Places to see in ( Frinton On Sea - UK )

Frinton-on-Sea is a small seaside town in the Tendring District of Essex, England. It is part of the parish of Frinton and Walton. Until late Victorian times Frinton-on-Sea was a church, several farms and a handful of cottages. It is mentioned in the Domesday Book.

In the first half of the 20th century the town attracted visitors from high society. Connaught Avenue, named after the Duke of Connaught and opened by his wife, was nicknamed East Anglia's Bond Street. Other attractions included a lido complete with palm trees, high class hotels along the Esplanade, and a tennis tournament second only to Wimbledon. The Prince of Wales frequented the golf club and Winston Churchill rented a house.

Frinton has three points of entry by road: an unadopted road from Walton-on-the-Naze in the north, a residential road, and a CCTV monitored level crossing adjacent to the railway station which replaced the older gated crossing in 2009. Frinton was once geographically distinct, but housing estates now line the roads between Frinton and Walton-on-the-Naze, Kirby Cross and Kirby-Le-Soken.

The town has sandy and stone beach washed daily, more than a mile (1,600 m) long, with wardens in season, and an area of sea zoned for swimming, sailing and windsurfing. The shore is lined by a promenade with several hundred beach huts. Landward from the promenade is a long greensward, popular with young and old alike, stretching from the boundary with Walton-on-Naze to the golf club in the south.

Frinton is home to the Frinton Summer Theatre Season at the McGrigor Hall every summer. Started in 1937 by the Cambridge Academic T P Hoar as an amusement whilst he studied corrosion, it quickly developed a life of its own, employing many famous actors at the start of their career. Michael Denison, Vanessa Redgrave, Timothy West, Jane Asher, David Suchet, Gary Oldman, Owen Teale, Linda Bellingham, Jack Klaff and Neil Dudgeon all started their careers at Frinton.

Travel info
We caught the Greater Anglia train from Stratford in East London and changed at Thorpe-le-Soken for the local train to Frinton-on-Sea. Using a Network Railcard the tickets were £15 each, purchased on the day of travel through the Greater Anglia app. The journey took 1 hour 20 mins.

The walk starts at Frinton-on-Sea Station then goes down Connaught Avenue, stopping at Young's Fish and Chip Shop for lunch. We then walked along the esplanade beside the North Sea to Walton Pier and continued along the seafront to Naze Tower. Here we turned and walked back to Walton-on-the-Naze via the cliff road to the station.

Also watch Clacton On Sea -

Welcome to this walk through Walton On The Naze which is north of Clacton and south of the port of Harwich. It has Frinton-on-Sea to the south, and is part of the parish of Frinton and Walton.

Walton-on-the-Naze is a family seaside resort with sandy beaches, seafront gardens, quaint narrow streets and fossil hunting. The pier is the second longest in England, offering fairground rides, ten pin bowling and sea angling. Just to the north is The Naze, an unspoilt headland of heath, salt marshes and sandy beaches - it's 70 feet high cliffs are being eroded away.

It is also the site of the 86 foot Octagonal Naze Tower which is currently used as a gallery which spreads across six floors and houses three exhibitions each year. Other features include a museum which details the history of the Naze Tower and tea rooms where you can stop and enjoy refreshments between different exhibitions.

Albion Beach, Walton on the Naze (Walton-on-the-Naze)
With one of the area’s best beaches and home of the UK’s second longest pier, Walton charms visitors of all ages. From beach activities to countryside walks, Walton has it all. Gently shelving beaches provide an ideal location for a day by the sea

In a region famous for its seaside towns, Walton-on-the-Naze still manages to stand out. It has all the classics: a soft-sand beach, shimmering arcades, fish ‘n’ chip shops and a vintage pier. But there are charming surprises too, like the Naze itself, a wide headland with towering red cliffs and a fossil-filled beach.

Search through the shingle along this ancient stretch of coast and you might uncover fossilised birds, plants and shark’s teeth. A mammoth’s tooth was even found here! Afterwards, take time to admire your newly discovered treasures with a coffee at the Naze Tower. This historic landmark is a gallery too and offers incredible scenery of the coast from the top.

Back in the resort, the traditional seaside sights beckon. Visit the pier, the second-longest in England, for quirky shops, sea angling and funfair rides or wander Walton-on-the-Naze’s narrow shopping streets for a choice of independent stores.

Today, the pier at Walton On The Naze remains a popular attraction, with amusements and funfair rides in a hangar-type building. Beyond this, the pier extends into a promenade popular with anglers.

The old lifeboat house on East Terrace in Walton-On-The-Naze dates from 1884: it now houses the Walton Maritime Museum. It was designed by C H Cooke and is a grade II listed building.

So today we have decided to do a Essex run of Walton clacton and Southend we hope u enjoy the videos

SWC Free Walk 52, Clacton-on-Sea to Walton-on-the-Naze. 2/10/11.

Two walks for the price of one here as the walker has combined Free Walks 52 and 98 to make a coastal walk of around 14 miles. This is the recommended way to do these walks, in this walker's opinion, as they complement one another and make the journey East worthwhile.
The walk from Clacton is a straight-forward one along the coast path. Walton-on-the-Naze makes a useful lunch stop, being 7 miles in, whilst the walk around the Naze makes for a more pleasant and peaceful contrast. Unfortunately, the tide conspired against a visit to Stone Point, but the circuit around the Naze was scenic enough.
A nice walk of contrasts, particularly on a gorgeous day like this one.
(The bird seen towards the end of the walk is believed to be the rare Marsh Warbler).
