A place to visit in wangdue || Bajo lhakhang || Hiking trails || Cinematic videography || Wangdue
HISTORY OF THE TEMPLE
Bajo Lhakhang is believed to be the abode of Thangthong Gyalpo. The existing Lhakhang was shifted to the present location during the 15thcentury.
It is believed that the Lhakhang was originally constructed in the 14th century near the present Bajo town. Till now the Lhakhang was also used as lobdra for the junior monastic studies.
The lobdra has now been shifted to Rada Lhakhang near the Wangdue Dzong and the Shedra will be at Bajo Lhakhang. At present, there are three teachers and 11 students in the Shedra.
The temple is being built long time ago but its was rebuilt by Dasho yab Ugyen Dorji and Yum Thuji Zangmo.
HIKE
Hike to Bajo lhakhang is very easy and short one. It takes only around 1hrs to reach to the temple only if you are staying nearby the bajo town. Though there is a motor road tgat that has been connected to temple but i would recommend everyone to hike to temple by taking the ancient route which goes right above the bajo town and then goes through the rural village and beautiful paddy fields. Hike isa moderate one and you will enjoy beautiful landscape of wangdue. When we were young, we usually take the ancient trails so it still remains of our childhood lifes. #Bajo Lhakhang #WangduePhodrang #A place to visit #tourism #ancient trails
