Vellore (formerly known as Rayavelur or Vellaimaanagar) is a Sprawling city and the administrative headquarters of Vellore District in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Located on the banks of the Palar River in the north-eastern part of Tamil Nadu, the city has been ruled, at different times, by the Pallavas, Medieval Cholas, Later Cholas, Vijayanagar Empire, Rashtrakutas, Carnatic kingdom, and the British. Vellore has four zones (totally 60 wards) which cover an area of 87.915 km2 and has a population of 423,425 based on the 2001 census. It is located about 135 kilometres (84 mi) west of Chennai and about 210 kilometres (130 mi) east of Bengaluru. Vellore is about (100) Km South West of Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh. It is Hotspot City Of Bengaluru - Chennai National Highway. Vellore is administered by Vellore Municipal Corporation under a mayor. Vellore is part of Vellore (State Assembly Constituency) and Vellore (Lok Sabha constituency).
Vellore City is the home of two of India's top ten educational institutions, Christian Medical College & Hospita and VIT University. It is also a major centre for medical tourism in India.

1.Golden Temple, Sripuram
The temple located on 100 acres of land. The Vellore-based charitable trust has constructed it, Sri Narayani Peedam, headed by its spiritual leader Sri Sakthi Amma also known as 'Narayani Amma.' With its gold (1500 kg) covering, the temple has intricate work done by artisans specializing in temple art using gold.
2.Vellore Fort
Vellore Fort is where the first revolt against the British had happened. But due to the range of the revolution of 1857, it is estimated to be the first revolt. Amongst the forts in Tamil Nadu, Vellore found to be one of the most invincible. A deep and wide moat surrounds this fort.
3.Karpaka Vinayakar Temple
Karpaga Vinayagar Temple is one of the ancient temples at a distance of 71kms from Madurai and 12 km from Karaikudi on Thirupathur – Karaikudi State Highway. The village gains its name from the temple. Here Lord Vinayaga appears with two hands, unlike in other places where he seen with four sides.
4.Jalakandeswarar Temple
Jalakandeswarar Temple is a famous temple located in the city of Vellore. It is a Hindu place of devotion in honor of Lord Shiva, who also goes by the name of Lord Jalakandeswarar. The temple is a beautiful representation of grand Vijayanagaram Architecture.
5.St. John's Church
St. John's Church is one of the famous Churches located inside the Vellore Fort. The Church was established in 1846 by the Government of Madras for the officers and men of the East India Company military station. The Church called after St. John the Evangelist.
6.Fort Museum
The Vellore Fort is the famous fort built during Channa Bommi Nayaka. Happens to be one of the best representatives of military architecture in South India. These two who built the Vellore fort were Chieftains under Sadashiva Raya, the ruler of Vijayanagara. It is one of the biggest fort built during its time and considered one of India's unique forts.
7.Ratnagiri Murugan Temple
Ratnagiri Murugan Temple is devoted to Lord Murugan; it is the oldest temple on the top of a hillock in Ratnagiri. It built around the 14th century and located on top of a hill. Early Hindu scriptures say where there is a hill; there is Lord Murugan.
8.State Government Museum
The State Government Museum is a well-known traveler destination inside the Vellore Fort. The museum is established at Lakshmanaswamy town, next to the main bus stand. It started to the public in the year 1985.
9.Balamathi Hills
The small village of Balamathi, only 17 km east of Vellore, offers a complete panoramic view of the Eastern Ghats. It's a perfect getaway for travelers who want to get away from the city scenes.
10.Periyar Park
Periyar Park, mainly in the city of Vellore, is the most frequently visited place by locals and tourists. This park is also consist of picnic spots, jogging track, etc. Periyar Park has a different section for all types of birds.
