Lake Stevens, Washington - Drive 4K

Lake Stevens is a city in Snohomish County, Washington, United States, that is named for the lake it surrounds. It is located 6 miles (9.7 km) east of Everett and borders the cities of Marysville to the northwest and Snohomish to the south. The city's population was 28,069 at the 2010 census but has since grown to an estimated 33,911.

The lake was named in 1859 for territorial governor Isaac Stevens and was originally home to the Skykomish in the Pilchuck River basin. The first modern settlement on Lake Stevens was founded at the northeastern corner of the lake in 1889. It was later sold to the Rucker Brothers, who opened a sawmill in 1907 that spurred early growth in the area but closed in 1925 after the second of two major fires. The Lake Stevens area then became a resort community before developing into a commuter town in the 1960s and 1970s.

Lake Stevens was incorporated as a city in 1960, following an exodus of businesses from the downtown area to a new shopping center. The city has since grown through annexations to encompass most of the lake, including the original shopping center, and quadrupled in population from 2000 to 2010. A revitalized downtown area is planned alongside new civic buildings in the 2020s.

LEAVENWORTH, WA | 10 Awesome Things to Do In & Around Leavenworth

Leavenworth is a charming Bavarian-themed village at the center of Washington State, located 117 miles to the east of Seattle. Leavenworth is a popular weekend getaway for Seattle residents as well as tourists from afar and is arguably one of the most beautiful places in Washington State. In this video, we break down 10 awesome things to do in and around Leavenworth.

😴 WHERE WE STAYED IN LEAVENWORTH:
- Mrs. Andersons Lodging:
- FairBridge Inn:

10. Indulge in the German cuisine
There are many restaurants that serve German beer, bratwurst, and pretzels. Our favorite places in town include the “Rhein Haus” for its pretzels and German Beer, and the “München Haus” for its bratwurst.

9. Lake Wenatchee
Lake Wenatchee is about 30 minutes away and is a fun place to explore. During the winter, you can go cross-country skiing around the lake. In summertime, it’s a great place to go for a swim or relax at the beach.

8. Hike the Icicle Ridge Trail
The Icicle Ridge Trail is an easy to moderate hike and a must-do when you’re in Leavenworth. It takes roughly 90 mins to reach the beautiful lookout point, with views of the town and surrounding peaks.

7. Take a walk downtown
With its Alpine-style architecture, it’s an experience in itself to simply walk downtown. Leavenworth is fairly small, but it’s so picturesque that you can easily spend a few hours roaming around. Most of the action takes place in Front Street, which is lined with souvenir shops, bars, wine testing rooms, and restaurants. You can also find two museums here: the Nutcracker museum and the Greater Leavenworth Museum.

6. Lake Chelan
About a one-hour drive to the east of Leavenworth, Lake Chelan is a 50 mile long pristine lake. It’s perfect for summer activities, such as boating, fishing, swimming, and kayaking.

5. Explore the waterfront
Leavenworth’s waterfront park can easily be explored on foot. There are many trails that wind through the park, offering beautiful vistas of both the river and the mountains.

4. Go wine tasting
Leavenworth is home to many wineries that host tasting rooms. Our favorite one is the Icicle Ridge Winery, which has two tasting rooms in downtown Leavenworth. But for a more idyllic setting, it’s also possible to taste wine at their log home tasting room in nearby Peshastin.

🍷 Icicle Ridge Winery:

3. The Peshastin Pinnacles
The Peshastin Pinnacles state park is about a 15 minute drive from Leavenworth. A grouping of tooth-like sandstone rocks stand tall here against the vineyards and golden hills of the Wenatchee Valley.

2. Colchuck day hike
Colchuck is known as the most beautiful lake near Leavenworth, if not in all of Washington State. The hike is about 8 mi round trip with 2280 ft of elevation gain, and takes between 4.5 to 6 hours total.

1. The Enchantments hike
As if Colchuck Lake alone weren’t enough beauty, it is also one of the two gateways to the magical Enchantments area. This hike is extremely tough if done in a day as it is more than 20 mi end-to-end. However, getting to these awe-inspiring alpine lakes is absolutely worth it. You can also break up your journey by camping, but must get lucky in the lottery system if you want to stay overnight in the area.

5 Things American Tourists Shouldn't Wear in Europe

Grab some of our gear

Please Note: Young People Wear Many of These Styles Throughout Europe. These tips are geared toward 35+ year old travelers. Thanks for watching!

Grab a Wolters World Shirt

Heading to Europe & Not Sure What to Pack? Here are a few things that my fellow US travelers may want to avoid packing if they are traveling to Europe.
1. Baseball Caps: Europeans in general do not wear baseball caps, especially backwards. You would be better served to wear a more traditional hat. You will see an occasional NY Yankee hat, but why not buy the fancy hat you always wanted instead?
2. Athletic Wear: Europeans tend to wear athletic wear to do sports, not to wear around town. There is a trend of more athleisurewear in Europe, but it is not to the extent that there is in US.
3. Khakis: the omnipresent US male pant choice is not something you will see too often in Europe. Go for colored pants or jeans. If you want khaki like pants wear Chinos instead of Dockers. The pants you will see are a thinner cut or skinnier fit than in the US.
4. Oversized US University Sweatshirts.
5. Sport Shoes or High Heals: US sport shoes and white socks are not quite as popular in Europe as they are in the US. You may be better off with Urban Street shoes like Vans instead. Also, women should be careful with high heels as with all the cobblestone it is easy to hurt your ankles.

Seattle Vlog | Lake Stevens By Explore Seattle, Your Unofficial City of Seattle Guide

Welcome back to explore Seattle, your unofficial city of Seattle guide. It today we take you to the beautiful Lake Stevens, Washington. Lake Stevens is a small and quiet lake side town in the Snohomish county. It is about 30 minutes to an hour outside of Seattle. It’s close to the city of Everett and the Boeing company. It is also close to the town of Snohomish, Washington.

Lake Stevens is a natural lake that is surrounded by natural beauty, including Washington’s famous evergreens. The lake is also surrounded by lake houses Lakefront properties, and small businesses and recreation areas. Today after driving around the beautiful Lakeside, we stopped by Landing Park, and enjoyed the Lakeside scene. It’s a wonderful recreational space for friends and families.

Lake Stevens felt like a quiet retreat. We certainly see ourselves coming back here and perhaps returning permanently after we retire. The town is small, and relaxing. The average home sales price is around 450K to 500K, which is quite affordable around the Seattle area. Plus, it’s beautiful here.

Have you been to Lake Stevens? If you haven’t, we highly recommend that you take a trip out here. Even though today was quite cloudy and chilly, the lake was still a great time for us. We can just imagine how fun it is when the sun comes out and the temperature gets warmer. We do hope you visit Lake Stevens, or come back. Thank you so much for stopping by explore Seattle again!

STEVENS LAKES and STEVENS PEAK | Bitterroot Mountains, North Idaho

June 11, 2021

A solo hike to Stevens Lakes and Stevens Peak in the Bitterroot Mountains along the Idaho and Montana Border. The trail to lower and upper Stevens Lakes is a popular hiking destination due to its easy access off of I-90 near the town of Mullan, Idaho. Above Stevens Lakes is Stevens Peak at 6,383'. At the top there are views of the surrounding Bitterroot Mountains of Idaho and Montana and into the nearby Lone Lake drainage to the west. Stevens Peak is also a popular winter destination for beginner mountaineers and backcountry skiers.

Please remember to Recreate Responsibly. Know your limits! Some of these hikes depicted require technical skills and wilderness experience. Practice Outdoor Ethics including Leave-No-Trace and Tread Lightly to avoid damaging these last few remaining wild and beautiful places. If you can't - then please, PLEASE, stay at home and watch YouTube videos instead.
