In late May 2010, three adventurous Australian ladies set out to explore the wonders of Central Europe!
They began their journey at the 'Jewel in the Crown of Central Europe'...beautiful Prague.. and then made their way down through the deep forests and pastoral scenes of the Czech Republic into South Bohemia.
At the medieval township of Český Krumlov they rejoined the River Vltava which they had first witnessed in Prague. The Vltava flows from its source in the Šumava mountains onto Prague and still further to join the Labe (Elbe) at Mělník, north of the Czech capital.
After Český Krumlov they proceeded through Upper Austria - experiencing some breath-taking Alpine views - to the magical Baroque city of Salzburg.
It was there that The Three Ladies, Katrina, Sue & Trish, were on a mission.....to follow the 'Sound of Music' trail through Salzburg and the beautiful Austrian Lakes district of the Salzkammergut.
It was a pleasure to escort them on this laughter-filled, musical journey from the cultural riches of the Czechlands and onto the natural beauty of South Bohemia and the Austrian Alps.
I hope they enjoyed it as much as I did. The 'Sound of Music' will always remind me of what fun it can be .....travelling with three ladies!!

Today, in our Czech Republic, Prague streets walk, we will move along Korruni street in the heart of the Vinohrady district, through Peace Square towards Wenceslas Square.
Korunní street had had its name since 1899, except 1956–1990, when it was named after the German communist Wilhelm Pieck (1876–1960), who was elected the first (and last) president of the German Democratic Republic in 1949. He held the office until his death.
The name Crown Class comes from the crown of St. Wenceslas, the oldest and most important part of our crown jewels. Charles of Luxembourg had the crown made during his father Jan's lifetime in 1346. The crown became a public symbol of Czech statehood from the beginning. In the figurative sense of the word, the term Crown of the Kingdom of Bohemia (Corona Regni Bohemiae) referred to the territory of the Czech state in a broader sense, including Moravia, Silesia, and Lusatia. The state of the Czech Crown began acting as a legal entity independent of the monarch in the 14th century, and the crown of St. Wenceslas became its symbol.
Vinohrady (Royal Vineyards) is a cadastral district in Prague. It is so named because it was once covered in vineyards dating from the 14th century. Vinohrady lies in the municipal and administrative districts of Prague 2 (west part), Prague 3 (north-east part) and Prague 10 (south-east part), minor parts also of Prague 1 (Prague State Opera and Federal Assembly of Czechoslovakia), and Prague 4 (near Nusle).
Between 1788–1867 it was called Viničné Hory (Vineyard Mountains). From 1867 to 1968, it was called Královské Vinohrady (Royal Vineyards). In 1875, Královské Vinohrady was divided into two parts, Královské Vinohrady I and Královské Vinohrady II; part I was renamed Žižkov and part II to Královské Vinohrady in 1877. In 1922 Královské Vinohrady was made part of Prague as district XII. In 1949, the west part was conjoined with Prague 2, and the east part remained a separate district, Prague 12. In 1960, when the Prague division was reduced from 16 to 10 administrative districts, the north part of Prague 12 was conjoined with Žižkov into Prague 3, and the south part was joined to Prague 10. Local patriots say that the real reason was that Královské Vinohrady was known as a bourgeois district and thus politically unreliable for the then-ruling Communist Party of Czechoslovakia.
Wenceslas Square (Václavské náměstí or colloquially Václavák) is one of the main city squares and the center of the business and cultural communities in the New Town of Prague, Czech Republic. Many historical events occurred there, and it is a traditional setting for demonstrations, celebrations, and other public gatherings. It is also the place with the heaviest pedestrian traffic in the country. The square is named after Saint Wenceslas, the patron saint of Bohemia. It is part of the historical center of Prague, a World Heritage Site.

Praha (v češtině, slovenštině, ukrajinštině a běloruštině; v germánských jazycích a v srbochorvatštině Prag; v ostatních slovanských a románských jazycích Praga, anglicky a francouzsky Prague, v ostatních jazycích podle těchto tří variant) je hlavní město a současně největší město Česka, zároveň je 15. největším městem Evropské unie. Leží mírně na sever od středu Čech na řece Vltavě, uvnitř Středočeského kraje, jehož je správním centrem, ale není jeho součástí, jelikož je podle zákona č. 347/1997 Sb. samostatným samosprávným celkem.[6] Je sídlem velké části státních institucí a množství dalších organizací a firem. Sídlí zde prezident republiky, parlament, vláda, ústřední státní orgány a jeden ze dvou vrchních soudů. Mimoto je Praha sídlem řady dalších úřadů, jak ústředních, tak i územních samosprávných celků; sídlí zde též ústředí většiny politických stran, hnutí a iniciativ a centrály téměř všech církví, náboženských a dalších sdružení s celorepublikovou působností registrovaných v ČR.
Do dnešní podoby se Praha vyvíjela jedenáct století. Coby historická metropole byla hlavním městem Českého knížectví, Českého království a sídelním městem císařů Svaté říše římské. Město hrálo významnou roli v české a protestantské reformaci, ve třicetileté válce a v dějinách 20. století jako hlavní město Československa, a to jak během obou světových válek, tak v poválečné komunistické éře. Praha je domovem řady slavných kulturních atrakcí, z nichž mnohé přežily zničující období Evropy 20. století. Mezi hlavní atrakce patří Pražský hrad, Karlův most, Staroměstské náměstí s Pražským orlojem, Josefov, Petřín a Vyšehrad. Od roku 1992 je historické centrum Prahy zapsáno do seznamu světového kulturního dědictví UNESCO.
Praha se rozkládá na území 496 km² a žije zde okolo 1,3 milionu obyvatel, v pražské metropolitní oblasti žije zhruba 2,1 milionu obyvatel.[7]
Praha je vysoce ekonomicky vyspělým a bohatým regionem s vysokou životní úrovní,[8] přičemž tímto vyniká nejen nad české, ale i nad evropské standardy.[9] V roce 2019 z indexu kvality života vyplynulo, že Praha má druhou nejlepší kvalitu života v Česku.[10] Podle statistik Eurostatu je devátým nejbohatším regionem v Evropě. HDP na obyvatele v Praze dosahuje 171 % průměru celé Evropské unie (HDP na obyvatele Česka dosahuje pouze 80 %).[11][12] V Praze sídlí celkem 12 univerzit (vysokých škol univerzitního typu).
Praha je také všeobecně považována za jedno z nejkrásnějších měst v Evropě.[13] Historické centrum města s jedinečným panoramatem Pražského hradu, největšího hradního komplexu na světě,[14] je památkovou rezervací UNESCO. Právě historické jádro města a mnohé památky přilákají ročně miliony turistů ze zemí celého světa. V roce 2017 navštívilo Prahu 8,5 milionu turistů, byla tak pátým nejnavštěvovanějším městem Evropy, po Londýně, Paříži, Istanbulu a Římu.[15]
Liberec (německy Reichenberg) je statutární město v okrese Liberec na severu Čech a krajské a univerzitní město Libereckého kraje. Se svými přibližně 107 tisíci[1] obyvateli je páté největší město v Česku (třetí v Čechách). Spolu se sousedním Jabloncem nad Nisou a okolními obcemi vytváří širší sídelní aglomeraci, sám katastr města obsahuje jako enklávu obec Stráž nad Nisou. Liberec je zakládajícím členem Euroregionu Nisa, od roku 2004 i jeho hlavním městem.

The Krampus, also known as Kramperl or Bartl, is a frightening figure in the Advent tradition accompanied by Saint Nicholas. It is widespread in the eastern Alps, in southern Bavaria and the Upper Palatinate, in Austria, Liechtenstein, Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, South Tyrol, Welschtirol (Trentino) and parts of non-Alpine northern Italy. While St. Nicholas gives presents to the good children, the naughty ones are punished by Krampus.
The figure of Krampus originates - like many other demonic figures from the Alpine region - from pre-Christian times.
The group of Nikolaus, Krampus and other companions is called Bass or Pass in Bavarian dialects.

Vietnam, Da Nang - město a trip do hor - infoglobe.cz
Da Nang skoro žádný turista nezná, většina jím jen projíždí. To je ale škoda, protože dokonce i Jeremy Clarkson v pořadu Top Gear označil starou silnici ve směru na Hue za „opuštěný střípek dokonalosti“. A já mu dávám za pravdu. Vyrazíte-li do hor, užijete si neobyčejné výhledy do přírody. Naopak ve městě to žije, bez motorky se tu snad neobejdete. Podívejte se spolu s námi, co při cestě do Vietnamu nesmíte vynechat.
OČIMA STROJVŮDCE: Sp 1771 (27.10.2021)
Téměř přesně po dvou letech se mi poštěstilo svézt se na spěšném vlaku na Vláře: Tentokrát to byl Sp 1771 z Brna do Starého Města, s brněnskou stálicí 754.023-0 v čele. Za okny se odehrávala nejkrásnější část podzimu a časová poloha vlaku umožnila sledovat západ slunce právě ve chvíli, kdy se blížil do svého cíle. Je to mé první video z tohoto vozebního ramene, které se mi podařilo natočit celé, navíc s optickou stabilizací. O zvuk se opět postaral mobil, umístěný na druhém stanovišti, bohužel se však tamtéž nacházel uvolněný plech, pročež omluvte občasné drnčení.

Wraz z krótkim pobytem w Cieszynie obowiązkowa wizyta na dworcu. Po polskiej stronie tego miasta malutka stacyjka, ale po czeskiej porządny, zabytkowy dworzec z wieloma torami i peronami. Udało mi się wtedy sfilmować ten oto skład Českych Drah.
