Shaba Street is on the edge of National Highway 214, located in Dali (city) in Eryuan, and there are big markets such as Jiangwei and Yousuo nearby. However, the dates of these markets and Shaba are staggered, so there is no contradiction. The history of Shapa Street is not long. It was only formed in the 1980s on a vacant lot of abandoned farmland. In the past, people from nearby villages mainly went to the sand flat in Guanzhen, but felt that the sand flat was too small, so they spontaneously built a larger market here. Later, the Yutan Fair (Yutan Fair and Sanyue Street are the two largest folk fairs in Dali) originally held in Yutanpo, Shaping was also moved to Shaba Street, making Shaba Street even bigger.
As for looking at it today, the bigness of Sha Pa Street has many aspects.
The first is fame. Even those new Dali people, as long as they live near Shaba Street, many of them have passed Shaba Street, and they like Shaba Street and are willing to share it with others. Qiu Bo, who runs an inn and private kitchen in Xizhou, has been in Dali for more than ten years, and he often visits Shaba Street. He said he likes the spontaneity and nature of Shaba Street. The second is the large space. Surrounding the open space on Shapa Street, there are more than 20 wood factories and 30 stone factories, and these factories have gradually built fixed factories. There are also several restaurants open in houses on the side of the road. There are two more courtyards, where the village committee and the market management department are respectively located. But what is more and more important on Shapa Street are all kinds of mobile stalls, and these stalls don't come until the three episodes every week. Although food stalls and restaurants have similar food prices, some restaurants deliberately place stoves, tables, chairs and benches outside, because they find that the business is more prosperous outside the house.
The last is large scale. Shapa Street is full of sky and ground, and it is difficult to determine the number of people going to each market. However, the staff of the market management department estimated that under normal circumstances, there will be more than 5,000 people on Shapa Street every Wednesday during the festival. On the 15th of August, when the Yutan Conference was held, tens of thousands of people flocked here.

Charcoal Grilled Beef Tongue | Sendai Food Guide | Cheap Eats & Travel in Japan
When it comes to food, Sendai is famous in Japan for its gyu-tan, or beef tongue, cuisine. This is where the grilled beef tongue dish was first invented in 1948 by Keishiro Sano, and even now you can taste his original style of preparing gyu-tan preserved at traditional restaurants like Umami Tasuke. The city is proud of their beef tongue and you won’t need to walk very far from Sendai Station to find dozens of gyu-tan restaurants everywhere on the street!
A serving of quality beef tongue is certainly an awesome experience but it won’t come cheap, however you can also find a number of cheaper options around Sendai so even if you’re on a budget you can still enjoy this Sendai specialty.
Gyutan Tokushige
One of the cheapest gyu-tan restaurants in town with the cheapest gyu-tan set meal only ¥1000!
Umami Tasuke
The oldest and most famous gyu-tan restaurant in Sendai. They preserve the original preparing (manually cut and salted) and cooking (charcoal grill) techniques of Keishiro Sano, the Father of Gyu-tan. Cheapest gyu-tan set meal costs ¥1,700 yen.
