Arusha is a city in East Africa's Tanzania, located at the base of volcanic Mt. Meru. It's a gateway to safari destinations and to Africa's highest peak, 5,895m Mt. Annual migrations feature huge herds of wildebeests crossing its plains.
- Is Arusha safe for tourists?
Tanzania is mostly safe to visit, though caution is recommended especially in tourist areas such as Arusha, Stone Town (Zanzibar), and Dar es Salaam.

- How long does it take to walk up Kilimanjaro?
It takes at least five days to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. However, a minimum of six days, and ideally seven or eight, offers a far better chance of reaching the top. For those with longer to spare, there are several more gradual and scenic ascent routes that can be done over 10 or more days.
- How much does it cost to climb Mount Kilimanjaro?
To climb Kilimanjaro can cost you anything from $1000 to $4000 and above. (There are some operators advertising cheap Kilimanjaro climbs that cost below $1200. Don't go there. Actually, don't go below $1700.
- Is Kilimanjaro taller than Everest?
Everest (29,035 feet / 8,850 m) in Asia. Aconcagua (22,829 feet / 6,962 m) in South America. Denali (20,320 feet / 6,190 m) in North America. Kilimanjaro (19,340 feet / 5,895 m) in Africa.

How to travel to Tanzania? Tanzania Mainland, Serengeti Park and Zanzibar
Our safari in the Serengeti National Park:
How to prepare your trip to Tanzania? This is your travelguide for Tanzania. Tanzania is an amazing country. You can hop between having the greatest safari of your life in the Serengeti national park and jumping into crystal clear water on Zanzibar. We absolutely enjoyed the trip and we will summarize all you need to know, if you are planning your trip to Tanzania. In this video we will answer how to apply for the visa in Tanzania. What you need to know about the yellow fever vacccination and malaria prophylaxis.
This was our travel route:
1 day Arusha
4 days safari (Tarangire National Park, Serengeti National Park and Ngoronggoro)
1 day Arusha
10 days Zanzibar
How to prepare your visa for Tanzania:
First, you can apply for an e-visa or get a visa on arrival. Either way, you pay round about 50 US Dollars for the visa. When you apply for your visa online, you need to do it early enough. We got our visa granted in 4 days. So you need to apply for the visa at least 10 days before leaving. Friends of us did not get the visa on time. You can apply for your e-visa (online visa) here:
In the case you don't want to apply for the e-visa, you can also apply for the visa on arrival.
Here you find a list, which countries need a visa:
Yellow fever vaccination:
You don't need a yellow fever vaccination for Tanzania, because it is not a high risk area. However, they will not ask you when you enter Tanzania mainland or Zanzibar from your home country. But it can happen that they control your vaccination certificate when you enter Zanzibar after visiting Tanzania mainland first. This does not make sense at all, but it is a formal vaccine and it could happen they ask you for your certificate. So better be prepared. Our tip is: visit Zanzibar first and then go to Tanzania - this way around you won't have any problems. The other way around, you maybe need to be prepared by getting vaccinated before you go on your trip.
Malaria Prophylaxis:
Tanzania mainland is a high risk area for malaria. Especially when you go on a safari. The doctors told us to take malaria pills. We started to take them before leaving Germany and stopped taking them on Zanzibar.
Corona regulations for entering Tanzania:
At the moment (march 2022) you still need a negative PCR-test to enter Tanzania. Of course, this can change again. Right now, you also need to fill out a health form 24 hours before leaving.
You can find the doc here:
If you want to go on a safari, you should book your tour with Simba Adventures. We loved that company. Here is the link:

Journey Through Ethiopia - Africa Travel Documentary
Ethiopia is one of Africa’s most beautiful and fascinating countries, and a surprising travel destination. From spectacular mountain landscapes and national parks to vast lakes and mysterious deserts. From incredible wildlife to intriguing historic landmarks. From vibrant, fast growing cities to small villages and tribal regions, steeped in culture and traditions.
In this documentary style video, I will show you 10 beautiful places I visited, on a one-month journey through Ethiopia in 2019. I remember the smiles and welcoming attitude of the people, the incredible food, remarkable monuments, the stunning natural and urban landscapes. In all fairness, this was one of my best travels yet.
Sadly, however, at the time of editing this video, Ethiopia is in political and military conflict with the Northern Tigray region, which is causing great suffering to ordinary civilians. Like most people, I hope the relevant authorities can come to an agreement soon, and start rebuilding this beautiful land.
As a result of the conflict, some of the places in this video are currently inaccessible due to high security concerns. Always follow travel advice and consult local guides, to avoid putting yourself and others at risk.

Here’s a brief overview of the content in this video:
We start this journey in the small city of Lalibela, a deeply spiritual town popular with Ethiopian Orthodox Christians. The awe-inspiring monolithic churches are the highlight here, but meeting the many pilgrims is equally, if not more, rewarding. After Lalibela, we venture to the mysterious Danakil Depression, one of the hottest and most inhospitable places on Earth. It’s a bizarre desert landscape, with salt lakes, volcanoes, sulfur springs, and acidic pools. It feels like true adventure travel, but can only be done with experienced tour companies and guides.
The rock-hewn churches of the Tigray region are something unique, and Abuna Yemata Guh may be the most special of them all. This place of worship can only be reached on a steep and sometimes terrifying hike, but rewards travelers with incredible views, and a serene and peaceful atmosphere. The site is managed by several clergymen and priests.
The spectacular Simien mountains offer some of Africa’s best chances for hikes and longer treks, and are also home to the gelada baboons, nicknamed as ‘bleeding heart monkeys’. They live in troops and can live high in the mountains.
After spending some time in the nature, we continue our journey in Gondar, a friendly city with stunning historic monuments. Perhaps even more impressive is Aksum, with some of Ethiopia’s most iconic historic and religious sites, such as the towering obelisks (or stelea), and the Church of Saint Mary of Zion (which, according to legend, is the hiding place of the Ark of the Covenant, in a small chapel).
Addis Ababa is often overlooked by travelers, who rush themselves to the North and South of the country. But the vibrant capital city is an interesting place to spend a couple of days, and serves as a good introduction to Ethiopian culture and food. There are some great areas to be visited, including the famous Mercato, the largest market in Africa.
After Addis, we travel to the South of Ethiopia, which feels very different in many ways. The first stop here is Arba Minch, known for its wonderful Nechisar national park. Here, you can take boat trips on one of Ethiopia’s largest lakes, and spot crocodiles, pelicans, hippos, baboons and other wildlife. The Dorze village is not far from here, and offers a peak into traditional village life. Its friendly inhabitants have created a sustainable form of tourism, and visitors can witness (and take part in) the local economy at work, with cotton weaving, pottery, coffee ceremonies, bread production, and much more.
We finish this journey in the Omo Valley, which is home to many different ethnicities and tribes. It’s important to travel with local guides here, as these destinations often risk turning into so called ‘human safaris’. While tourism can have a positive effect on people’s lives, it’s crucial that it happens in a respectful and meaningful way.
Life In a Floating Slum in Africa - Makoko
The capital of Nigeria, Lagos, is home to a remarkable yet starkly contrasting community known as Makoko - a floating slum that vividly embodies both the resilience of the human spirit and the dire consequences of urban poverty. Beneath the surface of Makoko's waterborne vibrancy lies a harsher truth: the waters, a vital life source, are tainted with sewage and pollution. This environmental crisis is a daily battle for the residents, who face the constant threat of waterborne diseases. The lack of adequate sanitation facilities means that much of the waste and sewage from the densely populated settlement ends up directly in the lagoon, compounding the challenges of maintaining a healthy living environment. Poverty in Makoko is pervasive and profound. Yet amidst these hardships, the spirit of Makoko endures, presenting a deep and complex life narrative in one of Africa's most dynamic urban landscapes. Let us journey to Makoko, and explore how people live in the largest floating slum in the world.

Cleanliness is what everyone admires, and encourages every dirty person who still loves cleanliness. Welcome back, my humble readers and subscribers! If you are new here, welcome, Africa reloaded comes to you on a daily basis with amazing packages and discoveries. In today's edition, we will be looking at the 10 cleanest cities in Africa. Cleanliness, they say, is next to godliness, so who won’t love going for a vacation in a clean city? I suppose neither is correct. Cleanliness is always one of the main factors for travelers when it comes to choosing a destination for their next adventure. Africa is one of the perfect continents when it comes to improvement and development. A lot of cities in Africa have taken serious steps towards having a more beautiful and cleaner environment for their citizens and visitors. Those who live in cleaner countries tend to have longer life expectancies than those in dirty surroundings. Clean water, better air quality, better handling of waste, and sanitation are all factors that significantly affect human health. For example, countries with high air quality scores, and no exposure to harmful particles, like PM 2.5, will allow their people to be less susceptible to illnesses associated with air pollution, such as respiratory or cardiovascular disease. Countries with high population levels have higher rates of non-communicable diseases, which are mostly caused by toxins. Africa Reloaded brings to you amazing packages that are mind blowing. Mount Kilimanjaro: 10 TIPS for climbing Africa’s tallest mountain in Tanzania
Please leave a thumbs up and check out our other Kilimanjaro videos. Also leave a comment and consider subscribing.
Top 10 tips for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Subtitles available.
Hey guys, I wanted to let you know ten tips that I think will help you climb Mount Kilimanjaro.
#1 Get there ahead of the climb
A mistake I made was getting to Tanzania, just a day before the climb. I suggest you get there at least a few days early. Ideally I’d recommend you get there a week or so earlier. In the mean time you can go on a safari or just recover from jet lag.
#2 Pick the right route
There are several routes to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. Some are easier, some are harder. Some have better views than others. My suggestion would be to research all of the routes and see which one is the best match for you. I went on the Machame route, which isn’t the easiest but has good views. The Northern Circuit is frequently cited as probably the easiest route. I’d pick that one if I was going to recommend one.
#3 Pick the right duration.
The routes have different options for number of days. For example, the Machame route is typically 6 or 7 days. I’d recommend the 7 day one for more time to acclimate, if you go with Machame. There are longer ones, such as the Northern circuit which is around 9 days. There are shorter ones too, if you are in great shape or don’t have a lot of time. The Umbwe route can be done in as little as 5 days but is the most challenging.
#4 Bring First Aid and anti-nausea
The guides should have a comprehensive first aid kit with them. However, I recommend you buy or make a simple one for your day pack. A few band aids, aspirin, ointment, antacids and any prescription medicine you take should be with you at all times. I also recommend bringing anti-nausea medicine like Dramamine. I had a small box about the size of a deck of cards with my items in it. Make sure to bring a travel sized multivitamin pack with you too.
#5 Food/snacks
Bring some small meal bars or snacks with you. Your climb will probably come with all meals included, but the food isn’t all that great. If you have a favorite small snack, I recommend keeping some in your day pack. A few snack bars or bags of peanuts might be something you crave. Some hard candy or gum doesn’t take up much space but can definitely help. You’re going to be burning a lot more calories than normal, so you need to keep eating.
#6 Sleeping bag/pad
Get a good quality sleeping bag. A mistake I made was getting a fairly cheap one. I didn’t realize how cold it gets at night. Get a warm and comfortable bag. Also, the temperature rating on the bag is far from exact. Temperature ratings don’t account for wind or your own body temperature. I recommend getting a bag rated to no more than freezing, preferably even colder. You can always unzip it if you are too hot. Also a good pad is a great idea. Remember, you’re going to be sleeping on hard ground or rocks.
#7 Drink powder
Get some drink powder to bring along with you. You need to stay hydrated, so some Gatorade or Pedialyte powder can be added to your water to keep your electrolytes up. Or if you’re a caffeine junkie like I am, you can bring some tea with you.
#8 Pack way in advance
I recommend you start packing for your trip at least a month in advance. I actually used my pool table to spread my stuff out on. As I thought of stuff I needed, I’d order it off of Amazon, and add it to the table. Keeping it all in view helped me not forget anything. I also packed and repacked my backpack frequently. I’d take out things I didn’t need if I needed space. This way worked out great for me, because I didn’t forget a single item. In hindsight though, there were some things I would have liked to have brought, so I recommend you spend as much time as I did, if not more so.
#9 Buy good boots/socks
I covered boots and socks in my previous climbing video I made before. I’ll add a link at the end. But basically, spend a lot of time trying on boots. Get the best pair for you and your budget. Don’t go by what I or some random website said, go to a store like REI and actually try on boots in person. Also get good quality socks. That said, I used Arc’Teryx boots and Thorlo socks and they worked great for me.
#10 TIP YOUR GUIDE/PORTERS!
Last, but definitely not least, tip your guides and porters. These guys work very hard. Tip them generously. The amount of back-breaking work they do to haul your food and gear from camp is camp is amazing. Plus, you may be lucky enough to hear them sing for you!
