This series will tell you of history, it will show attractions, it will make you laugh and cry. This is the Mother Road. Follow us as we reveal American's main street. In this episode of the Route 66 Adventure we left Vinita to meet with Donna McSpadden in Chelsea, but on the way we filmed the Country Court Motel ruins, the Pryor Creek Bridge and the Southern Belle Flea Market. Donna was our guide, a very sweet woman, who gave us some history and took us to lunch at the Main Street Diner and introduced us to owner Pat Morrison.

Cherokee Nation Anna Mitchell Cultural and Welcome Center
The 9,000-square-foot Cherokee Nation Anna Mitchell Cultural and Welcome Center near Route 66 displays Cherokee history and culture. Cherokee revivalist Anna Mitchell’s influence dominates the cultural center. Her mark is everywhere in the building. A wonderful gift shop and cozy cafe are also on hand. Reporter Lauren Nelson and videographer Chris Cook will take you on a tour.

Driving from Joplin, MO to Vinita, OK on Interstate 44. Filmed on July 27th 2013. The Oklahoma portion of Interstate 44 is tolled.
