10 Most Hated Towns in England

What are the most hated towns in England? No matter how good a country is, every part of it can’t be loved equally. In fact, some parts of it are bound to be hated. Even the most fanatic lover of a country will love some parts of it less than others. I have heard some people complaining about some towns in England, the home of the Queen that some people are dying to live and work in. That prompts research into the 10 most hated towns in England.
This ranking is based mainly on the comments and complaints of residents of England and visitors to those towns. But it’s not limited to that since some complaints can be completely baseless. We dig deeper in researching these 10 most hated towns in England.
10. Slough
Let’s begin with Slough, a town in Berkshire, within the historic county of Buckinghamshire. This town is 20 miles west of central London and 19 miles northeast of Reading. You will find the town in the Thames Valley and within the London metropolis around the area at the intersection of the M4.
In spite of its location, Slough according to those visitors, is a town whose streets are littered with empty takeaway and full of packets or empty beer cans. This assertion hasn’t been contradicted by even just one resident. The quality of food in the town’s restaurants appears, kind of, made for losers who’re just out to eat as much unhealthy food as they can get away with.
9. Scunthorpe
It’s not desirable to find Scunthorpe among the most hated towns in England. Unfortunately, we can’t afford to take it out of our list because the facts obviously place it there. This industrial town in the unitary authority of North Lincolnshire should normally be the pride of Lincolnshire as its main administrative center. But the town with an estimated population of 82,334 in 2016 had many things going against it.
Residents of the UK’s largest steel processing center, also known as the Industrial Garden Town, are frustrated by a lack of the liveliness and diversity in the town only known for work. However, the loudest grouse that lists Scunthorpe alongside the most hated towns in England is the indiscriminate censorship and blocking of websites for spurious reasons.

NORTHAMPTON | England | Top 9 to See & Do | Don't Bother Going 👎👎👎

Northampton in the East Midlands. Is it worth a visit? In this video, I present 9 tips for attractions in the town centre.

Why not consider another East Midlands popular destination, Leicester. Here is my video from last year.

With a population of over 200,000 people, you would expect Northampton to have city status, but despite trying numerous times to apply for the title of the city it remains a town for now.

Uncover the Secrets of Northampton on this Epic Town Centre Walking Tour!

Our travel adventure continues... We took a beautiful Saturday morning stroll through the Northampton Town Centre. Every town and city is different and unique in its own way and Northampton is no different. I really enjoyed walking down the alleys and popping out the other end into a beautiful open square. I was really surprised at how large the town centre was... but I guess it is not really surprising as Northampton has a population of over 225k.

I love to travel to places... large and small... near and far.

Northampton is a market town and civil parish[1] in the East Midlands of England, on the River Nene, 60 miles (97 km) north-west of London and 50 miles (80 km) south-east of Birmingham. The county town of Northamptonshire, Northampton is one of the largest towns in England;[2] it had a population of 212,100 at the 2011 census (225,100 as of 2018 estimates).

Wellingborough Walk: Town Centre【4K】

Located in the county of Northamptonshire, and around 30 miles southeast of Leicester, is the town of Wellingborough.

The history of Wellingborough stretches back to the six century AD or earlier. In Saxon times it was known as 'Wendeling burh', meaning 'stronghold of Wændel's people', where Wændel was a Saxon chieftain. In the Domesday Book of 1086 it is recorded as 'Wendleburie'.

In 1201 King John granted Wellingborough a market charter. Industry in the town over the centuries has included footwear, malting/brewing and iron ore quarrying. The town is surrounded by five wells. These proved popular with the early Stuart nobility, including Charles I who visited Wellingborough in 1628. The five wells appear on the town's coat of arms, harking back to its brief stint as a spa town.

In 1738 a great fire broke out in Wellingborough. According to reports at the time, it started at an oat drying kiln on the west side of Silver Street. More than 200 buildings were destroyed. Neighbouring towns donated money to aid in the aftermath, with its largest donation being 300 guineas from Northampton.

In 1845 the first railway station opened in Wellingborough. This was known as Wellingborough London Road, and was on a line connecting Northampton to Peterborough. A second station opened in 1857, originally called Wellingborough Midland Road. This is the town's current station, and is situated on the Midland Main Line with direct connections to London St Pancras to the south and Corby to the north. The original station from 1845 closed in the 1960s as part of the Beeching cuts. Trains to London take just under an hour, making Wellingborough a viable commuter town for those working in the capital, although season tickets are naturally pricier than other towns further south.

In 1943 Wellingborough Zoo Park opened. The original entry price was 7 old pence. It exhibited a wide array of animals including lions, tigers, bears, panthers and penguins. By the late 1960s the zoo was under pressure from the RSPCA, and was eventually forced to close in 1970 following an incident where a man broke into the zoo and was mauled by a leopard, losing part of his arm. The area where the zoo once stood features in the walk, just off Sheep Street before the 18-minute mark.

Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke was born in Wellingborough.

England: Northamptonshire Buses X46 and X47 part 1 Northampton to Wellingborough

Sorry about the mark on the dirty window of the X47 section. it's difficult to find a completely clean spot on upper deck bus windows. Years ago a Guide Book to England wrote something like: 'As you approach Northamptonshire on the M1 Motorway, put your foot down and don't stop until you are out of the county'. Decide for yourself.

Places to see in ( Milnthorpe - UK )

Places to see in ( Milnthorpe - UK )

Milnthorpe is a large village and electoral ward within the South Lakeland district of Cumbria, England. Historically part of Westmorland and straddling the A6 road, the town contains several old hostelries and hosts a market in The Square every Friday. The parish and ward of Milnthorpe had a population of 2,106 recorded in the 2001 census, increasing to 2,199 at the 2011 Census.

Milnthorpe is the site of the 19th-century Church of St Thomas, which overlooks The Green and The Square. Prior to its construction Milnthorpe was in the parish of Heversham. Milnthorpe became a centre of business and activity because it was originally a port, using the River Bela and estuary (now only navigable to Arnside), and it remains a significant commercial centre for the area.

Local industry includes Duralon Combs, a 300-year-old comb-making family business. Also Big Fish Internet Ltd, Britain's very first website design agency, founded in early 1996. Tourism and hospitality have always thrived, Milnthorpe being a convenient stop-off point on the A6 for coaches and cars en route to the Lake District. Just to the north is Levens Hall, famed for its topiary. The village used to be a major traffic bottleneck before the opening of the M6 motorway in 1970, and the A590/A591 Kendal link road a few years later. The popular children's drink Um Bongo was made in Milnthorpe by Libby's in the 1980s.

Each August, the Friends of the Exhibition holds its annual art exhibition in the church. Milnthorpe has two steel bands, one for adults and the other based in the town's junior school. The grade I listed house Dallam Tower, with an estate known for its deer, stands near to the River Bela just south-west of Milnthorpe, whilst St Anthony's Tower may be seen on the top of St Anthony's Hill to the north-east of the town centre, overlooking the village and the housing estate of Owlet Ash Fields in nearby Ackenthwaite. It has one secondary school, called Dallam School, and one primary school, called Milnthorpe Primary School. The three pubs in the village are The Cross Key, The Bull's Head and The Coach and Horses.

( Milnthorpe - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Milnthorpe . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Milnthorpe - UK
