Wekiwa Springs State Park - Camp Minutes Outside of Orlando - with Site by Site Campground Tour
Wekiwa Springs State Park is located just 16 miles outside of Orlando. This park has a little big of everything including swimming, kayaking, hiking, and fishing. Be sure to bring a mask and snorkel so you can enjoy the beautiful views of the spring.

Important Information:
In peak season it can be difficult to enter the park on a day pass. Cars begin lining up before the 8am opening. It is highly recommended to arrive early, especially on the weekends. It may be a good idea to call the park a day before arrival and ask when they have been hitting capacity.
All sites can be reserved online up to 11 months in advance, 10 months for Florida residents
This campground features 60 campsites
All sites have water and electric hook-up, with most sites offering sewage hook up as well
Checkout is 1pm
A picnic table and charcoal grill are present at each site
Eight people per site with two tents or one RV and one tent
Dogs are allowed
Wekiwa Springs State Park, a Beautiful Local Spot Near Orlando, Florida
As we were heading back to Orlando from Blue Spring State Park, we decided to stop by Wekiwa Springs State Park. It was recommended to us by a local guy we met back at Blue Spring. We really didn't know what to expect when we pulled in Wekiwa Springs State Park. Apparently, Wekiwa Springs State Park is known as the local spot for Orlando residents. Since it is only about 16 miles from downtown Orlando, it is an excellent place to get away from the theme parks. This place is beautiful with lush tropical trees and plants, emerald spring water, and abundant wildlife. It is a perfect place if you want to go swimming, snorkeling, paddling, hiking, or biking.

Today we are visiting Wekiwa Springs in Apopka, Florida.
Miles of trails beg to be explored on foot, bike or horseback, and canoes and kayaks are available on-site. It’s easy to see why visitors have been flocking to beautiful Wekiwa Springs since the mid-19th century.
The azure waters of Wekiwa Springs have made it Orange County’s longest-running tourist attraction. From the dense, almost tropical hammocks near where the springs feed into the Wekiva River to the scenic sandhill uplands, the park is rife with opportunities to see many kinds of animals.
Hours: 8 a.m. until sundown, 365 days
Fees: $6 per vehicle

Thirteen miles of trails provide opportunities for hiking, bicycling and horseback riding. Canoeists and kayakers can paddle along the Wekiva River and Rock Springs Run.

Take SR 434 West to Wekiwa Springs Road. Turn right on Wekiwa Springs Road and travel approximately 4 miles to the park entrance, which will be on the right.

Central Florida is really known for there Theme Parks in Orlando BUT if you look deeper you will find the most incredible Natural Springs right by Disney!
Wekiwa Springs State Park is one of the most beautiful Natural Spring in Central Florida and depending on the time of the year depends on how busy it is there.
If you go around the off season for Theme Parks then most likely Wekiwa won't have as many people either.
I suggest going here during the off season cause the line to get in can get a little crazy plus the water stays cold all year round at 72 degrees - Granted when it's hotter outside it will feel less cold in the water.

Going to Wekiwa Springs State Park in Apopka, Florida | Things to do in Apopka, Florida
In today's video, we wanted to do another tour of a state park in Florida. We decided to try Wekiwa Springs State Park in Apopka, Florida. We have never been but have heard that it often reaches capacity. We found out this is very true. We tried a few times to get in but we were turned away, due to capacity. We found out that if you go in the evening, it is easier to get in. As far as this state park, there really wasn’t much to do other than the spring. There were a couple walking trails but the big attraction is the spring as there were a ton of people in it. There isn’t much parking at Wekiwa Springs State Park so we would suggest either getting there right when it opens or later in the evening. It apparently is very popular but as for our experience, we aren’t big spring swimmers so it wasn’t our favorite park. However, if you are looking for a cool place during the hot days, check out Wekiwa Springs State Park in Apopka, Florida.
