudad perdida de Begastri. Todo esto y mucho más le han valido a Cehegín para recibir el título de Maravilla Rural en 2019.

La ciudad de Lorca es la herencia de tres civilizaciones: la cristiana, la judía y la musulmana. Su casco histórico fue declarado conjunto histórico artístico en 1964, y su castillo, monumento nacional en 1931. Su posición estratégica y la fertilidad de sus tierras motivaron la llegada de íberos, cartagineses, romanos, visigodos, moros y cristianos dejando un rico legado arquitectónico, artístico y de tradiciones. Especialmente denso en patrimonio heráldico, aquí abundaron los linajes de hidalgos que habitaron la ciudad desde la reconquista en el año 1243. Merece la pena pasear por sus calles y descubrir todos los secretos que encierra esta ciudad, que ha sabido reponerse a las adversidades a lo largo de la historia. ¿No conoces la ciudad de Lorca? ???? El Cristo de Monteagudo a vista de drone

Uno de los lugares más destacados de Murcia es el Cristo de Monteagudo, todo murciano sabe de él, la gran mayoría a subido a sus faldas, pero pocos habrán visto unas vistas del Cristo como las que te ofrezco a continuación.

El hermano pequeño del Cristo de Corcovado se encuentra en Monteagudo (Murcia) y tiene su historia:

El Cristo que conocemos hoy en día fue erigido en 1.951, con sus 14 metros de altura, pero este quiso ser una réplica de su original, ya que en 1.926 fue levantado el primer Cristo de Monteagudo, más alto y más pesado que el actual, pero debido a la guerra civil, el 24 de noviembre de 1.936 se acometió contra la estructura y las bóvedas interiores de la fortaleza.

Hoy en día, hay un sendero que te lleva hasta las faldas del Cristo, y en la misma pedanía de Monteagudo, puedes visitar el Centro de Visitantes de San Cayetano, donde te darán información de los diferentes hitos arquitectónicos de la zona.

Abaran Water Wheels, El Jarral Dam Park & Segura River Murcia Spain.

The 3 Amigos, Antonio, Jackie and myself went to capture the Water Wheels of Abaran. We only saw 3 water wheels but there are many more to visit in the area. Plenty of signs to find them and a nice walk along the Segura riverbank. We then went to visit El Jarral Dam Park also known as the Beaches of Abaran. We managed to capture the kids going over the top.
We then visited the town of Blanca to see the old wash room before finishing where the Segura river widens.
Well worth a visit. The 3 Amigos will meet up again in September when it’s a little cooler to exploring many more amazing places in the Murcia Region.
