Yalova A City That Has Been Followed By Many Historical Civilizations
History Of Yalova
Historians say that the city of “Yalova” was the home of many civilizations dating back to 3000 BC, and it was also under the rule of the Kingdom of Bitina after it was ruled by the Hittites, Phrygians and Persians for a short period of time.
The Roman and Byzantine Empires the “Yalova” until 1326, and then came the authority of the Ottoman Empire in 1326 and ruled it.
“Yalova” was associated with the city of Istanbul in 1930, at the behest of the founder of the republic, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, who gave it great importance, even saying, “Yalova is my city.”
According to historical accounts, Yalova was one of the most prominent cities in the time of the Greek Empire, which was named after the city of “Pylae” which means the gates, as it was then an important passage to the Asian continent by crossing the Marmara Sea from Europe.
In the history of modern Turkey, Yalova was one of the favorite cities of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, where he spent the last years of his life in this city. In 1995, Yalova was separated from Istanbul, to join the list of the 81 Turkish states.
The Romans occupied the area in 74 BC, and after the fall of the Roman Empire, the city was part of the Byzantine Empire.
In ancient times and in most of the Middle Ages, the city was known as Pylae or Pylai and in Greek it was called Bithynia, a Greek word meaning “gates”, as it was at the beginning of one of the main routes to Asia for those who crossed the Sea of Marmara from Europe.
Other historians mentioned that the city had special strategic importance in the Byzantine period, due to its geographical location, as the “emperors” used it as a disembarkation point from “Constantinople”.
In this context, historians pointed out that Emperor Heraclius landed there in 622, at the beginning of his counterattack against the Persians, as Romanos IV Diogenes did the same in 1071, on his way to the Battle of Manzikert.
In the ninth century, as documented by historians, “Yalova” was the site of one of the lighthouses that carried news from the border with the Abbasid Caliphate, and included an imperial inn for travelers.
Yalova was incorporated into the territory of the Ottoman Empire, was part of Sancak Kocaeli, and was known respectively as Yalakabad and Yalova.
According to the Ottoman population statistics in 1914, the total population of Yalova was 21,532, of whom 10,274 were Greeks, 7,954 were Muslims, and 3,304 were Armenians.
On September 5, 1920, the Greek forces occupied Yalova during the Turkish War of Independence. During the period of their occupation of the city, the Greek forces committed massacres on the Yalova peninsula.
The Greek forces, which were stationed in the areas of “Ada Pazari, Yelwa, Sabanca, Kandera, and Izmit”, began to move initially towards Bursa and later to the “Eskişehir” area after the Greek defeat in the second “İnönü” battle to concentrate forces on the Bursa line – Uşak) and attacking the Turks in Afyonkarahisar, Eskişehir and Kütahya, and the Turkish forces that waited behind the Sakarya River, took advantage of this opportunity and attacked the Greek forces to achieve a crushing victory over them. Adapazari was liberated on June 26, 1921, Izmit on June 28, 1921, and Yalova on July 19, 1921.
After its liberation, Yalova became a district center in Karamursel district of Kocaeli Province, and became a district center in Istanbul Province in 1930, before becoming an independent district (state) in 1995.

Fellow SHENANIGANS!! I travelled to Yalova over the weekend and absolutely loved the calmness and it is a perfect getaway from Istanbuls rush.
Personally, I LOVED Yalova! Very Calm and the place was full of Families enjoying their weekend. Definitely a place worth visiting :)
We visited the Su Dusen Waterfall and the Yalova City Centre. Captured the most beautiful sunset I have ever seen in my life with the drone *absolutely beautiful* and had quality time with mum and brother :) XO

My Drone Crashed: Su Düşen Waterfall (Yalova) - Turkey Road Trip EP-3
Instagram:
Su Düşen Waterfall is one of the must to see attractions in the Termal district of Yalova province. I visited there and it was an interesting tourist point. However, I crashed my drone camera there. I was trying to get some nice shots of the waterfall and suddenly the drone crashed into the trees. It's a lesson for me to take care of next time. I was still able to take some shots with the injured drone. I hope you like this video.

alova Province (Turkish: Yalova ili) is a province in northwestern Turkey, on
the eastern coast of the Sea of Marmara. Its adjacent provinces are Bursa to the south and Kocaeli to the east. The population of the Yalova Province was 203,741 in 2010. Prior to 1930, the area around Yalova constituted a district of Kocaeli Province; from 1930 to 1995, it was made part of Istanbul Province; in 1995, the area was separated and made into the current Yalova Province.
Yalova is the connecting point between the most vibrant regions of Turkey. It is located halfway between the cosmopolitan city of Istanbul and the city of Bursa, the first capital of the Ottoman Empire, and the city of Sapanca.
Yalova is 40 km from Istanbul's Sabiha Airport, 75 km from the European city of Istanbul, 45 km from Bursa, and 60 km from Sapanca. A world-wide well-known treatment known as Termal, with wonderful waterfalls
The tourist city of Yalova has become the focus of attention of investors and tourists, especially after the major transportation projects and tunnels that were opened in recent years, and on top of these projects is the Osman Ghazi Bridge, the fourth longest suspension bridge in the world.
The city of Yalova also has the means of land and sea transport, which transports passengers and cars from Istanbul to Yalova and vice versa. There are stations in Istanbul for these ships and buses, such as Pendik and Yenikapı, which transport passengers to and from the city of Yalova.
The city has seen a significant rise in the sale of real estate in recent years.

Spring Waters in Termal (Yalova) - Turkey Road Trip EP-2
Termal is a district of Yalova province in Turkey. In Termal, there is spring water everywhere. It's natural water and they have made it available for the public to take bath, drink it and also it's very good for many other health-related problems.

Yalova is close to Istanbul which makes it very easy to reach by boat, bus or car. There is a bridge connecting Gebze with the province and driving over this bridge is just beautiful because you can see the Marmara sea.
Yalova is the smallest province in Turkey but just because it’s tiny - it doesnt mean that it won’t surprise you BIG time :) Actually it is one of the touristic cities with the longest coastline to the sea with 105 km.
Yalova is a natural paradise with lots of forests and as we all know - Turks love camping! Yalova has one of the best camping spots in Turkey. Especially during weekends it can get crowded, so make sure to get there early in the morning.
Mustafa Kemal Atatürk occasionally lived in Yalova in his final years. In one of his speeches he famously said: Yalova is my city and today it is possible to visit his mansion in the Termak district or to find out more about his Moving Villa in Yalova City.

Yalova gezilecek yerler arasında şehrin tarihi miraslarını görmek için Yalova Kent Müzesi gidilebilecek mekanlardan biridir. Yalova gezilecek yerler turunda Yalova Kent Müzesi'ni de ziyaret edebilirsiniz.
Tarihimizde önemli bir yeri olan Yalova Hükümet Konağı, Yalova Valiliği ve Yalova Belediyesi'nin ortak girişimiyle hazırlanan Rekonstrüksiyon Projesi kapsamında yeniden restore edilerek; Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığı'ndan alınan özel müze kurma izni ile Yalova Belediyesi tarafından Kent Müzesi olarak ziyarete açılmıştır.
Bu tarihi yapının müze olarak işlev kazandırılması kültürel mirasımızın gelecek nesillere aktarılması ve yaşatılması açısından büyük önem taşımaktadır. Müzenin mekânsal yerleşimi, zemin kat ve giriş kat olmak üzere iki katı içermektedir. En üst katın resmi kutlama ve sergi alanı olarak kullanılması planlanmıştır.
Yalova gezilecek yerler arasında tarihi eserleri görmek için mutlaka uğranması gereken bir mekandır.
Yalova to Izmir Journey by Bus - Turkey Road Trip EP-4
Episode 4 of my Turkey road trip is about traveling by road from Yalova to Izmir in a public bus. This journey was supposed to take 4 to 5 hours but it took 6 hours and 30 minutes and the bus did a few stops on the way which made the journey a lot longer than my expectations. Let's see what happened on the way from Yalova to Izmir.
