10 Most Hated Towns in England

What are the most hated towns in England? No matter how good a country is, every part of it can’t be loved equally. In fact, some parts of it are bound to be hated. Even the most fanatic lover of a country will love some parts of it less than others. I have heard some people complaining about some towns in England, the home of the Queen that some people are dying to live and work in. That prompts research into the 10 most hated towns in England.
This ranking is based mainly on the comments and complaints of residents of England and visitors to those towns. But it’s not limited to that since some complaints can be completely baseless. We dig deeper in researching these 10 most hated towns in England.
10. Slough
Let’s begin with Slough, a town in Berkshire, within the historic county of Buckinghamshire. This town is 20 miles west of central London and 19 miles northeast of Reading. You will find the town in the Thames Valley and within the London metropolis around the area at the intersection of the M4.
In spite of its location, Slough according to those visitors, is a town whose streets are littered with empty takeaway and full of packets or empty beer cans. This assertion hasn’t been contradicted by even just one resident. The quality of food in the town’s restaurants appears, kind of, made for losers who’re just out to eat as much unhealthy food as they can get away with.
9. Scunthorpe
It’s not desirable to find Scunthorpe among the most hated towns in England. Unfortunately, we can’t afford to take it out of our list because the facts obviously place it there. This industrial town in the unitary authority of North Lincolnshire should normally be the pride of Lincolnshire as its main administrative center. But the town with an estimated population of 82,334 in 2016 had many things going against it.
Residents of the UK’s largest steel processing center, also known as the Industrial Garden Town, are frustrated by a lack of the liveliness and diversity in the town only known for work. However, the loudest grouse that lists Scunthorpe alongside the most hated towns in England is the indiscriminate censorship and blocking of websites for spurious reasons.

Extract from Wikipedia

Weybridge /ˈweɪbrɪdʒ/ is approximately 27 km (17 mi) southwest of central London. The settlement is recorded as Waigebrugge and Weibrugge in the 7th century and the name derives from a crossing point of the River Wey, which flows into the River Thames to the north of the town centre. The earliest evidence of human activity is from the Bronze Age and during the Anglo-Saxon and Medieval periods, Weybridge was held by Chertsey Abbey.

In the 1530s, Henry VIII constructed Oatlands Palace to the north of the town centre, which he intended to be the residence of his fourth wife, Anne of Cleves. He married Catherine Howard there in July 1540 and the palace remained a royal residence until the Civil War. The buildings were demolished in the early 1650s and a new mansion, Oatlands House, was constructed to the west of Weybridge later the same century. In the 18th century, the owners included Prince Frederick, Duke of York and Albany.

The town began to expand beyond its medieval footprint in the early 19th century, catalysed by the initial breakup of the Oatlands House estate, the enclosure of Weybridge Heath and the opening of the railway station in 1838. The developer, W. G. Tarrant, was responsible for the construction of housing on St George's Hill in first half of the 20th century.

The Anglican parish church of St James was built in 1848 to replace the earlier church. It was designed by the architect John Loughborough Pearson in the Early English Gothic Revival style. It is constructed of coursed rubble stone with a plain tiled roof. The broach spire was completed in 1855 and the south aisle was added in 1864. The chancel is decorated in red and gold mosaics, containing more than 20 types of marble. In 1875, the church was given a ring of eight bells, cast by Taylor of Loughborough. They were re-hung on a new steel frame in 1989.

Several monuments were rescued from the medieval church and were reinstalled in St James'. The oldest is a sculpture of three skeletons, dating from around 1450, which appears to commemorate a man and two women.[153] There are two brasses dating from the reign of Elizabeth I, which record the members of two prominent local families.[154]

The video was very shaky due to it being a standard mounting (stabilised ones cost serious money), but despite this it does give a wonderful view of how the area continues to improve.

Oatlands Park Hotel, Weybridge, UK #HotelReviews

Beautiful hotel surrounded by amazing gardens. This is a historic country house that became a hotel in 1856 and stands on the site of the grand Royal Palaces of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I. This fact makes your stay unforgettable. You can really feel the atmosphere of the old times.
My room was little bit small but enough to feel comfortable in. You can find inside all the staff you need - iron, iron board, safe, kettle, fridge, water, all the bath things etc.
Generally I liked everything apart from bar and restaurant area. They need some refresh as they look old... but definitely not old enough to remember times of Henry VIII (more like '60s). As well quality of food should be much better in 4-stars hotel!!!

Hotel is situated only a 20min drive from London Heathrow airport and 5min from Weybridge train station.

It could be recommended but for £130 per night I would expect much better restaurant and bar.

Brooklands Hotel, Weybridge, UK #HotelReviews

Located in the stunning county of Surrey, just 20 minutes from London and standing where the world famous Brooklands race track once reigned supreme during the 1920s and 30s. The Brooklands Hotel takes this iconic inspiration to deliver a new kind of unique experience.

Generally hotel itself is really good. Nothing you could complain about. The only problem is location - in the middle of nowhere. If you don't want to stay in a building all the time you have to use taxis.
Rooms are quite big with large bathrooms. Standard equipment - AC, TV, free wi-fi, kettle with selection of tea & coffee. Everything new, comfy and very clean.
You will find there one bar and one restaurant with mixed type of cuisine. Food is fantastic. Prices are little bit high as mainly businessmen stay over there.
Excellent service!!
There is a nice gym, sauna and whirlpool bath. Not too big but for evening relax is enough.

In the middle of some kind of business park. Nothing to do. You need a taxi to get to the centre of Weybridge or train station. It will cost you arround 10 pounds each time. At the morning you can use hotel's shuttle bus.

Brooklands Hotel is located directly at the Mercedes Benz World.
