Papantla is a Pueblo Magico in the State of Veracruz. It is part of the ancestral lands of the Totonaca tribe, which were the first tribe that Cortez met when the Spanish landed in Mexico. In this video we explore a bit of the Totonac culture and also learn about the food, including the very valuable vanilla bean. #papantla #veracruz #vanilla #totonac #mexicotravel #mexico

The First Free Black Town in the Americas

I visit Yanga Veracruz, It is the First Free Black town in the Americas. It was formerly known as San Lorenzo de los Negros (after a colony of cimarrons in the early 17th century
Gaspar Yanga was an Punu/Punu chief in present-day Gabon in Central Africa before being sold into slavery and sent to Mexico.
I talk about Gasper Yanga and the history of Afro-Mexicans. The sad part is that there are no black people in Yanga Veracruz. They have died off.

Veracruz, Mexico: Where Enslaved Africans Lived

This short video travel clip will show you the quarters where enslaved African workers were kept by a Spanish family in bare-bones rooms near their big hacienda estate in Veracruz, Mexico. They were forced to work in this family's sugar cane fields in the late 1700s.

Quick Note: I apologize for the sometimes loud sounds from the wind. This video clip was shot a few years back when I was using an older camera with no wind screen.

Nearby is the small town of Yanga which happens to be the very first free black settlement in the Americas. Today you will find it to be a normal Mexican town with mostly people of Spanish and European descent. In the rural outskirts of this town which is not far from the port city of Veracruz, there are small pockets of darker-skinned people but they can be a challenge to locate.

If you know where to look in the state of Veracruz, you can discover very small villages called Rancherias with names like Matamba, Mozambique, and Mandinga.

🇲🇽 I HATED ORIZABA, Veracruz (You'll Probably LOVE IT!) | The Most TACKY Magic Town in Mexico?

🇲🇽 ORIZABA, VERACRUZ - Yes, I hated it! Ok, before you start with the whole 'everything in Mexico is perfect' garbage, remember that we don't have to like everywhere we visit. Plus, it helps if you're not tired and in a bad mood. LOL. I've been to countless Pueblos Magicos over the years but never really been confronted with Mexico's version of cheap and tacky family tourism, until now!

Plastic flamingoes, animals in cages, overpriced everything, 4 hour waits for attractions, and a town which really wasn't magic at all. Why is Orizaba a Magic Town? I much preferred CORDOBA!

I went on a little weekend trip from Mexico City (CDMX) and was staying in Cordoba for the weekend. I was hoping to find somewhere with some awesome Mexican food (everything was closed) and to go up on a Teleferico (good luck), but was confronted by crocodiles and cheap and tacky tourism not indicative of other magic towns.

In summary, touristic places are not my cup of tea. Give me a gritty city with no tourism or an abandoned building- that's my idea of travel. But saying that, if it's your first Mexico trip or you are planning to move to Mexico and have never been before, Orizaba does offer you a good introduction to Pueblos Magicos.

🇲🇽 CÓRDOBA, VERACRUZ | Why does NO ONE come here? | AMAZING MEXICAN Seafood! | MEXICO TRAVEL 2022

🇲🇽 CÓRDOBA, VERACRUZ - Hola amigos and welcome to the first video from my Mexico Travel 2022 series! We're in Córdoba and Orizaba, Veracruz for the next 2 videos, exploring a state which has eluded me for years on my previous Mexico trips! Why does no one come here?

Prepare for amazing Mexican seafood with the awesome Arroz a la Tumbada, a great example of Mexican food (comida Mexicana, or comida Veracruzana!), an insane ruined hacienda in Toxpan, formerly a sugar mill, and a walk around a Mexican city which has a lot to offer!

If you're looking for places to visit or things to do in Mexico, Córdoba is a great option as a lesser-known city with no expats or foreigners! (at least I didn't see any!). Alternatively, if you are one of those people interested in moving to Mexico, Córdoba might be a possibility!

Our time in Mexico has shown us the beauty of the people and the wide range of ethnic backgrounds that call Mexico home. Recently, we’ve gotten the opportunity to dig deeper into the history of the indigenous groups and their relationship with African descendants in Mexico. That led us to learn more about Vicente Guerrero the first and only Black and Indigenous President of Mexico and Gaspar Yanga, the African revolutionary - two very different people who have afro and indigenous connections.

Incredible $25 All You Can Eat DIM SUM Feast In San Gabriel LA!

Trying some Dim sum at an amazing $25 All You Can Eat Dim Sum Buffet here in San Gabriel Valley, an amazing community just east of Down town Los Angeles that has some of the best Chinese food in the world.

I have had dim sum items offered at some Las Vegas casino buffets but never have I experienced a full scale all you can eat Dim Sum buffet that offers unlimited authentic Dim Sum dishes like this one. It was my first time at a full dim sum buffet and I was amazed at how many dishes we tried and the quality of each dim sum dish especially at this price point.

San Gabriel Valley and LA truly has some of the best Chinese food in the world, have you dined at an all you can eat Dim Sum buffet before?
