WHAT TO SEE IN iZMIT CITY CENTER? İzmit is a district and the capital of Kocaeli province, Turkey. It is located at the Gulf of İzmit in the Sea of Marmara, about 100 km east of Istanbul, on the northwestern part of Anatolia. The city center has a population of 300,611. The population of the province is 1,459,772.

This is one of those million places in the world that are full of unknown beauty. It's not marketed as touristic place so there are literally ZERO tourists. Therefore they also have no facilities for tourists, such as hotels. But they have a lot of farms and field that require work: I met the owner of one of these farms who constantly hosts 5-8 people on Workaway, who help him in the fields in exchange for accommodation and delicious food.

A Drive through Izmit, Kocaeli-Turkey Travel Guide
Izmit is a large city located in the eastern side of Istanbul and is one of the industrial hubs of Turkey. It takes only about an hour to get there from Istanbul and two cities seem to be glued together as many factories and settlements are located in between. Izmit is a the center of Kocaeli province and home to over a million people. I drew through the city of Izmit to Kartepe mountain and filmed the journey all together.
