Vleuten-Themaat en de Haarrijnseplas
In de voormalige gemeente Vleuten, nu onderdeel van Utrecht Leidsche Rijn ligt de wijk Vleuten-Themaat. De naam verwijst naar een oude buurtschap, die hier vroeger lag. De wijk is ruim opgezet met veel groen en water en fraaie huizen. Onderdeel van de wijk zijn de Themater velden, die grenzen aan de Haarrijnse plas. Een mooi natuurgebied, ook in de winter (wel een beetje drassig). Bezocht in februari 2021.
The Vleuten-Themaat district is located in the former municipality of Vleuten, now part of Utrecht Leidsche Rijn. The name refers to an old hamlet that used to be here. The district is spacious with lots of greenery and water and beautiful houses. The Themater fields, which border the Haarrijnse lake, are part of the district. A beautiful nature reserve, even in winter (a bit soggy).

The Korowai tribe Papua is one of the indigenous people that still maintain their tradition and sustainable life. Take a closer look at their way of life and belief.
Down in the jungle of Papua, lives the Korowai tribe. Isolated from the city modernity and technology, they live in harmony with nature and sustainably. Though there were reports of cannibalism in the past, the Korowai tribe Papua now has started to leave the practice while still sticking strong to their tradition.
First encounter with the Korowai tribe Papua
Korowai people had just been discovered 35 years ago. In 1978, a Dutch Reformed Church missionary, Johannes Veldhuizen, had an accidental encounter with the Korowai people. Since then, he tried to find a way to search more of the tribe by using a local guide from the neighboring Citak tribe.
In the past, they often came into conflict with Citak people, in which many of the conflicts ended up in head-hunting or cannibalism.
Living in Well-Built Korowai Tree Houses
The Korowai tribe Papua is famous for their treehouses. It was built 8-15 meters off the ground, though there are houses that were built up to 45 meters on a tall tree. They usually use Banyan or Wanbom tree as the pole of the house. The structure uses tree branches, rattan, and sago bark. No nails are used, as they fastened everything using strong rattan ropes they make.

The Leidse Rijn or sometimes called Leidsche Rijn is a little canal in the Dutch province of Utrecht between the city of Utrecht and the village of Harmelen. It was constructed partly in the late Middle Ages and partly in the 17th century to replace the river Rhine to the west of Utrecht, which had become increasingly meandering and silting up and therefore became inaccessible. For the construction, existing parts of rivers and other watercourses were used.

Video opgenomen vlak voor kerstmis in de stad Enschede en neemt u mee via de Oldenzaalsestraat via het Mooienhof ( oude V&D en MST) naar de Kuipersdijk. Verder gaan we via de Wet. Beverstraat naar de Mac Donalds drive thru op het Spaansland. Daarna via de Zuiderval naar de Haaksbergerstraat (opgebroken) naar de Boulevard ( van Heeksplein en Casino) . Via de Beltstraat en Kuipersdijk komen we op de Varviksingel, Pathmossingel op de Volksparksingel. Bij de Parkweg rijden we door het tunneltje naar de Tubantiasingel. Via het meubelplein Schuttersveld kom je op de Hengelosestraat. Via de Raiffeisenstraat (Belasingdienst) komen we op de Deurningerstaat en rijden door tot de Dr. van Damstraat en bereiken we de wijk Mekkelholt. We gaan terug via de Fazantstraat naar het Roombeek. Aan het eind van de de Roomweg slaan we af de Voortsweg in richting Debbenbroek en Lonneker.
